The food when it comes out is AMAZING! Unfortunately, they are going through some kitchen staffing issues, and we waited 2 1/2 hours for our food. Tables around us were in after us and out way before us, and when we inquired, we got nothing but excuses and lies. When the dishes finally appeared, several of them were just wrong. Sides included that we did not order, ahhhh, it was just sad. That said the wait staff did try and were amiable. Probably wouldn't go back anytime soon. Stopped here for lunch on a quick weekend trip. We were walking past and saw everyone's food and it looked amazing. They have a lot of country style foods, including fried okra, fried green tomatoes, biscuits, and fried chicken. We sat outside on the patio because the weather was nice. Fun, eclectic eatery located in the heart of downtown Rome. The space is wide open and has a small, hometown feel to it with fun art and memorabilia hanging from the ceiling and walls. Down in Rome this past weekend and decided to get into the Harvest Moon, as I had never been. Asking my girlfriend how it was, she just answered "okay". I now agree with her. This is a Southern Restaurant in a southern town. So I opted for a Shepherd's Pie from the St Paddy's Day menu. Yeah, go figure. It was rather bland. When I make this dish, I use ample cream in the potatoes (Irish style) and make a thicker, more moist pie, with a good deal of tomato in it. This was a bland substitute. Far better the next day when I added in enough butter to make the potatoes shine. I will give props for using lamb on this. She had the salmon patties. Fairly simple, also rather bland. Mashed potatoes as well. Breading on the okra was fine. Staff? Very friendly waiter. Answered all the questions and even described the drinks. As this has a good craft beer selection, I opted for one I had not had before and she got a smokey old fashioned. The old fasthioned did not have the cherries or orange peel you would normally see, but was rather strong and did use a rye whiskey. I would not go there for the drink, but reasonably priced. The ambiance is great. Typical of Rome, GA establishments, you can feel the history. They also have a rooftop bar and a separate bar area, for those seeking out a drink or two. Summary: The experience was good, but the food was bland. If you like to heavily salt your food, this might not be as big of a deal. On the whole, 3 stars, for average. Compared to other places in Rome, some of which are really bad, you would prefer this to many places. Nothing really bad to say, but nothing really good. Just average. read more

Great lunch find in Rome. The staff was super friendly and super helpful. My wife got the Grain Salad. She pulled a few things off and changed the dressing and they were more than happy to accommodate the requests. I got the Cheesesteak, which was excellent. The steak was plentiful and the veggies were just the right amount. I haven't full jumped in the pimento cheese wagon as of yet, but it was a great addition to the sandwich. They had lots of sides to choose from. I jumped at the fried okra (made fresh) and was glad I did. It was outstanding! This was a cool place with a good vibe to it. read more

I was greeted and seated right away when I arrived, which set the tone for a great visit. I ended up going up to the "Moon Roof," where they had karaoke going on--it made for such a fun atmosphere! The candied jalapeños on top of the goat cheese were a great added touch. My friend had the Red Headed Stranger burger and WOW- it was perfect just the way it is on the menu. I was teetering back-and-forth between the OMGBLT and the salmon patties, but since I had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, I went with the salmon patties. They did not disappoint! Also, the cheese grits get a huge notable mention as a side... Don't skip these! The place has a great nostalgic, flair and southern charm without being "country". read more

I was so excited to try this spot based on other reviews on yelp. The service was wonderful and the interior of the restaurant had an old hunting lodge feel. Unfortunately, the food fell flat for me. We ordered fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They came with goat cheese and a candied jalapeño. They were good, but I thought there was a little too much breading. I prefer a light corn meal breading and these seemed a little heavy. I had the black bean burger and a side of macaroni and cheese. The burger had no seasoning and fell apart when I tried to eat it. It was a mess. The macaroni was dry and tasteless, like it had been sitting out too long. I really wanted to love this spot, but I'm sorry to say I can't recommend it. read more

This was my second time going to Harvest Moon, and it was just as good as I remembered. They have a special pimento cheese they make that is delicious. I had smothered chicken with collard greens and garlic mashed potatoes. Very good meal. The atmosphere is interesting. Love the original brick. The theme is confusing but eclectic. Lowering to three stars. Still a cute little place but each time we've gone it seems like we've liked it less. The deviled egg appetizer is always slightly frozen. The cole slaw is horrible. The soda was flat. The waitress seemed annoyed that my husband changed his drink and that I didn't like the coke slaw. read more

The service and food quality have gone downhill and we used to love this place. My wife and I got there about 6:30 or so. Seated right away. We requested the patio because it was a nice evening. Server was prompt with taking our drink orders while we sat and looked at the menu. Their was one other couple out there already. The server came back with our drinks and took our order. We sat there for about 20 minutes before seeing our server again. When we did we ordered another drink. That came relatively quick. Another 10 minutes goes by and a runner brings us our food. My wife had a Rueben and I had the Cuban sandwich with sweet potato chips with both. We also ordered some of the Gorgonzola dip to go with it. Both of our sandwiches were room temperature at best. My wife's cheese didn't even look like it had melted and our half filled bowl of dip was slightly warm in the very center but already had the skin/crust on top of it. I ate half of my sandwich because I was so hungry. My wife ate about two bites. During this entire time we never saw our server again not even to check and see if we were enjoying our food. When she did come by we asked for to-go boxes. Now I wanted to say something but my wife didn't want me to so I relented to her. Our bill came up to $71.70. for 4 beers 2 room temperature sandwiches and a dip. It was a very disappointing meal. read more

Went to the Harvest Moon Cafe thinking we were eating at the Dark Side of the Moon, and came to realize the Dark Side is a connected bar. No live music this Monday night, so we were bummed. Ordered the corned beef Reuben and my co-worker ordered a burger. Apparently he was much more pleased than I was. The sandwich was so-so, definitely not one of their specialties, and the shrimp, while appearing well cooked, smelled fishy. Shrimp should NOT smell fishy. Beyond that it was not seasoned at all... tasting as though it had been thrown on the grill right out of the ocean. The okra while seasoned, was soft and mushy. We were excited to try this restaurant as it's highly recommended as far as we had heard. They did not have any non-alcoholic beer options, which is super unfortunate this day and age. I got a soda and it tasted a bit like chemicals and I had to pick out a strange "floater" from the drink. I got the Thai chicken and my partner had the house pasta dish. The pasta had zero flavor, like the noodle literally had no taste, it didn't even taste like pasta, it tasted of nothing, which baffled both of us. It was probably the blandest thing I've ever tried at a restaurant. The Thai chicken was full of flavor, but I was a bit concerned on the cook on the diced chicken. We had some gastrointestinal issues that night and next day (my partner had eaten my leftover Thai chicken for lunch), which confirmed for me that the chicken must have been undercooked... We were very disappointed, given that this place had more than 4 stars at the time of us trying it out. Not sure if it was a bad night or what, but considering that it was bad across all items received, we won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. In Rome for a geocaching event. Restaurants & shops couldn't have been any more welcoming! We had heard rave reviews about pimina dip & the sweet potato soufflé & both lived up to the hype! We were pretty hungry when we arrived, so I forgot to take pictures. I had the fresh salmon patties with fried okra & steamed fresh veggies. My daughter had the meatloaf with collards, sweet potato soufflé & cheese grits. Everything was perfectly seasoned. Our server was helpful when asked about items in the menu & was awesome at keeping my water glass full, which was no small feat! I went inside with my children to get a gift card. A nice gentleman said that I would need to go to the bar to get the gift card. We went up to the bar and the woman working the bar was very disrespectful and had an awful attitude. Attended Harvest Moon during St. Patrick's Day weekend was Good & BAD experience. Starting off w/the "good"; the band & music was AWESOME, as well as, atmosphere, bar service & drinks. Ordered the bars Daily Special of Corned Beef & Cabbage expecting an awesome dish; receiving an atrocious bowl of "soup" lacking temperature containing what looked like 3-day old soggy cabbage with potatoes & carrots swimming in a broth of dingy water that had been drained thru a pair of dirty athletic socks with stripped pieces of meat. It was sent back 2X's to no avail still receiving the same. Finished my 2-martinis and left with an empty stomach. disappointing read more
