Second our wings came out let's talk about Jumbo they definitely were not Jumbo they were little petite size with some horseradish on side. Didn't realize after that if you want blue cheese it's $1 a piece. Next the main event well food was cold- Mac n cheese cold. Ribs were hard and dry. Burnt ends dry. I am not sure what you call the baked beans but they were terrible. We were a party of 12 and 3 of us told them to take the food back it was that bad. They remade some ribs but they were no better. Than on top of this the manager never came out to address us with the issue of our food and why we took our plates back. So after waiting for awhile for our bill we finally get it and they tried to charge us for the 3 plates we didn't eat and sent back. The waitress went and got the manager who approaches the table not to say hello can I help you but to say I hear you are refusing to pay for your food Well we Beginning to tell him what happened so he repeats so your skipping out on your bill. So we started to say the people that ate and kept there good will pay he repeats so your skipping out on the whole bill. At this time we said we are not but if you feel that way call the police. Which is what he did. Advised them we are trying to not pay for our food. The police arrive and we explain everything to them. Tell me why the 3 meals now were not on the bill anymore. Funny huh. I truly will tell you that this establishment treated us unfairly. I feel like this was a racial issue considering we were 10 black people and 2 white people by the way he spoke to us and treated us. The two officers that came agreed with us and we paid our bill and left. This place should truthfully take smokehouse off the sign cause there is no smokehouse happening at this place. No smell of BBQ no taste of BBQ and definitely no good BBQ. I wouldn't waste your money at all at this place and let me tell you. I went with an old college friend. We tried a sampler of two meats each. The meats were tender. I would say there was a 'bark' from smoking. The fiery sauce was good but mild. My first two choices of sides were out, only 2hrs after opening. Service was great. We're ate inside which wad ok but noticed an outdoor covered seating after that maybe we should have tried. Pros- this place specializes in BBQ. They got the meats and cornbread right. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. There's lots of space and parking. Casual place to have lunch or dinner with nice portions. Drinks were also very good. Cons- the large portion of sides lacked seasoning which was disappointing. read more

We went there on Fathers Day hoping for a good BBQ but we're totally disappointed. I got the combo plate with burnt ends , brisket, baked beans , Mac and cheese and corn bread. I had to send the burnt ends back because they were so dry and tasteless. Totally inedible. The brisket was tasteless and dry also . They did replace the burnt ends with a pulled pork that was not as dry but again totally tasteless. The Mac and cheese and corn bread again was totally tasteless. I had to add so much salt and butter but still could not eat it. Backed beans , again no flavor. BBQ meat should have flavor on its own. You shouldn't have to add BBQ sauce just to get flavor. My wife and I were headed out to lunch and wanted to try something different than our usual. The Crest Room keeps popping up in my Facebook feed so we decided to try it out. When we arrived we were told we could sit anywhere and a server brought us menus just as we were sitting down. She soon came back and took our drink and food orders with a smile. She was extremely friendly and professional. We were in the bar area which appeared to be small but there was plenty of seating without being crowded. Tables, floors, walls, everything was clean and the decor was inviting. Very inviting place to eat. The menu has something for everyone. While the smoke house selections looked delicious, we were looking for something a little more lunch-like. I had the Crest Classic burger and my wife had the Turkey Sandwich. She asked for something other than the Texas Toast (watching carbs) and was enthusiastically suggested a wrap. The turkey was fresh carved as advertised. There were several thick slices that were moist, tender, and delicious. The bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese rounded out the texture and flavor of the sandwich to make it a winner. It was far better than a regular turkey sandwich. I ordered the burger medium. It was cooked perfectly! It was well seasoned, juicy... beefy deliciousness. The bacon, BBQ sauce, and ranch added some smokey goodness. The brioche bun made it a very satisfying bite. This was the best burger I have had in a while. Overall we were extremely pleased with our visit and will be working the Crest Room into our regular lunch rotation. Highly recommend! read more

The food was terrible. Asked for a well cooked hamburger and it was rare. The sauce tasted like it had been burnt. My wife's fish was raw also and left a bad aftertaste. The service was very good. The service was ok, we had to ask twice for a glass of water. We ordered the wings to start. While the texture was great, the garlic Parmesan seasoning had no flavor whatsoever. The macaroni and cheese balls were dry, flavorless and crunchy. The brisket was ok but not great. The green beans were too firm and tasted of artificial smoke flavor, as opposed to traditional barbecue, which are typically very tender and cooked with a fatty, smoked meat, like bacon. They are in desperate need of a salt shaker, right next to the deep fryer. Nothing that was fried had been salted. It's a small place so the noise level was a bit louder than I prefer. read more

Heather was an amazing waitress, she was so knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations! We went in on a Sunday night at 8pm and the food was fresh, hot, & amazing. The BEST brisket we have had probably ever. Melted in our mouths. We are both in the industry as a chef and a server and we love being able to support local places wherever we travel, and this is a must if you're out in the area, especially after a long day at six flags! Our 9 year old also loved it and it was definitely a family friendly atmosphere, plus the prices were unbelievable, for the 3 of us it was under $100 plus we got drinks and apps! Came here for brunch last weekend and was so impressed with everything. The food was absolutely amazing, the smokehouse Benedict was delicious and served on the best cornbread, with bbq brisket (or pulled pork) with a poached egg, with home fries. The food was better than most places in the area. The smokehouse Bloody Mary was also delicious in flavor and had great garnish. Espresso martinis and the endless options and mixes for mimosas were also very good! Service was great and everything came out fairly quick. We will definitely be back soon. After being closed for several month (for breakfast), there's breakfast once again on weekends and we were pleasantly surprised. Quick service, HOT food, great prices. The Crest is BACK for breakfast and it's worth a try. We love our Sunday breakfast and it's nice to add The Crest to the list. My only suggestion is there are too many has browns in the hash and very little corned beef. I'm sure that can be fixed, the kitchen is doing a great job and happily our server never forgot us. Second time there. Food was good. Mac and cheese is amazing. The ribs have been over done both times we went so it's a 4 star for us. It's almost like they're smoked the day before, then sauced to order then burned on the grill. It creates a hard layer and not enjoyable. Everything else we've had has been great. Service is awesome. Recently made a short trip back to my hometown, West Springfield, MA. Met up with some friends and had dinner at the Crest Room. I've been there many times before and the food has always been fair to good. This time things went off the rails. I ordered pasta with meatballs. The pasta came out cold, Lt warm but cold. The meatballs were burnt and hard as a rock. I asked to waitress to take the meatballs back to the kitchen and Bring out some fresh ones. Never happened. Tried the 3 meat sampler: ribs, brisket and pulled pork. For sides I got coleslaw, baked beans and it comes with a half a brick size of cornbread. My friend ordered a rack of ribs and an order of hand cut fries. The ribs have a dry rub where you can choose a sauce of choice. The ribs are lean of fat and fall right off the bone which is good. The coleslaw was a tad sweet and crunchy but nothing special. The baked beans I found very bland with a hint of molasses or ginger flavor. The pulled pork had good flavor and was all meat. What I found the best was the brisket which can be a hit or miss at bbq places. The brisket was perfect, no fat and very tender. My favorite side was the fries which were hand cut and fresh tasting, salted perfectly! I asked for sauce on the meat which was put on light so I used some of my friend's sauce they got on the side so I'd recommend choosing sauce on the side. Thought we'd try the newly renovated Crest Room in West Springfield, MA-- (Under new ownership) First, let me say we were frequent patrons of the "old" Crest Room and we loved the neighborhood feel and charm, the great food, the friendly chatter at the bar, et al. Upon entering this newly renovated model the word that came to mind was "sterile." Walls a repainted an unremarkable beige, the half wall that used to divide the dining from the bar is gone and in its place is a straight line of pub height two seater tables. To the far left against the unadorned walls are essentially four seater tables at regular height. TV's are hung around the back of the bar but the speakers are hung over the dining tables on the left wall which was disjointed and unsettling. There was no friendly chatter. Upon entering the one waitress handling the entire place told us to "find a table anywhere." We did. Five minutes later when she came to take our drink order she informed us the table we chose "is reserved for the people sitting behind us and their friends." WHAT? I asked (pleasantly) how were we to know that when A) There was no sign it was reserved, B) The people behind us did not say a word as we settled in and C) SHE (the waitress) told us to "pick any table." (Strange) We were about to relocate when the people at the table behind us said "Nevermind." Okay then... Gone are all the old favorites of the old menu. No more waffle fries and cheese, no fish fry, basically generic food which was unremarkable in taste and presentation. We ordered the Nachos and Cheese with Salsa and Sour Cream as an appetizer for the table. The waitress served it on the plate it was piled on. No utensils, no small plates, no napkins, no salsa, no sour cream. That was aggravating. We were halfway through our first drink before she circled round and when I caught her eye and asked for all that was missing she seemed quite put out. By the time she came back with utensils, etc she also had our dinner orders--Reuben and Fries, BLT and Fries, Chicken Quesadilla--- Needless to say the appetizer was cold and the nachos soggy by then. The Reuben was as good as it always was --Juicy and well toasted. Missed those waffle fries though! The hamburger was dry and the quesadilla was rubbery. I had a Bloody Mary-- Average in taste but a good deal at $7.00. The other two had beer--hard to mess that up. Once again (remember she was alone and there are, I'd estimate 16 to 18 tables)--we didn't see the waitress. She never checked to see if our food was as ordered or if we needed anything. I don't know if this was a "bad night" for this waitress or if she lacks personality but she was less than welcoming and barely efficient. I had to chuckle when she brought out "electronic" bill and the selections on top of our electronic bill were to opt for 25% tip, 35% tip, 45% tip etc. Yeah. No. Far to the left I found the minimum (20% tip according to them) and selected that. Guess if you want to stop for a few drinks it's semi-average...overall, though, I wont be back. Too bad the very good are sold to be turned into the merely adequate. read more

If you're from West Side, you've probably already dealt with your grief and mourning about the death of this place. I held off my review because snap judgments aren't always fair and accurate..but HOLY $?it ! What an utter bastardization of this place!! If they actually hired a designer, was it someone they found on Groupon?! You work with the bones. Is the industrial look cool? Sure.. but it serves a purpose. To make a LARGE industrial space look attractive. You don't take a place that has cozy charm and vibe of an old world pub and strip it of all its character. It basically looks like someone's fixed off basement now. No one from WS is getting over this. Ruined. The positive: food has gotten MUCH better since the beginning of new ownership. Took me a while to step foot in here again after grand reopening in which we were served a "Lunchable" pizza and other terrible frozen fare. Much , much better now. The BBQ addition is good. They are currently building an outdoor pavilion which is looking great. This will be a fantastic addition for some nice outdoor seating and live music...plus it will get you away from the "fixed off basement". :) Definitely not my jam but you should try it yourself. read more
