    Floor started sinking

Noticed our floor was sinking one awful day. Discovered that previous owner's had "fixed" the foundation of my house only aesthetically, and that 4 key support columns were sinking and leaning sideways. I interviewed multiple contractors, and am incredibly happy we went with Edwin. His crew got started promptly, and worked professionally and were pleasant to chat with. Edwin explained how foundation support columns such as mine are supposed to be built, and also pointed out that the seismic retrofit that was done in our crawlspace was woefully inadequate. Edwin's team replaced the faulty support columns and completed the seismic retrofit on time, and on budget. I will absolutely be calling Edwin back when it is time to do any more work on my house. Highly recommend these guys.

    Yes we do

I'm looking for a contractor to remove an old paved driveway and lay down a new one. Then build a modest Garage or Carport on top. Is E R Home Improvement capable of doing that at a reasonable cost?

After my insurance company caused complications that led to First Call terminating the job which I understood, I received an invoice in May of last year. I paid that balance in full with two separate checks within two weeks. I have the receipts, the copies of the checks, and the bank statements showing exactly when First Call cashed them. After a full year of zero communication, I woke up today to a voicemail and email threatening to send me to collections within 48 hours. They claimed they had been "trying to reach me" for 12 months, which is untrue. I checked my call logs and my email history; there was absolutely nothing. When I called and provided my proof of payment and the exact dates they cashed my checks, they admitted the "error" was simply because someone forgot to check a box in their system. It is incredibly stressful and offensive to have your credit threatened because a company can't be bothered to check their own bank deposits before sending out threats. As a veteran, I live by a standard of integrity and doing your due diligence. Relying on a "checked box" as the Bible instead of doing actual research is lazy and unprofessional. Do better, not just for your customers, but for the reputation of the guys out there doing the actual work.

However, when it came to the restoration, Manny, the restoration project manager, fell short. Very little to no communication from him. I had to use either Javier or the office manager Brandi to communicate with him. His estimate included many extra items and was impossible to reach to sort it out. I was also assured the restoration would be done in a timely manner but took a week just to come and do an inspection/estimate, another week to receive the estimate, then never followed up to go over the estimate. All the while, I had to inquire almost daily to keep things moving. I eventually decided to cut ties and go with a different company. I would recommend this company for remediation but look elsewhere for restoration.

I had a leak from my ceiling from the upstairs neighbors' dishwasher flooding. Ed came to check out the leak and put a fan to dry out the ceiling. When we found out the building had insulation instead of bedrock, Sara and team came to do the mold and wetness inspection. They were very considerate of my kitchen/dining area space, installing a tent to contain the dust, and moving my furniture and household items gently out of the way. After they cut holes for inspecting mold, and then patched the areas with dry wall, I did not like how textured they patched the ceiling. It was very obvious which areas of my ceiling got work done. However, Ed reassured me that the texture would be scraped down when they came back to do the paint. Indeed the texture was scraped down to match my existing ceiling and after a few layers of paint, I couldn't even tell that work had been done to my ceiling! Sara and another worker were very good about showing me the work/progress along each step, confirming that I was happy with the work, explaining the demolition and what they found, and also tidying up my kitchen/dining area when they were done with the demo/patching/painting. I loved how quick they worked, how responsive they were, and the end result.

Starting with Justin's prompt inspection, he objectively assessed the damage and walked me through the possibilities and next steps. He was realistic yet reassuring. Arriving late in the evening they worked for hours on the water remediation job that included pulling off molding/floor boards and setting up fans/dehumidifiers. Despite the scope of the remediation growing, Camilo and Sophia showed their experience by staying calm and just working through the issues. Their professional demeanor and calm made you feel they were taking care of everything and things would turn out ok. The team provides an invaluable service in times of crisis. I've never had to use a Water Restoration service before so I browsed trusty Yelp and reached out to Fire & Water Damage. Glad fellow Yelp friend Karen W gave a glowing review! They seem to answer calls 24/7 and I was able to schedule an appointment quickly. Mike was main point of contact and gave us an estimate and scope of work. Basically, they had to tear out the drywall and insulation from the wet area, dry and dehumidify the area for days, and then put on moon suits and remove any mold. We were able to have 2 techs come on a Friday and then let the dehumidifier run over the weekend. We also had to tear out our upper cabinet since the top was damaged by water. On Monday, they came back to remove any leftover mode and patch things up. The total price came in well below the estimate, which is a huge plus. Very happy with the service and efficiency. If you ever suspect you have water damage from leaks, call these guys and get the problem resolved to ensure mold doesn't form or worst, spread. Note that their services are purely restorative - they'll dry out the water-damaged area and get rid of all the mold. You'll need to hire a plumber first to stop the leaks and then afterwards, a drywall contractor to patch up the holes with insulation and new drywall followed by texturing and painting.

The mold dog flagged all the places that were "remediated" by all action. The drywall with mold were all taken out but unfortunately the studs with mold were just encapsulated and painted over, therefore still exposing us to molds. I've learned that the proper way of treating studs is to remove and replace and if that's not possible, sand, hepa vacuum, antimicrobal and wire brush all the mold out of the studs. Unfortunately, we learned our lesson the hard way. Please be sure to properly vet your potential mold remediation company and understand if they do things properly and rid of ALL the mold. If you need your house to be medically clean of mold, steer clear from this company. They don't care about clients, they just want to get their foot through the door, get rid of the easy mold on the drywalls and not put in the hard work to really get the mold out of the studs. They will just cover up all the mold with white sealant and call it a day. Again we had an ERMI done two years later, which stachy and chaet still showed up. Learn about your molds, these are the baddddd molds. We then took things further and hired a mold dog & she flagged all the places we remediated. They're also not IICRC certified. Wish I had done better research earlier. See photos.
