Pharmacy girl seemed more annoyed than anything. Had to wait for prescription so used bathroom. One of the grossest bathrooms I've been in. It is consistently disgusting with crap on the toilet, hair all over sink, no paper towels to dry hands. This bathroom gets A LOT of foot traffic as pretty much anyone who lives Upcountry Maui, goes to Kulamalu Longs. My message to the management is: invest in someone to clean your bathroom. AI phone service is absolutely frustrating and a waste of time. Took me 15 min and talking to AI and being sent in circles to get a hold of pharmacy. Had to call back and ask for front store to reach a human who connected me with Pharmacy and i wad able to ask a question. We were up in Pukalani and stopped at this longs. It is a very busy store with lots of choices besides the pharmacy-food, everyday items, large liquor dept. I liked aisles were wide and shelves looked full so easy got what we were looking for. Store looked clean and very well maintained. They had 3 check outs open and 4-5 people in each line. The lines moved quickly the clerk apologized for there being a line that they were short handed. If your in this area stop by and check this location out. read more

I'm glad there is a Longs Upcountry. I wish that the CVS stores in the bay area had weekly sales like they do here. In CA, I'll shop at CVS around two or three times a year. Here, I shop at Longs theee times a week! Their sale prices are very reasonable. However, their stock is very limited and they sometimes run out of sale items the first two days of their sale! You'd think they'd order a little more knowing a lot of Upcountry people shop here. Still, I spend way more money here than I do at CVS. Yes, I know CVS bought out Longs a few years ago; but, love that Longs in Hawai'i still has their "coupon book" sales monthly and their weekly ad sales. You can never have too many Hawaiian Sun canned juices, right?! I will say that they should have more cashiers. Every time I walk into the store whether it be during the day or night; there are either one or two cashiers. I remember when we were little and the Longs in Kahului would have 6+ cashiers. I'm sure this is another CVS corporate decision. The tall manager with the long braided hair is friendly and definitely knows "her stuff". When I see her working, I know if I have an issue with my Extra Bucks or some other app issue, she'll know how to ring me up correctly vs looking at me dazed and confused saying it's a "wi-fi issue". So this is probably the 10th time I've gone into the store to ask for a medication that I am sure is over the counter. Today the very rude lady servicing. The pharmacy window told me that this medication required a prescription. And then walked away. I literally ordered the medication off of Amazon right in longs. No prescription necessary. When people go to a Pharmacy, it's generally because they are not feeling well. This is the time when you treat people with respect and kindness. Not apathy. Many have shared similar stories about this particular employee. I will be seeking out another pharmacy. I sure do miss Foodland pharmacy where they were actually nice! read more

We shop at this particular Longs occasionally when upcountry and we used to know where everything was but recently they remodeled and it looks so different. I will give these guys credit. I am sure they are being overwhelmed by all the prescriptions since food land pharmacy closed and the next competent pharmacy is located in kahului. They have done a pretty good job with my prescriptions and I like the fact that I can enroll in the auto refill option for meds I have. The store is also usually well lit and pretty clean. The employees are usually pretty friendly. The only thing that drives me nuts is the constant beeping from one of there drink coolers. If I wasn't on medication already the beeping is enough to put me on some. I don't know how the poor staff puts up with it. Ok well for now that's pretty much the whole picture. Oh and the prices are ok on most of the stuff especially if it saves you a trip down the hill. Especially with the price of gas. read more

I'm really disappointed that all these years have gone by and them getting most of the foodland Pharmacy Rx's now, and they are still very rude at the pharmacy. I've used them intermittently due to different insurance companies with employment. But they are still so rude to their customers who come in for medications. Their system was down today, so they couldn't see my son's Rx from the ER. So I asked if I could go get a paper copy or have the ER Dr call and verbal it. The technician at the pharmacy counter with the beautiful braids was so fricking rude with her tone, unwilling to help, and her facial expression towards me and my teenage son that just came from the er. They need to be way nicer to their community and have some compassion for those who are seeking help. I would give 0 star's for the multiple rude service over the years at the pharmacy, but I gave 2 star's because the store manager and the cashiers in the general store side are very nice and helpful as always. The pharmacy manager or head pharmacist could use some training to help her staff work with people a bit better. I called the er Dr while in line with odds n ends and he offered to call them, but I declined and asked him to send it to town, as this pharmacy is very rude and I did snap back at her and tell her how rude she was. I apologize if anyone had to hear my little remark and me showing ass, but sometimes those rude people need to know, and we don't deserve to be treated like that. read more

Longs is an institution here in the Islands. Otherwise known as CVS, but they retained their beloved name so Islanders will continue to shop here. You can find a whole lot of everything you need above and beyond just drugstore stuff. With many locations across the island you're not too far from a Longs Drugs. This location claims to be the largest Longs in the islands, or at least that was the case when it was built a few years ago. Not sure if it still retains that distinction. The employees are always friendly and helpful and it's a pleasure to shop at your neighborhood Longs Drugs. Plenty of free parking of course. I believe they have a senior discount on some days so be sure to ask. read more

This is my #1 place to shop upcountry. They have the quality Nexxus and Matrix hair I need, choke snax fo grind, and last minute meal prep ideas can be executed flawlessly here. Really one of the worst retail stores around. I made the mistake of getting one prescription filled at their pharmacy, and they robocalled me 3-4 times a week for a year even after I asked them to stop multiple times. Long's used to stock equipment for family trips to the beach. Now they don't even have coolers, very little beach gear - not even any things like frisbees! The food selection is just gross - no decent ice cream for those late night munchies, and the most tired and wilted vegetables on the island. They are supposed to take passport pictures, but nobody at the store knows how to work the equipment. I wasted $35 dollars trying to get acceptable passport photos before giving up and going to Walgreens. Why does this store even exist? This store is completely useless 90% of the time. I keep going there, and walk out empty handed most of the time because they don't stock anything. Upcountry deserves better. read more

One of the newest locations on Maui, this one is nestled in the country, in a place called Kulamalu. If you're not familiar with the area, it's a new neighborhood that was recently developed within the past few years, that's situated between Pukalani and Kula...which are my two favorite towns. My old stomping grounds....where I grew up. I'm a country girl at heart! I LOVE THIS LOCATION! The first reason is because, well, as you heard above, it's located in the country between two of my favorite towns! Lol. I also LOVE the view from this location. In the mauka direction you see the beautiful Haleakala mountain range, to the right you see Kula, and in the makai direction you see the awesome panoramic view of Kahului and Kihei. Just. Spectacular! The second reason I love this location is because of the parking. It's never crowded and you'll always find parking. Any time of day. Third, they provide you with the best customer service! Sometimes they are understaffed but the cashiers are very quick and efficient so the line moves quickly...just the way I like it. I also love the architectural design of this particular Longs. Since it's situated in the country, the design looks like a "country" store, more than it does any other Longs. I LOVE IT. So, enough of me babbling about how much I love this Longs. If you're ever on Maui, have a car and some time, head up to Kulamalu, or "upcountry" as the locals call it, and check out this LongsI Maybe take a trip to Haleakala to see the sunrise one morning and visit on the way back down....or, take a trip to Kula, to the Lavender Farm, and stop on the way...OR, stop along the way heading up Ulupalakula to the winery. Once in a while they have a yellow book sale which you save even more. They have many varieties of medication and if you have a cvs card and you purchase a cvs brand of medication you save money. My favorite Longs! Ok so it's s chain, but maybe because it's upcountry, it feels more like a "local" stand alone store. Employees are always welcoming and ready to help you find what you're looking for. Cupboard bare and don't want to drive to town for groceries? They have a good selection of pantry staples as well as a small fresh produce section, dairy products, as well as local Maui beef. They have a liquor section with your favorite pau hana brews nice and chill. Need a last minute gift, you're sure to be able to find something here even fresh flowers ! The pharmacy has the nicest service and if they don't have what you are looking for they will get it for you usually next day. They have all the usual stuff too! Stationary , school supplies, greeting cards, cosmetics, household, toys, beach needs, they really try to cover all the bases. This drugstore is open late (the store is generally open until 10pm, but the pharmacy closes a bit earlier) and offers easy and convenient access right off the Kula Highway between Pukalani and Kula. The discounted/sale items at Longs are great deals and reasonably priced. If you live upcountry and need something late, but you don't want to drive all the way to town to get it, this (or Foodland) is your go-to spot. Product selection is decent, considering the small size of the store. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the wine selection also. A drugstore with good wines? Yes, it exists. Not only was it expensive but it was stale! And I bought some CVS brand "Tums" The EXACT same item had two different prices I examined the bottles closely to see what the difference was The difference was the price THat's it! Normally , I like shopping here. The pharmacy services however , I question. Had a prescription mishap with the doctor. Was informed by Longs pharmacy in regards to prescription, called Doctors office so they could fix it. They said they would, still no call from Dr or pharmacy about RX . In pain all night. Called Drs office at 800 am this morning and tell them about the prescription I never received nor any communication of said prescription. Called Longs Drugs At 100 pm and the person in the pharmacy was rude but told me that the medicine was ready this morning. I'm not a psychic or mind reader! How the hell am I supposed to know if I'm NOT informed. CUSTOMER SERVICE sucks these days!! No professionalism, no common courtesy, no respect. If the shoe was on the other foot they too would be feeling equally as frustrated and pissed off. It's gonna be a chore but I have to find different providers. Ever since CVS took over Longs, they are ALWAYS out of everything. Don't think that this is the Longs of your youth. It is a mainland corporate entity that consistently is out of stock. The customer service reps are clueless and will tell you they currently have items in the store and when you arrive 5 min later you'll find they are out and never did have the items. They had what I wanted, but I couldn't get the $1 off sale price because the cashier insisted I had to use a CVS card - which I don't have - to get the $1 off. She didn't even offer to open one for me. She was just rude about it & insisted I must have a CVS where I live (in Seattle). Yes we do have CVS in Seattle, but since we are sooo densely populated I don't have to go to CVS because there are two other drug stores within 1 mile of my house. This Longs is conveniently located between Pukalni and Kula, off the Kula highway. There is a large parking lot and I hardly ever have a problem finding parking. They have a wide variety of the usual "drugstore" stuff, plus they also have part of an aisle devoted to Hawaiian items--souveniers, greeting cards, etc. They also have a Sanrio section, where I purchase Hello Kitty items for my friends who love HK. I use their pharmacy and the staff is friendly and courteous.They have one small health food aisle. They have a small produce section, as well as a refrigerated section. My husband loves to shop for Maui Cattle steaks there--very inexpensive! They now have a Care program which gives you various coupons when you check out using your card, and a "reward" every quarter. I've never gotten more than about $5 or $6 as my reward, but I'll take it! They have specials which start on Sundays, and these items often sell out, so don't wait too long to get them. And, they recently announced that they will no longer be selling cigarettes--way to go Longs! read more
