Yet what keeps me coming over and over is the wall of SPAM they have, YES YOU HEARD ME CORRECT... Many flavors of that mystery meat in the card to choose from so I always stock up... Will say the pharmacy is top notch cause I've needed to pick up medications that were ordered on the mainland and I was able have them filled here.... Incredible service and very nice staff behind the counter.... This might be a good place if you're a local and come here regularly but maybe not so much for out of towners. The checkout is incredibly incredibly slow even with only one or two people ahead. The cashier I got was catching up with or something with the guy ahead of me. I wish I'd have stepped into the lane beside me where a dozen-ish people went through the checkout before me. So friendly if you're a local, unmoved if you're not. Otherwise this felt like a quaint little store with lots of local foods. Stop by at Longs Drugs for a few quick forgotten items, such as Reef Safe Sunscreen and bottled water for the trip to the beach. It sure feels like my CVS at home but the name has not changed to CVS in Maui. The store is clean and organized. The people working there are helpful. I love shopping at Long's. They have all of the usual drug store items along with a huge variety of snacks and souvenirs. They had a great sale on macadamia nuts so, of course, I had to buy more. They are a sister company to CVS so I was able to use coupons in my app, which was a nice surprise. read more

It's great to have a drug store nearby with such a great variety of goods available. Prices are a little high but it's offset by coupons and the convenience. Some of the checkout people could use some attitude adjustment but others are very nice. The people in the pharmacy are very polite and helpful. Arrived to the pharmacy counter at 1:28PM to pick up a medication I just received a call was ready for at 1:26PM and the person at the counter said I'd need to come back in 30 minutes because they needed to go to lunch. I know I'm not a local and maybe they have a strict rule on 1:30PM on the dot clock out, but as someone who isn't staying nearby right now, this was super frustrating. read more

I've always enjoyed shopping at Longs and greatly prefer the experience over going to Walmart or Costco, if I can manage it. I was worried that the chain would change too drastically when merged with CVS years ago, but thankfully, all my favorite aspects about them have remained in tact. They continue to be my go-to place for local, Asian-Hawaiian products and treats and have saved me many times when in need of certain last minute medical supplies. Recently, while home for Christmas vacation, they saved my neck again when I ran out of blood glucose test strips. If you're diabetic or just careful about monitoring your blood sugar levels, then you know how essential it is to have these test strips. They were the only store open besides Walgreens on Christmas in the area, and I was able to get not only the CVS brand test strips but a brand new, cheap glucose meter as well. I only had a Reli-On (Walmart) meter and a One Touch meter, so it was essential to have a meter compatible with those CVS strips. Luckily, everything out of pocket was very affordable, and now I have an extra meter, so I can buy strips for any one of them. In addition to finding my my medical supplies at the Kihei location, I stocked up on Hoy Hoy Trap-a-Roach glue traps from the Kahului location as well. At less than $3 per 5-pack, they're a much better deal than you can find online and always in stock at Longs in Hawaii. For the life of me I cannot find these traps in any Atlanta, Georgia store! I'm guessing they must be regionally stocked, since they come from a California company and are originally from Japan. In any case, they are the most effective method to getting rid of roaches fast (pest control spraying aside) that I've ever seen. I highly recommend them, if you're unsure of a roach control method to use but don't want to spray around your house. Thanks again, Longs for saving the day! read more

Instead of going to Mega warehouses or grocery stores, buy your small goods at Longs, since many of the necessities of travel can not be taken back on the airlines. I've needed so many sundries on this trip, but found the big warehouse stores and grocery stores did not carry them. The smaller packages are just as economical as the family sized portions, and are less wasteful at the end of the trip. read more

I think their prices on Mac nut products are generally lower than those at Foodland or Times. I bought a bunch of stuff to take home as gifts. The pharmacy is poorly managed, rude and it appears they don't care about their customers. I came earlier in the day and the line was almost to the front of the store. I came back again later and the line was shorter. I stood in line for 5 to 10 minutes, only to hear as I approached the window for my turn that they would not be able to serve me because they were "going to lunch." I politely explained that I had been waiting in their line well before their "lunch time" and that I had one item and could they please grab it for me. They told me no and locked up and left. Does the job and reminds me of the longs drugs we used to have in the Bay Area before they converted to CVS pharmacies. Kids loved the toy and seasonal section, plus they have some souvenirs to go. Self check out, takes cvs rewards, open 24/7- seems to fit expectations. read more

So fun to see a Longs Drugs straight out of my childhood. They had a nice souvenir section, large beer selection and lots of local stuff. Much easier than trying to get through the Walmart in Kahului, and way smarter than buying sunscreen, souvenirs and snacks at a hotel gift shop. Longs is the place. There's great restaurants nearby, and the swap meet is across the street. I love this little shopping spot in Kihei town. read more

Horrible experience!!! My family and I are vacationing from Boston. My husband had a muscular issue which sent him to the ER at Maui Memorial during our stay. Took the prescription to this pharmacy upon his discharge and was told it would be a 2 hour wait for it to be filled. My husband needed the prescription sooner than the 2 hour wait as he was in pain and waiting in a taxi outside. When I questioned the wait, the pharmacist, Vanessa came out and was furious that I questioned the wait time and told me to leave. I was flabbergasted! So incredibly unprofessional and unkind! Is this how she would want to be treated if this was her loved one? She should not be in a profession working with people who are having medical issues as she is uncaring and cold. Do NOT go to this pharmacy if you have a choice. Cruel staff!!! read more

This is a review for the pharmacy only. These "professionals" are terrible at their jobs and have no idea how to communicate with people. Yet, more importantly, they do not keep stock of medications that need to be refilled at the same time each month. I am constantly running out of my meds and I only end up getting them (4-5 days late) by constantly calling and going in to the store to put pressure on them. I (and my doctor) have requested that they order this medication before my refill date so we can avoid the problem etc....they dont listen and they dont change a broken system. Its a stressful and dysfunctional situation to be using Longs of Kihei for my medications. They do not listen. They do not try and problem solve. They talk down to you. They simply don't care. If I could go elsewhere for all of my meds, I would. If people had other options and they had actual competition in the market, this pharmacy would be out of business in a week I suspect; as I know for a fact I am not alone in these frustrations. But Longs has a monopoly on Maui and thats bad for everyone. The employees seem miserable, so clearly the corporation's culture isnt healthy either. All a bit ironic for a business that is supposed to be helping people and providing life changing/saving medications. I actually would fly to a pharmacy on another island once a month to pick up my medications if I could. read more

I believe her name was Beth, I called to see if they had a certain item in stock considering it says they do online, but in the middle of my question after being put on hold to be transferred to the manager, Beth picked up again and during my request, hung up during me talking. It's a good store with very friendly, helpful staff and reasonable prices, but the stock of a lot of things seem to be quite low. Check a couple days later and they might have things that weren't there before. So CVS bought out all the independent pharmacies in south Maui, forcing us to go to their main store on south kihei rd. Of course they are always out of stock and can not follow up on my med scripts in a timely manner. Another issue is you cant ever get a hold of anyone to complain about it to who will admit they have an issue and need to fix it. This Long's is definitely way much better than the one back in my hometown of Alameda. They're open 24/7 and they have more merchandise on their shelves. I'm not particularly fond of a store with empty shelves. My husband needed a certain brand of hand lotion (Curel), a manicure set, and I found the perfect canvas tote bag (purple - my fav color) for 99 cents. Curel is a brand that we can't find in CVS or Walgreen in Alameda. I'm glad we stopped in at this store. They also accepted my CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare card for our purchases. I don't know when they will change their signage from Long's to CVS. The employees here are courteous and helpful, something I don't see too often at CVS back home. read more

Making you stand in line over and over again because of mistakes they had made and then when they're out of a prescription that they didn't let me know they were out of, they tell me that they can't transfer it to another pharmacy. The pharmacy used to be a nice smooth operation with generally pleasant people working there. Not any more. The last year or so its changed. Even pre covid. Clearly a front counter turnover and a hassled pharmacist. Exceptions? Certainly. But fewer. Long wait lines, messed up prescriptions and reorders that keep piling up that you never wanted. Systemic issues. CVS hasnt done this place any good. You try calling them on the phone (yeah, I know...dream on) and it never ever gets answered.
