We drive from Ft Payne Al to eat at the Rome Ga Longhorn almost weekly. But tonight we had our second bad experience. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin well done. My husband ordered the same medium well. To start with my knife was dirty. Then I had rotten lettuce in my salad and some dressing down one side even though I ordered it with no dressing. Our steaks came out and mine was bloody and blood was all over my plate. The waitress took it back. Then my husband ordered cut his and it was raw and cold and she said I am getting the manager. They brought mine back and it was black and I cut into it and it was red still and it was bleeding and they had sent it back out on the original plate with blood ect all over the food. I told them not to bother taking it back because it had made me sick. I took off the potato and I had ordered mushrooms and I had 5 in a little cup. They brought mine my husband's steak back and it was on a new clean plate and was well done so I knew someone in the kitchen could cook. The manager said he would get me a box for my steak and I said no thank you I am not eating it. He did take my steak off but his attitude was very bad and I felt uncomfortable with him. While we waited there was a lady who came in and her to go order had a bun and fries but nothing in the bun. The waitress took and manager were laughing about it. We left a few minutes later and she was still waiting on her sandwich. It was after 7 pm when we left and the restaurant was not even half full. I hope the owner will clean this location up and get help that makes customers feel welcome before they go out of business. Have always had a positive experience until today. Online order did not process correctly causing us to not receive the sides we expected. Our fault or their fault became irrelevant when the manager became argumentative. I ended up paying $12.49 for a hamburger patty with onions and mushrooms. Nice restaurant, very comfortable and very clean, great staff, accommodating to 2 women dining. Each of us got a salad and it was great - and we split a steak, that's where the staff got an A+ for accommodations. My vote is A+ all around! We moved to the area almost a year ago and were a bit hesitant to go to LongHorn because of past experiences with other locations. I'm glad we started going. The food is always above average quality, and the service is almost always attentive and respectful without being overbearing. All in all, this is a good, reasonably priced (compared to the quality of food and service received) restaurant. The strip mall parking is a bit tenuous at times, but we can deal with it. read more

I just had the most irritating experience tonight at this location. My card was misplaced. I realized it was missing once down the road. I came back less 5minutes later. My waitress, Tina, didn't even acknowledge my present once I stepped into the restaurant. Constantly avoiding conversation. The hostees and the manager were making more of an effort to find my card than the waitress who swiped it in the first place. I sat inside the restaurant for about 20 minutes, trying to understand the story of what happened and who has my card. Because my waitress did see my card and didn't follow protocol. Went to Longhorns in Calhoun, GA, on Monday night, June 27th. Audrey was our waitress and was outstanding. She was friendly and personable; she treated us as friends instead of just customers. She brought our orders out to us very quickly and continued to stop back by every few minutes to see if we needed anything. The lobster was succulent and tender and the garlic butter dipping sauce just made it even better. I had the 6 oz Flo's Filet, it was cooked just as i asked for it and was so tender i didn't even need a knife to cut it. Service was awesome, food was great and I'm already planning another visit next week. If you haven't been, i recommend you check it out ASAP. Off-putting from the get go. The entry foyer smelled like someone threw up there and the attempt to clean it and get rid of the smell just didn't work. Once you enter the main dining area the smell was only slightly better. The entire establishment just smells OLD and moldy. I know that dinner guests must be even distributed throughout the restaurant so as to not overload the wait staff, however, when entered the restaurant was only about half full and we were led to a booth positioned between the entrances to the restrooms and the kitchen area. That made for a lot of traffic around our table. My wife got the salmon and was very pleased with her meal. I got the rib eye steak and it was adequate. They menu states that it is well marbled and tender. I don't think a rind of fat around the outside edge counts as well marbled. The photo on the menu also depicts a fairly thick cut of meat. What was delivered to the table was large in overall dimension but thin. It was roughly 1/4 inch thick. Usually when I order a medium steak it is fairly pink on the inside. This piece of meat was so thin that there was probably a very narrow margin of cooking to go from rare to well done so the meat was a bit more done than I expected. To be fair, the steak was flavorful and fairly tender but still was slightly off the mark in terms of overall quality, mostly due to the thin cut. The waitress (sorry I don't remember her name) was very polite, efficient, and accommodating. Her service was great and she made sure we had plenty of bread and kept our beverages filled. Once the meal was complete, she was prompt in delivering the check so we didn't have to sit and wait forever once we were finished and ready to leave. It deserves more than 2 stars but definitely not 3. The place mostly needs to be closed down and completely renovated to make it fresh again. The food was acceptable but I would probably not return until the facilities were improved. read more

I don't if it's just me but this Longhorn seems smaller than other Longhorns that I have been to. But with that aside the food was good. Nothing that just blew me away but good. The service was again good. Our poor waitress got double sat with a group of 6 and us. But she did good for the most part. When you go out and spend a little extra by going to place like Longhorn you expect a little more. Don't get me wrong, I've never really had bad food here, but they might need to spend a little more time training their younger wait staff how to negotiate carrying an awkwardly beveled square plate. I've seen a waiter nearly drop my chicken sandwich and fries twice at this location. Or maybe they shouldn't be putting steak'n'potato-esque food on pretentious plates? Not much to say about a chain steakhouse. It was a Friday night (with a prom in town), so the wait was a little longer than usual-almost an hour for 2 people. Once we were seated we were promptly greeted by our server, Heather (I think?). We ordered the chili cheese fries and strawberry margaritas to start. They were all great. They were out of Caesar dressing, so no Caesar salads were available. The wait for our main course was about normal. I ordered my steak medium rare because in the past I've ordered medium here and it has been well overcooked. As to be expected the cooks are not well trained in meat temps/doneness. They hear the word rare and think it should barely be cooked. My steak was definitely not medium rare, but more rare. I did not send it back because, after dating people who worked here and other restaurants, I don't trust sending my food back anywhere. Overall, average experience. Sub par service and food. I called ahead to ask about a reservation for Mother's Day. I was told they don't do reservations but, I could call when they open to request a call ahead. I was not told that just put us on the wait list, it was implied we could eat when we got in. I call today at 11, the hostess took my name, asked how many were in my party and what time we wanted to eat. Sounds like we would eat at the time I wanted. We get to the restaurant and I give the hostess my name and they hand me a buzzer. I ask how long the wait is, as I already put my name down. He tells me it's an hour and the call ahead just puts you on the waitlist. What was the point in taking my information down? I would not be as upset if the correct information had been communicated to me earlier as opposed to when o walked in expecting to be seated. This is the Longhorn location we visit most often, probably because it is most convenient, but also because we have never had a server who wasn't super sweet and very attentive. And we all know that no matter how good the food is at any eatery if the service isn't good, you don't enjoy going there. Usually, we just get lunch or soup and an appetizer. We are seldom in Rome at dinner time to get dinner here. My husband and daughter always get the French Onion - it is really good here and nice and cheesy. The flavor of the broth is excellent. I get the shrimp and lobster chowder, which is nice and creamy with just a little bit of spice to it. I don't like spicy stuff, so someone who does might not even notice the spice in it. We've never gone wrong with either of these soups. Now to my gripe, which has nothing to do with this location but with Longhorn's menu in general. I understand that the menu does, and should, change seasonally to keep the food at the peak of freshness. But they change it so often it is hard to find a favorite and then find it gone the next time :( This happened between my last two visits which were less than a month apart. I had the fried cheese curds in November, and they were long gone this month and nothing that replaced it appealed to me. My go-to is the classic burger - they serve a nice thick patty that is cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The little chips with bacon are the best, so good that I wish you could get those as a side instead of fries. My daughter used to get a chicken sandwich that had avocado, but as is the norm, it isn't on the menu anymore, so she tried the new chicken salad that had strawberries and feta and she loved it. My husband got the firecracker chicken wraps. They were good, but WAY overpriced. They were the same price as my soup and burger combo! Not worth that much money, for sure. read more

Even though Longhorns has been in Rome for years, we'd never eaten there. Today, on a whim we decided to give it a try. Well we were not disappointed. Our waitress, Amanda was very sweet and personable. The food was very good. Hubby had a t-bone and I had a well done steakhouse burger. As we waited, we were served warm wheat bread and butter. A nice touch. Side salads with their own ranch dressing (nice, with a touch of what I believe was dill). Also a side of their macaroni and cheese- parmesan and bacon with a nice crusty topping. The appetizer we chose was a "Tonion"... Basically onion rings without being rings. More like onion pieces. Breaded and drizzled with a light sour cream sauce, they came with a spicy ring sauce that was excellent. We will definitely order that again! We like to visit restaurants at off times so there's no maddening crowd. Business was brisk on Sunday at 3pm, but not clamorous. Very peaceful. Even though we ordered a lot of food (needed a to go box to bring our leftovers home) the bill was less than $55. Very affordable considering we visited a comparable restaurant a couple of months ago and our bill was higher and the food wasn't nearly as good! They have a full bar, but we didn't partake. I visited today along with 9 of my co-workers for 3 of their birthdays. There were two servers assigned to our table. Every time something was wrong we were told "oh we were just confused". I had the firecracker chicken wraps; the wraps were ok and the lettuce was pink, which is unsafe to eat and should NEVER be served to a customer. Two of my co-workers did not receive their salads until their entrée came, which they both said they wanted it prior to their entrée. My drink was never refilled and neither was several of my co-workers. We were not asked how everything was after receiving our meals. Our waitresses became snippy and rude to us. I have lived in Rome for over 20 years, and I have come to find out Rome has terrible restaurant customer service, almost across the board. With that being said, Longhorn was the absolute worst experience I have had. My husband and waited over 90 minutes to receive our food and our waitress was nowhere to be found when we needed refills. We asked a manager passing by about when our food would be coming out, and she simply gave an excuse saying they had a larger party which had taken priority and she and our waitress were too busy to worry about us.
