Immediately after signing the contract (and I mean literally, *immediately* after) there was a dramatic switch. We were locked in and they knew it. Caveat emptor. The three years of coverage was periodically marked by technical issues that were a pain to coordinate and resolve. Our outdoor storage shed got burgled a couple of times and interacting with True Protection I just remember having the sense that they did not GAF, to be blunt. The alarm system, and monitoring was a nuisance and source of stress. You will be better served with a DIY solution from Best Buy that does not rely on locking yourself in to these contracts. It is incredibly rare for me to bother giving a negative review. I try to review small businesses I interact with who do great work. When I saw the email soliciting reviews in my inbox, I was kinda shocked. Looking at all the glowing reviews, I found myself agreeing with another reviewer who thought this was deluged with friends and family pumping the numbers. It's just hard for me to imagine a company that consistently delivered such a poor customer experience for multiple years could have these glowing reviews. I I will say it again: prior to signing the contract they are amazing. After you sign it is all downhill. Beware.

Cris worked with me to design a Ubiquiti system that fit our needs and budget and made multiple recommendations to make sure our needs were met without inflating cost. He then outfitted our 12,000sq ft warehouse with Wifi, magnetic door locks, complete camera coverage inside and out, and configured our console, switch, and NVR so it was up and running right out of the gate. During all of this we were actively setting up the warehouse with heavy machinery, racks, and workstations and Cris had no problem working with and around us so there was no interruption in our daily operations. His knowledge was invaluable in evaluating products and general IT configuration. He was always on time and stayed in contact regarding re-scheduling when there were multiple roadblocks on our end - like not having a ramp to get the lift outside. I was previously an incredibly satisfied customer and had referred ADT to friends. I had reached out to ADT to have the same system I liked installed at my new place. A young installer showed up 3 hours late and insisted he could do the install in 3 hours. 8 hours later and close to midnight he puts a new contract in front of us and explains he's installed ADT plus. And it's the latest technology and all that is available from ADT now. He has his supervisor email us the we have 40 days to exchange it. Skipping through 6 months of phone calls with ADT and finding out that we were lied to, the ADT plus folks said they can see in our file that we were told we could exchange for the ADT system we had initially requested but they will not be honoring that or letting us out of our contract. We were told we can purchase a second system in addition to ADT plus, but we will not be seeing any credit. Also as an update, the equipment (costing over $4k) has failed within a year. Bottom line is that the average person has no recourse and ADT can act egregiously without consequence. Also ADT had a massive data breach last month and I have yet to receive a notice from them that our personal data was accessed and is now on the dark web. I've been receiving various alerts from other monitoring sources we have. Finally, in addition to the hundreds of one stars here, check out the ~11,000 better business bureau complaints. So if this is the quality of protection you are seeking - paying top dollar for a complete failure in performance by a company which admits that it has misrepresented its policies and products to you and then has allowed your personal information to be stolen - you have found the right "security" company.

We switched from Guardian Home Protection to Alamo Smart Home because of the pricing and security…read morefeatures offered. Our salesperson, Mario, was late to the initial appointment and did not notify us. We had to call him, and the appointment was rescheduled. During the rescheduled appointment, Mario used a "point system" instead of providing actual prices for each item. When questioned, he said it made the math easier for salespeople. We proceeded but were never given a clear, itemized breakdown of the equipment costs. The installation technician was excellent, professional, and helpful. Our complaint is not related to his service. Our agreement included garage door equipment, an air-conditioning controller, outdoor video equipment, and other security equipment. The garage equipment was not needed because our existing opener was compatible. The AC controller did not work correctly after installation and was removed. Neither item was part of our completed system. On August 12, 2026, I notified Mario that the AC controller was not installed. He said the loan had been finalized before installation and that we could receive a check or free monitoring for the value. I asked for the value but received no response. On August 14, I followed up and was told the difference was $150. Because that amount appeared extremely low compared with the total loan, I requested an itemized invoice but received no response. I have repeatedly called Alamo Smart Home and left messages for the owner and salesperson. No one has returned my calls or provided an invoice. My first loan payment is due September 4, 2026, but the company has not explained or corrected the charges for equipment we did not receive. I am concerned that the loan was finalized before installation and never adjusted afterward.
