I've been getting my 35mm film developed here at Looking Glass Photo for the past 4-5 years! There aren't many true film labs in my area (Berkeley) and even Looking Glass sends out and outsources their film development and scans to another lab. However, the quality here has been top-notch, and I've never had any issues with my film coming back with light halos, dust, scratches etc. The turnaround time for film can vary between 3 days to a week, depending on volume and if the lab is behind, so be aware if you are in a time crunch. I'd recommend Montclair One-Hour photo if you need your film within a day turnaround. The team members here are usually helpful and knowledgeable with any questions you may have. I even had one employee take the time to break down the differences in 3 types of film I was considering trying, the advantages & disadvantages, cost comparison, and limitations even! Price-wise, they can be on the pricier side for all things photography-related. Oftentimes, I've looked up the cost of certain lenses, film, and photo accessories like lights, stands, and seamless paper for backdrops, and they have always been priced on the higher, market price end. The selection of photography products is definitely very wide and they stay stocked up on inventory - anything from photo paper, to lens filters, film chemicals, to new and used cameras, to even camera rentals, you'll find it here! The store is well organized and parking is plentiful. All in all, I'd recommend stopping by for your photography-related needs.

Due to the film shortage, I was looking everywhere for my favorite films, Kodak Portra 400 & Portra 800. Both of these film were no here to be found at other film stores in the area, so I decided to give Looking Glass a try. First, I called their phone number a few times but no one picked up. I guess they were busy. I decided just to come in person and check out the film selection. I'm really glad I did because I found the last few rolls of Portra 800 that they had. The workers here are also so nice and helpful. I was very happy with the purchase and the service. I recommend this place for all your film photography needs!

They charged me $50 to leave it and have it diagnosed. About a week later, they called to give me the total cost for repair and said that the initial $50 would be applied to the total. I agreed. A month later, I called to get the status of the repair. I was told they probably were waiting for a part. I called again a month later and was told that they would ask the repair person and would get back to me regarding the details about what part was ordered. Never heard from them. I would call once a month and get the same answer...they were waiting for a part. When I asked again what part was ordered, they could not tell me and said they would find out and let me know. Never heard back about what part was ordered. Finally, I decided that I would just get my camcorder back. They said they would get it from the repair person and let me know when it was back at the store. Never heard from them. I finally called and was told that it was in the store. From dropping off the camcorder to getting it back unrepaired took all of 6 months. I do not recommend bringing anything here for repair.

I received a disposable camera from The Weeknd concert and was excited to get the films developed!…read moreI heard it was better to go to a photo lab instead of using CVS or Walgreens to develop photos. Also, I wanted to keep the camera, and I heard that if you get them developed at the drugstores, they ship the cameras to someplace else to get them developed. It was my first time developing film, but the worker was very helpful. She explained to me the different packages and options that they offered. She recommended the develop + print package and to add on the digital scans, as I wanted both. She also helped me decide which photo paper I wanted on the prints; matte or glossy. I paid $33.57 for developing the film, prints, and digital scans. Since this was my first time, I did think it was a bit pricy; not knowing how much people usually pay. I only had 12 prints lol. I received an email stating that my order was ready for pick up; it took 3 days. I received the digital scans in 2 days. The photos came out sooooo goood!!! And it was nice not knowing how they were going to turn out! It was very nostalgic. I recommend Photolab for your prints!

I started coming here six years ago to augment the lab time and instruction I was getting in school. Their darkroom was my happy place for a long time and was fairly priced. What impressed me the most about their gorgeous space was that they encouraged clients to get their work off their screens and onto the walls. Literally, any time I had a question about anything related to photography or printing, Stuart, Ed, Constance, Chrysta, or Nathan would make the time for me and help me out or give me feedback. I enjoyed printing there and always left feeling inspired because they were so kind, knowledgeable, and professional.
