    The longhorn With loaded potato

My first time at long horn. The place looks good with nice atmosphere. The steak was mostly ok. The seasoning was not good. Not the highest quality of meat. Sides were too sweet for me. Nice waitress though. I like a good steakhouse..this is not it for me. Not too cheap either.

My steak was requested medium-well but was made medium-rare. The employees were kind, though. I probably wont return.

Longhorn is our family birthday dinner go-to and that's why we came tonight. We were seated straight away in a roomy booth. The benches in the booths have seen better days. We all felt that the seats sank too low and could feel the wood frame. The waitress, Diana, greeted us quickly with a loaf of warm bread and whipped butter. She returned a bit later and took our drink order. We had already sat for a bit so we placed our food order at the same time. My daughter ordered the sangria. It came in a HUGE glass. She said it was very good, but could have been smaller. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, which never came. When the meals were delivered, I asked the food runner to bring it. She did, quickly. I had the loaded potato soup. It was thick and creamy and delicious. The salads were good sized and fresh. I had Flo's 9 oz filet, cooked medium rare with broccoli. The steak was cooked to perfection. It was melt in your mouth delicious but the broccoli was cold. My daughter also had the fillet cooked medium and hers was cooked perfectly as well. She also had the mac & cheese on the side and said it was delicious. My son had the dinner sized ribeye, cooked, medium rare. Again his steak was cooked perfectly. He had the mashed potatoes for a side. They were incredibly creamy and were served with a pool of butter on top. Absolute decadence. My mother had the rock shrimp with the sweet potato. She enjoyed both. We sat for quite a while with our empty plates in front of us with no server to be found. That's my pet peeve. My daughter saw to-go containers sitting on the back of the booth across from us so she got up and got us containers and we packed our food. We still sat there for a bit with empty plates. Since we were celebrating a birthday, Diana offered a birthday sundae when she returned. We also ordered the strawberry shortcake to split. When the desserts were delivered, we asked for a extra plate and a refill of a soda. Neither came. When Diana returned with the check ($163), she remembered the soda refill and brought it back in a to-go cup which was a nice gesture. Three cheers to the cooks for the steaks, shrimp, Mac and cheese and potatoes. The food gets 5 stars. The server gets 3 stars and that's generous. She told us she was working a double shift and went in a tangent about nutrition and how preservatives cause ALZ and that's why she is forgetting things. It was very odd. Longhorn consistently has great food so we will be back for the next birthday I'm sure. I hope that next time we spend nearly $200 for dinner, including tip, Diana has the night off.

Enfield doesn't have that many great restaurants so Longhorn steakhouses are a decent place to grab a bite to eat so if you're in the mood for a steak. Many pizza shops or fast food in Enfield... I was only a little disappointed in the French onion soup which was very lukewarm and the cheese wasn't fully melted but the service was amazing and they actually took the soup completely off after they offered me a new one. Also when you order a upgraded side of asparagus they give you a full package of asparagus for cheaper than what you buy in the grocery store..

View from our table for 2 that actually fits 6.

Traveling through and staying at the hotel next to this location. Added my name to their waitlist online. It told me we'd be seated in approximately 20 minutes. With 5 minutes left, we headed over and checked in. Told it would be 20 minutes. 30 minutes later we we #1 on the app to be seated. After the third party of 2 were seated before us, I went up to the host station to inquire. Was told the online info isn't accurate. Really? Seemed to be working just fine until we reached #1. Why have an app telling customers where they are in line if it's not accurate? So we were finally seated 40 minutes after checking in. As you can see from the photo, they reserved the best table in the restaurant for us.

First time going waited about 10 minutes to be seated on the weekend pretty full but once seated waiter took our order waited 20 min for food it was great! waitress was very friendly

Apparently iced tea is a no no to order in the fall or winter in small town Connecticut. I chose their 14oz prime ribeye for what seemed to be a good price of only $40. It comes with the mixed veggies (Broccoli. Carrots. Squash) and potato of the day (homemade mashed potatoes). The steak was a bit chewy and did not seem to be a typical prime cut of beef I am used to getting back in Texas. Maybe prime beef in Connecticut isn't as good quality, who knows. The homemade bread that comes out before the dinner is good but hard. It's also very garlicky. Service was a bit awkward. Our waitress came by halfway through and said she was checking to make sure we were well taken care of...but my tea was almost empty and she just walked off and didn't say she'd refill it. I eventually had to flag her down a few mins later to ask for a refill. At fancy restaurants, they just fill it without you asking. She also messed up my colleagues meal. He asked for no squash and the chef seemed to put extra squash on his plate. She should have remembered that he didn't want squash. Overall, it was a decent experience, but I just expected more from a fancy restaurant. You pay a little more for better food and better service, but we didn't get that here.

"And there's fire on the mountain Lightening in the air…read moreGold in them hills and it's waiting for me there" (Marshall Tucker Band) Fire On the Mountain has one of the most unique menus I've ever encountered. Seriously, where else have you ever seen breakfast quesadillas, catfish and grits, cheesecake cornbread waffles, smoked brisket hash, deep fried pork ribs, catfish, mushroom, and alligator tacos, and a Puerto Rican Rice Bowl all happily living in the same menu's neighborhood? And then, the icing on the cake was our server - a charismatic and uber-friendly gent named Bromwell who lights up the room with his personality. He made my list of the five greatest servers I interacted with this year. The restaurant's location is as unusual as its menu. You'll find it occupying the front space at the Suffield Commons Senior Living Apartments! Yup, as you walk through the restaurant and out their back door, you actually enter a common space for the housing complex. The restaurant itself has two dining rooms with booths, tables, and chairs and a bar with dining room chairs. That eclectic menu is chock full of breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices with Mexican and barbecue flairs. We were there for lunch and ordered two things. The first was an enormous Cheese Quesadilla ($9.35) with pork ($3.12) on a grilled flour tortilla served with sour cream and pico. It was a thing of beauty, cut into five thick wedges loaded with smoked pork. Our second item was a Caesar Salad (Half size for $6.23) with a side of smoked brisket ($9.36). I passed on the croutons and Caesar dressing in lieu of barbecue sauce as my dressing. I gotta tell you, the brisket was GREAT, a big serving of tender and juicy smoked beef cut into four slabs that must have totaled close to a half pound. We loved everything about Fire On the Mountain and agreed that we need to return for a proper breakfast when we are out that way or making a morning airport run. PRO TIP The restrooms are located in the housing complex's common space I described earlier/ Just exit the restaurant by the door in the rear dining room, and you're just about there.

Not sure if that was the telling sign but for a rainy Saturday afternoon I would expect someone in here. Few people did show up after I ordered so that was good. Looked over the menu and none of the apps really stood out so went with what I came here for which was the brisket. Ordered that with a side of beans, brussels sprouts and a key lime pie to finish off the meal afterwards. Nothing I had screamed I need to come back soon. The pastrami did look good in one of the pictures here on Yelp, and a couple of gentlemen who showed up later order chicken sandwiches and I overheard them saying they were chicken sandwich connoisseurs and it was very good. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing? I was happy about the service. Struck a nice conversation with the bartender about the music playlist and how pleasing it was to hear some tracks that really fly under the radar being played. I do want to give here another chance being close to home. Place is pricey for bbq and as I said was not overly impressed with the food. There is a place near Stowe, VT that has really set the bar for me of what really good brisket is. And there is BT's in Strubridge, MA. which too has good selection of bbq.

Jacob mentioned they get their meat from Arnold's, which has a rep of being one of the best, if not THE best meat purveyors in the region. Burger had a nice charbroiled flavor. The fries... I don't know how to describe them except to say in my top 2 all-time. Crunchy on the outside, like they were coated (with what?, not sure). If you read my Yelp profile, you'd know that I believe ketchup is a vegetable. I have been known to put ketchup on my ketchup. Not with these fries. I ate them naked (the fries, not me thankfully).
