Good food and drinks! Family friendly casual dining. Walk up order, find a seat and pick up when your name is called.

Came here for lunch with my girlfriend. Got the sausage Bianca pizza which was outstanding- some of the best wood fired pizza I've had. Flavor and texture were both great. Had a couple drinks and most enjoyed the Cedar old fashioned. Cool industrial atmosphere, laid back enough to play cards with our drinks. Will 100% be back!

What an intriguing little spot in Northfield! I had never been there before, but stopped through while on a circuit of businesses included in the MN Drink Passport (got mine at the State Fair). Despite having a *distinctive* smell (which I am told is a by-product of the production process) we had a great time sitting at a tiny corner table, hemmed in on all sides by barrels, sipping on spirits and doing the NYT crossword. We really appreciated the house-made own bitters, tonics and mixers in the cocktails. A cozy place well worth a trip on it's own, or if you are in the area.

Don't get discouraged if you drive down and do t see the place. It us hidden in the back corner of the industrial park. Once you get inside, Loon Liquors does not disappoint. We had barely bellied up to the bar and our server poured us a small sample of the seasonal liqueur, which happened to be cinnamon (and delicious). The bartenders were all very friendly and made great recommendations. I mentioned I like dill after looking at the dill martini, but ended up not ordering it. While waiting for our drinks to be made, I got another small sample of the dill aquavit. Wow, that was good too. Had a wonderful beverage and took some goodies home too. Would strongly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

How have a not written a review for this place yet? I have been there a couple of times now and I really appreciate and enjoy the laid-back vibe of this place. Smells of liquor mash waft through the dimly lit space. There is a sign that says this place is structured like a speakeasy and it totally works. Now on to the drinks. There is a great menu with quite a bit of variety to pick from, a little bit of classic and a little bit of experimental. Each drink is made with either bourbon, gin, or vodka that is made in-house. The Old Fashioned is very good, but I would also suggest any of the other bourbon drinks. If you want to take something home with you, you can buy their products right at the distillery. Their coffee liquor is absolutely amazing - smooth and sweet with just a hint of vanilla and cocoa. This has become my go-to coffee liquor in my home bar. Whenever I am in Northfield and have an afternoon to spare, this is the place I will probably go to relax and unwind.

I love to support local businesses and we are so fortunate to have this local business open. They have an easy way to make reservations online and check in when you arrive. The entire process feels very safe and clean as your temperature is checked upon arrival and then you are seated. Table service is offered in the lounge and outside patio and all the tables are socially distanced with homemade sanitizer on the table. However, the best part is the tasting all the delicious cocktails. Depending on your preference of gin, rum, whiskey or vodka based drinks, they have one for you. I particularly enjoyed the cherry vanilla rum and coke. I can't think of a better atmosphere to enjoy delicious spirits and be part of the local scene.

Ashlynn was amazing! Gave us so much knowledge about the barrels of whiskey. She made us her specialty, the Medusa. Yumm. She is a goddess. Kate had such good energy and told us all the best drinks to try. Both made the experience once in a lifetime.

Great place! Cool vibe with original drinks and some twists on the classics. Free samples of their organic vodka, gin, and whisky.

Hard to find, but worth the hunt. Good selection of spirts and very attentive staff. First of many visits. Tried the Rye Whiskey Barrel Flight. Liked 3 of the 4 whiskeys. Taking a bit home.

Drink menu! They even make their own sodas and juices/purees, etc.

The ONLY place to go for artisan cocktails, modern/hipster atmosphere, and incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Best for two or a small group of friends. The owner (&guy behind the bar) hand crafted several drinks for our group based on our likes and dislikes (in addition to the several we ordered from the outstanding menu). He took lots of time to answer questions and show us the distilling process and equipment. Great prices, too!

Now for the drinks, my first drink was the rosemary Fitzgerald (gin), very refreshing and light.

That's super nice and gave us somewhere to sit down. It's bigger than it looks from the outside. There was plenty of room I noticed when walking in and out. The wild rice soup is pretty good and a little different. Saw a lot of people ordering that. I chose the Porterhouse steak with Mac and Cheese and Broccolini. Steak was good and seasoned pretty good but was cooked past medium, I think. I love Mac and Cheese, and I thought it was pretty good. Should maybe come in a separate dish, though, because steak juice was mixing into it. It's just a pointer for people who might not like that. The broccolink was okay. I guess I'm not a fan of it. Cake tasted good, but it was a little dried out. The apple tart was absolutely delicious order that for sure. I would go back because the Outlaw Burger sounds so good.

We really were set on the duck wontons for a starter. They were of course out of them! So sad. So we tried the fried mushrooms. They were horrible! The batter was hard and when you cut into it the mushroom just fell out of it. The batter had no seasoning. For entrees, we tried the pork chop and airline chicken. Everything is woodfired so it all tasted like it was grilled. I didn't mind the pork chop. The "jam" on it tasted just like bbq sauce. The airline chicken was seasoned with rosemary and was a little dry. The sides were absolutely horrible. Icecream scooped mashed potatoes....(that's all I have to say about that). The risotto was so plain and wasn't creamy at all. Needed wayyy more Parmesan, garlic or butter. Nothing was seasoned. The coleslaw had no taste. The zucchini squash mix had no seasoning! The glazed carrots just tasted like carrots. Just everything was a little disappointing and unimpressive. Service was flat and simple. Prices were overpriced.

Yum, yum, yum. Gosh, these guys are good…read more We went with a group of five for Sunday brunch/lunch, and everyone liked their food and drinks. My wife and I have been here many times, and there's a reason we keep coming back. That said, not everything is perfect. The food here is consistently great. I could go into more detail, but we've had so many different dishes over the years that it's hard to list them all. For my own notes, I had the Short Rib Melt this time and absolutely loved it. I wanted more! The Burrata Bruschetta was amazing too. It was way too expensive for only four small slices of toast, but it was delicious. We've also really enjoyed their French Toast in the past, along with several other menu items. The cheesy hashbrowns are usually amazing, but there were something off about ours this time. Maybe we just got a bad batch...? Their coffee drinks are also very good. A few people at our table ordered lattes and said they were much better than an average latte. They were also very large. One thing that's both good and bad is that they change and rotate their menu fairly often. On the plus side, you can visit and try something new that you may not have seen there before. On the downside, some of our favorite dishes are no longer on the menu, which can be disappointing. The same thing seems to happen with their specials and deals. They used to have a Smashburger special, one day of the week, but I don't think that's offered anymore. I also remember several other specials they used to run that are no longer available. There have been a few times when that has kept us from visiting. Their hours are also weird at times, so I strongly recommend checking the hours on their website before making plans. They may not be open when you expect them to be. For example, we've wanted to go there for dinner several times on a Monday or Tuesday, but they aren't open. Kitchen closes early several other days. It was extremely busy when we arrived around 10:50 to 11:00 a.m. on a Sunday. We were honestly surprised by how packed it was, and there was a wait for a table. Just an FYI if you're planning to visit during a busy brunch time. Also, in case the owner is reading this, using AI-generated images on your website and inside the restaurant is a massive turnoff. I don't want to see AI-generated artwork on a restaurant's website or hanging inside the restaurant itself. That is an easy star deduction for me. The design and style of the restaurant are really nice. It has more of an open concept setup, so it can get a little loud, but for some reason it never seems to get as loud as you might expect. If you go during a slower time, it can be very relaxing. Overall, I really like the look and feel of the restaurant. I feel like I say this in 95% of my Yelp reviews at this point, but I'm going to keep saying it. The prices aren't great, especially compared with the portion sizes. I won't spend too much time on this, but if you're looking for a budget-friendly restaurant, this probably isn't the place. The service was mostly great. They were clearly very busy, but our waiter never refilled my water, and he didn't come back often enough for me to ask. He also didn't know what soups they had for the day, and instead of offering to go check, he just said he "didn't know" and my friend ordered something else for their side. Not a huge deal, but maybe a coachable moment. Since the restaurant was so packed, it also took quite a while to get our food and drinks. That was understandable considering how busy they were, but it's worth knowing if you're in a hurry. Overall, we really love The Better Half. The food is great, the coffee drinks are better than average, the restaurant has a nice and relaxing atmosphere, the staff is friendly, and there's usually something new to try. The higher prices, weird hours, rotating menu, discontinued specials, AI-generated artwork, and occasional slow service keep it from being perfect, but the great food and overall experience will keep us coming back, just not as often as some other places.
