A Clark Bear employee was taking pictures of my kids in their bathing suits!!!*** An employee from Clark Bear began yelling at our young children, 6 and 8, over the use of a squirt gun on the Wolfman Train Ride while exiting the ride. We have been using squirt guns for the past 13 years. It's a family tradition, and we have never had an issue. The Clark Bear employee then began taking pictures on his own personal cell phone of our children, 6 and 8, in their bathing suits. This is absolutely disturbing and disgusting !!! We went and it was a one and done for us. I was impressed by the layout and all the buildings they had. My daughter's attention was lost at the circus and bear show and asked to leave. This is a girl who can sit through a movie and cruise ship acts. She liked the train the best. Too scared for the slide. We did the rifle game but was disappointed because we thought everything was included minus segways. Turned out rifles and mining for gemstones not included. This was the highlight of my trip. I'll be honest I was iffy as it's not "normal" to see a Bear doing things like riding a scooter but after actually SEEING the show and had a lengthy conversation with the guy who does the show, I have no worries. This was fantastic and I noticed right away that they had no sticks or prongs or things to hit the bear with, just ice cream! The bears are adorable and they will not make a bear do what it doesn't want to do so sometimes the show will not be the same. I really appreciate this. The pricing for everything was decent, the train ride was about 20 minutes and I enjoyed it. The food was okay (normal theme park food). It was rather chilly when we went so I didn't get to do the water slide which is my only regret - it looked super fun! I would DEFINITELY recommend and would be back. read more

Have been coming to this place for years. My son enjoyed it when he was 2 years old and still enjoys it now at almost 17 years old. My hope is when he has his own kids someday that this place will still exist. It is not a huge park, and I believe it is priced fairly considering the entertainment value. The bear show is the main attraction. The love and care that is given to these bears prolongs their lifespan vs bears in the wild. Bring a change of clothes if you are planning on going on the water slide or the bumper boats. There are a couple of places to get food, but you can also bring your own lunch. read more

Okay so this place is cute and charming in a "family-owned" kinda way. Main attraction is a train ride through the white mountains, with a great view of the river. But then you get followed by a crazy wolf man that wants you off his property. There's also some bumper boats, a place to dip your own candles, a small playground, some shops, and, of course, the bears and bear show. It's kind of sad seeing the bears in small enclosures and doing tricks instead of in the wild but it is what it is, it's a cute show. You come for the best show. It's great and you can see how well the bears are treated. They are cute and adorable. The show is short. There is also an Asian circus. Other than the bear show and circus there is a short train ride that is great for small kids. There is also a water raft slide good for the kids. The place was well maintained and had antique cars and trains. Overall a good time. Price was prohibitive at $33 for adults and $30 for kids. 4 adults and 2 kids were $192. Wonderful, low key little spot. We went on opening weekend. The park is so clean and well maintained. We enjoyed the train ride that lasts about 20-25 minutes. They had a play area for kids located right next to the river, which was beautiful. They have bumper water boats and a water slide. Height restrictions apply. They have a few cute shops, snack bar, candy shop, and ice cream. Growing up, I came here and have seen the bear show many times. Seating is limited. They talk for about 10 minutes before starting, which was a little annoying as small children can be restless and just wanna see the show. I feel they could save the education part during the show so adults and children could be interested at the same time. Definitely worth a stop in to this iconic location. read more

Wolfman Jack scared the crap out of me as a kid and I bring my daughter back for her to experience the same thing! Clarks Trading Post is an affordable, small park great for kids 10 and under. Don't expect to go and spend 8 hours here, but more like a few tops. Train ride, bear show, ice cream, bumper boats, sift for stones, etc... Just enough to keep you busy for a few hours and the kids happy! It's not so big that walking is an issue. There are opportunities for food and treats along the way. There are also extra activities life an old time photo and candle making. Don't forget to stop into the large gift shop that offers penny candy to art from the bears! Who is Wolfman? You will meet Wolfman one you pass the covered bridge on the train ride. He is awaiting for people to come onto his property- looking for a wife. He is dirty, drives a jalopy and hasn't bathed in years1 But kids loved to be afraid of him or hate him! Either way- savor your experience with Wolfman as he is a hidden gem of NH and a part of lots of New Englanders childhoods. read more

The brother and sister train the bears. It's really cool to watch the bears do certain tasks. There is a show that happens with other acts including the super flexible woman. There is a free train that the kids loved. We rode down some and they had a show type of thing where the guy was driving along the train with a script (stay out of my woods type). Facepainting was very reasonable and most came with headbands or hats. The food was reasonable and you can see the pricing was there to welcome people back. They had rockclimbing for the kids along with mining ($7-$12 bucks). We were able to try a Segway which was cool. I'm glad since it's not for me. ha! We had so much fun here! The bears are adorable and look like they're having a blast running around playing and eating ice cream. The train ride was hysterical as well. We enjoyed the little mini museums throughout the park, which had a LOT of antique items that older folks will enjoy. The food prices were very reasonable, especially compared to similar amusement parks we've been to! This is a great place for the whole family to enjoy, especially kids. This place is the best! We spent 5 days in the White Mountains, and yelling "Scram, you old goat!" at the Wolf Man was unquestionably my 3 year old's favorite part of the trip. The bear show was amazing- the two young bears were absolutely precious, and while I typically have lots of guilt about enjoying wild animals in captivity, you can tell that the Clark family loves their bears like part of the family! If you're cheap like us bring lunch in a cooler and drinks b/c you're allowed to exit the park and come back in as needed. Reccomend coming on a week day cause it wasn't too crowded. Just an almost 100 year old treasure that seems to preserve everything including tradition over time. I took our daughter and my father and couldn't be happier with how it went. We planned the day to hit all the shows, check the schedule before you go so you have an idea of when shows are. Certain times of the year they only run two bear shows so make sure you plan your day around going to one of those. You want to get to whatever you are going at least 20 minutes early or you will be scrambling for a terrible seat of breaking up your party. I get car sick and wish I had not gone I'm the Merlin's house ride. A couple of the things in the park are extra, the Segway tour, the shooting gallery, the antique photo shoot, food everything else is included with admission. Save $3 per person by buying online prior. At $27 per senior and $30 per child/adult it will take you all day to enjoy everything included that they have to offer. Last bear show was at 3, bear shows and circus performances alternate for the day and run about 35 minutes each. The train ride is every hour and is about a half hour ride. The bumber boats are about 10-15 minutes. Bring a change of cloths for the water slide and bumber boats. Merlin's house is about 15 minute wait for a 10 minute ride. Pizza was gross, I would eat at the cheeseburger stand next time. The antique displays are by far my favorite part as a picker read more

Remember going in here as a young teenager the age of 15 with my mother and my sister. Everything seemed the same from the smells of the cedar and pine in the cute little pillows to the penny candy that they had to all the wonderful gifts and handmade items and local artist and crafters of New Hampshire. I ended up with some really cool gifts along with some food snacks to bring home. My server was April she was new but she was exceptional she took her time make sure she priced everything correctly rang it in exactly the way it was supposed to be just overly friendly and really wanted to help you. I hope she stays with the trading post a very long time because I think that people will enjoy seeing her when they go in there. I can't believe I've never been to this place as a kid. We didn't know what to expect it based on what I had seen on their website it was a very touristy family owned spot that had been around for a long time. We were able to find parking when we arrived and also got there just in time for the trained bears show. Now I tend to be in the fence with any animal acts as I always assume the worst for the animals "behind the scenes" and even though they are on display in their respective areas, it seemed like the family (brother and sister had been putting in the show passed down from their father) cared for these bears and provided a lot of history as well as silly jokes. The seating was interesting, it was like a circus ring surrounded by a cage and there were bleacher style seats on the bottom as well as on the top. The place filled up pretty quickly - lots of kids! It was interesting and short enough for my 2.5 year old to stay put and watch. The two bears we saw seemed to love getting their treats (ice cream) from the trainers although I wonder if every show everyday was ice cream as an award - it was about 4 shows each day - that's a lot of ice cream for a bear (I think). The next thing we hit up was some face painting and tattoos. This place seemed to be employed by a lot of teenagers/college aged kids but they all seemed pretty friendly. The girl who did the tattoo and face painting on my daughter was nice and even made sure to ask if we planned to go on the water ride which we didn't plan to as she would have recommended we get the painting after. It was typical prices like you pay at the zoo or carnival, nothing extraordinary and my daughter loved it! The next stop was the train which was super fun. People started to get in the train (which rain every hour) about 20 minutes before hand. The seating was long benches lining the train. The ride wasn't very long and you get to encounter a silly character "the Wolfman" who looked like an old stinky and mean Davey Crockett and just yelled at us the whole time. My daughter seemed less than thrilled with him but we reminded he is pretending. We also did the mining which was super cool - purchase a bag of sand that has all sorts of gems and stones inside and you sift underwater to see what you got. My tot is obsessed with rocks and I think I had more fun than she did! The one thing we probably should have skipped on was the Merlin house. It was cool for us but my tot dig her face into my neck the entire time - it was one of those illusion rooms where you sit and it looks like you are spinning around (or had too many drinks). A New England classic. Wolfman, pop guns, the trained bears... can't go wrong. It's kitschy, it's roadside, it's only $24 for a whole day of old fashioned Americana and bumper boats. It's not Disney, but it's also not Disney process. We take our kids here every year; they're 10,7, and 4, and the novelty still hasn't worn off. I went here as a kid and loved it, and we're keeping the tradition alive. Nice thing about this place is that they keep it up. It's never going to be enormous, but they manage to keep a lot of the old charm going that's been there since I was a kid, while adding on some newer attractions and activities (most all of them totally free) to keep things fresh. Things are clean, well-maintained, staff is great. We usually come when they open, have an ice cream lunch, and then stay for a few of the afternoon shows before we head out. You would think you can't spend 4 hours here with kids, but somehow you'll check your watch and the day will be gone. Always worth a stop. read more

This was a surprise overnight trip planned and I wasn't sure what to expect. We parked and it didn't look like much but once we paid the $24 admission, this was very cool. The history of the trading post is everywhere and is rich, interesting and a lot of thought has been put into developing it. You walk into the train station and have the opportunity to sit your children on a saddled stuffed bear which my 9 year old thought was amazing. There are multiple small gift shops that are reasonably priced, the staff are friendly. Two or three small museums of NH memorabilia, train, fire engines and olden times collections. Tasty ice cream shop with Gifford's ice cream. A three scoop sundae was $5.50 and it was make your own. I didn't check out the Luncheon or snack shack. Take the train ride! I was entertained by the wolfman and conductors silly jokes. The three minute Segway loop was interesting as I have never ridden one. They show you how and you can take a $25 45 minute tour through the woods. The slide will get you wet BUT is daring and very windy fun. The bumper boats will also get you wet as passerby's can spray you from the railing and there are sprayers on the bumper boats. I loved it. Make sure you enter the Merlin Mansion! It seemed hokey at first but was pretty cool. Small park, rock wall that I didn't do because I had flip flops. Arcade style gun range is the only other item that is extra cost at $3 for 15 shots The shows are very informative about bears and the trainer is very entertaining and has a lot of great dad jokes, bear style. The bears seem to be well taken care of and healthy and do a great job! Everything is included in the price except the optional 45 minute Segway tour and gun range. The old time photos are an option but are just way too pricey. $20 per person. We went first thing in the morning and had no lines there fore didn't get rushed by staff. Bumper boat time was endless and we were very happy with the stop There is a discount rate at 2:00 pm. If you have kiddos under 42-44" which may not qualify for some things, this is your best time. read more

A family themed attraction in the White Mountains that offers a steam train ride of about 25 minutes, shops, a bumper boat ride, a Segway ride (which is a separate fee) along with a rock climbing wall and a trained bear show. There is also a show that features Chinese performers balancing glassware on their heads, and someone from Russia who does several hula hoop tricks to a techno remix of Brenda Russell's "Piano In The Dark". The acts seem oddly paired together & look like they would be better suited for 'America's Got Talent'. It's not any complaint as they were both entertaining; just an observation. The train itself is unique because there are so few steam powered trains in use today. It takes riders on a spur that parallels the Pemigewasset River. Shortly after departing, there is a craggy old "Wolfman " character who suddenly appears out of the woods in an old car, shooting off a cap gun, and who tries to convince young passengers to work in his mine. It's a cute vignette that shouldn't scare anyone. It's actually funny to see the character interact with the train. The website has more info on this character. Clark's has one of the biggest selection of merchandise in its gift shop. The park has a beautiful covered picnic area that overlooks the River. Food prices were reasonable. Definitely check out the antique car museums, too. The blaster boat ride was one of the park's best rides; you will get soaked but it's great fun. It's all a definite must see in Lincoln. read more

The bear show was a hoot, the train ride was really fun, but there were also other activities that kept us there longer like the bumper boats, the mystical magician ride (don't skip this!!), the shooting gallery, the rock wall, Segways, and the water slide. We ended the day with the water slide which was a good thing because you will get soaked!! They ride 3-4 times before we grabbed some gifts and snacks and then left. Go here - you won't regret it! Bears and performances all day long. A Great venue for all ages, but one day may last a lifetime. Live black bear performances multiple times daily, at least during the warmer months. They rotate the stars of the show as to not over work them. They appeared to be extremely healthy and well taken care of. The handlers were obviously quite loving regarding there interacting with them. We were delighted to watch them only 15 feet from us. The bears weren't the only entertainers. Asian acrobats twirled fire and sharp objects to our excitement. A contortionist stepped in and out of tiny hoops that I couldn't imagine possible. Now for me the juggler "Jason Costachio" was the headliner of the show and for me the main reason to come to the show as long as he's still there, I hope and pray. Lol, he was an awful juggler. Perhaps the worst professional act I've ever seen, but that's what made him magnificent. He was like a Timex, tick after tick and drop after drop he kept trucking along in his old school ruffled magician outfit. It was pure comedy. I'd go back just to see and cheer him along again and again. I love you Jason and would follow your act to the depths of obscurity. One fairly high water slide along with bumper tube boats to beat the summer heat. Segway both free and pay riding options. Train ride to see the Wolfman was a bit of a joke to he honest, but it was part of the admission. Shooting arcade was cool. The Merlins spinning house is what dizzy spells were made of, lol. I loved watching and listening to the inevitable shrill to get off midway through the ride as per the help; many times per day they scream, but were fairly warned several times before the ride what to expect and that once it starts your in until the end, lol, loved it. I loved the time line story of the family that has ran this attraction since the turn of the century as a dog sledding venue for the public. It has since evolved to what it has become today. There's a few museum like houses filled with old appliances, pics, clothing and vehicles from the past 100 years or so, I couldn't get enough. Chow on premise, but they allow you to come and go for the day or if you enter late in the day they allow you the come back the following day. We took advantage of this by swinging by late to scout the land and returned the next day to take part of all they had to offer. I was disappointed although bear show is great however the old wolf man from back in the late 90's 2000's was so much better. This one hardly moved and the original had a go cart style car would chase the train etc. the guy was the best character but this one hardly moved Didnt lt do a whole lot let alone move or shake a fist at the train and That is really the reason we go. Stumbled upon this place and so glad we did! Bear shows, Chinese acrobats and segways, what!? Interesting mixture of activities from train rides with a wolfman, Main Street with lots of antiques on display, rock climbing wall, bumper water boats and a water slide. It's a weird mishmash of stuff to burn a couple hours. Family friendly and super clean. Wasn't sure how I felt about the Bears, but they seemed well cared for and their cages were clean and according to the show lived long happy lives there. Segway rides (no extra fee) were fun as that was my first time. Wish you could ride on longer tracks instead of going in a small circle. The train ride was fun, had no idea what the wolfman was, thought it was like a werewolf, but turns out he's a hillbilly protecting his gold (I think it was gold?) it was fun for the kids and made the 2.5 mile trip interesting. I don't normally review anything on here besides restaurants, but after coming here for over 30 years and reading some of the horribly uninformed comments on here regarding the treatment of the bears, I just had to. As I stated, my family has been coming to the Lincoln area since before I was born. We always stay at the Riverbank Motel which is just steps from Clarks. Hearing the train's whistle and the music of the calliope, and smelling the wood from the train, are cherished memories of mine, and whenever I visit, I'm transported back to simpler days. Clarks has evolved over the years since I've been coming here. You used to be able to feed the bears in their pens from the parking lot. New attractions have been added, most notably the Anaconda Escape, Climbing Wall, and the Segways. But the main attractions have always been the trained black bears. I understand the concern of some reviewers who associate the Clarks bear act with the mistreatment of animals that has been seen in circuses in the past. I have absolutely no reason to believe that these animals are treated as anything less than a member of the Clark family. One reviewer has accused Clarks of "ripping cubs from their mothers" and "torturing" them. Clark's takes in bears who are orphaned or injured. They do not actively capture bears just for the show. The life they give the bears is certainly not the life that they would have in the wild, but they live far longer and are much more healthy than the bears in the wild. I don't see how someone could actually watch the bear show and still believe that the animals are being mistreated. I wonder if these negative reviews were by people who actually have seen it, or if they are just pushing an agenda. At $22, admission is a tad bit high for an amusement park that doesn't really have many "rides". However, we purchased the family fun pack at the nearby Hobo Railroad which got us a train ride at Hobo, mini golf at Hobo Hills, and admission to Clarks. This was a much better deal, and if you are spending a few days in the area, I'd recommend you get this (note, you can only purchase this at the Hobo Railroad, so make that your first stop). The train ride is another highlight, although its not a traditional scenic ride as the train is pursued by the "Wolfman". I read some reviews that said children were coming off the train "terrified and traumatized". Here is a picture of my 9 month old daughter enjoying her train ride...look how terrified she is! The museums are interesting, although I could probably catalog the whole collection by now after seeing it for 30 years. There are a lot of very unique items that show the evolution of technologies like radio and railroads. Some describe Clarks as a tourist trap...well of course it is! It has literally evolved from a roadside stand designed to bring in people who were driving up Route 3. So do yourself a favor and visit. See the bear show, hear the corny bear jokes that Murray tells (the same that his father told) as his bears dunk a basketball, raise the American flag, and even ride a scooter. This was the most reasonably priced activity in Lincoln. Our group was provided with a discount with a seven dollar savings per person! Ann was responsive with all emails, greeted us at the gate and made sure we all had maps of the park, & showed us where the two picnic areas are at the park. One picnic area is across the street where parking g lit is and the other inside park next to restrooms it is covered with shade. The bathrooms are clean here! If you visit Clark's please know the day should be planned around the Bear Shows, Train Ride, and Circus. These shows are well worth it, get to them early so you can get a seat and not have to stand in the back. The staff is friendly smile and look like they are happy to be working here. The Segway ride that is included in the pass is a nice addition to the visit. The train ride is so lively and not what I expected, be sure to listen to the MC as they are telling you a story throughout the ride. The train is a in and our ride does not circle the park. Please know this park is small conspired to Story Land and not geared around rides but rather those shows. There is a water slide if you are not, it is enclosed tube. I cannot believe in 22 years of living in Nh that this was our first visit. The bears are so darn cute and look to be well cared for! Sadly we missed the circus but we heard it was great. FOR THOSE DOG owners we used the One Day Dog daycare place that was on the Clark's website, she is just about 2 miles from the park and is $5 a hour, we used her services and will again. read more

Grand son loved the place. Wolfman was top shelf and the train ride and bear shows he and all his brothers and cousins as well

This place is an abomination. I walked up to a fence with signs saying not to climb, with signs around it claiming there was a "bear show," and my stomach dropped. Imagine my disgust when I peer over the fence and see two fully grown bears walking sluggishly and dazed around in circles in a tiny dirt pen. There wasn't a single item for enrichment in that cage, either. Bears do NOT belong in cages and they certainly do not belong in your shows for some morbid entertainment. In the background of this Trading Post are beautiful, vast mountains -- THAT is where the bears belong. I was stunned to see that people were okay with the bears being tortured like this -- do people feel so entitled to see animals up close that they think this is acceptable? We don't see bears in our day-to-day lives for a reason, and we should keep it that way. I will never, ever give Clark's Trading Post a penny of mine. I left immediately after witnessing that tragedy. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

What a fun place! Our kids are 5 and 6.5 and we had a blast. Got here at opening at 930 and did everything and left about 1pm. Super fun!
