So we were driving towards Deception Pass and saw this HUGE warehouse with the word CREAMERY on it. My wife immediately started googling. Bookmarked for our return trip. We actually made it on our way back and so glad we did. They have a lot of unique flavors. We just got a couple double scoops so we could try more flavors! Once Baked Cookie Dough (5): My wife loves the traditional cookie dough so this piqued our interest. If you've ever had a pizookie, its sort of like that. Sort of underbaked and soft. It was delicious! Coffee Toffee Crunch (5): Can't go wrong with a coffee/toffee combo. Their slow churned process makes this really creamy and delicious! Wild Blackberry (4): Curiosity got to us on this one since wild blackberries seem to be everywhere up here. I've had some really good ones and some really questionable ones. This was good. What I'd expect. What this proved to me was their sweet cream base is amazing and can be paired with anything really. Lemon Raspberry (5): Wasn't expecting much but this one blew me away. This was my favorite of the group! Sweet and tart and fruity all at the same time with no flavor overpowering another. Very good. Cold Brew Float (4): This is really just a cup of the ice cream of your choice. Then you grab a can of their cold brew and pour it on top. I went with their mint chip. It was good. The cold brew was good. This is something I feel like I'd do at home too. (and I think I will cause we're taking some pints home!) Overall, a great stop on your way to wherever. But for those of us who want a more modest scoop and don't like to waste food, Lopez Island Creamery presents a challenge. Because even their "Kids" scoop at an affordable $4 is HUGE. Take a look at the pic of my Raspberry Lemonade Sorbet and my hubs' Peaches & Cream on cake cones. They are the size of BIG adult-size scoops. They were both delicious but I couldn't finish mine and felt bad about that. My two relatives each got the "Single" scoop at an affordable $6 each and they each received two HUGE adult-sized scoops. Both my family members couldn't finish their ice creams and had to throw them out. So, you see my dilemma. I hate wasting food and I don't like seeing others waste food too. Perhaps if Lopez Island Creamery offered a "Micro" scoop that was a true, small scoop, I'd give them five stars and would give them another try. Been to Lopez Island Creamery a few times with family. The scoop shop is in the corner of their production facility just off Highway 20 just before Anacortes. You wouldn't expect to find a scoop shop in with all the commercial buildings but it's worth the stop. They always have a wide selection of flavors and even if the line is long it moves fast. I particularly like their fruit flavors which highlight local farms. If you can't have dairy they always have a few sorbets. The size if their scoops in on the large size. A kids scoop looks like a single at other places and their single is two good sized scoops. I've seen some folks get the double and it looks like enough ice cream to feed at least 2 people. read more

Clearly we did not read the reviews before this... The single scoops are massive here. We've only had Lopez Island pints and cookie sandwiches on San Juan Island and local grocery stores and have been wanting to come to this location for awhile. I pretty much never get just plain chocolate ice cream scoops but their Delectable Chocolate is worth it. The Salted Caramel Swirl is less roasted flavor than Molly Moon's and the caramel chunks are a welcome addition and the perfect texture. Service was super friendly. After a day of hiking in Ebey's Landing National Historic Reserve, we needed something to cool down. Lopez Island Creamery was right on the way and we stopped by to get: Double Scoop, Earl Grey (Limited), Blackberry, Skagit Strawberry (Limited), and Bow Blueberry ($8) - Amazing ice cream here - super high quality with low overrun and great body and texture. Even though it was a hot day, the ice cream barely melted as we ate it. The person behind the counter had to put in some muscle to scoop the ice cream as well. The double comes with four big scoops of ice cream. The Earl Grey had a great black tea and bergamot fragrance that really permeated the ice cream throughout. Since the flavor is more delicate as compared with the fruit flavors, some of the milky taste from the cream also lingers on the tongue. There was a small amount of crunchy bits inside - perhaps small pieces of tea biscuit? All of the berry flavors were quite good, with the Blueberry coming in first place, with a fantastic blueberry fragrance, the Strawberry second, and the Blackberry last. The Blueberry has chunks of frozen blueberry inside and noticeable pieces of skins. For the blackberry, the crunch of the seeds adds a nice texture. We thought it was a bit too sweet though - we prefer some of the natural blackberry sourness to come through. To be honest, other than the obviousness of the seeds, if you had made me guess what flavor this was, I wouldn't have said blackberry. That's honestly a minor nitpick - all the flavors were very high quality and delicious. We'll definitely be back to Lopez Island Creamery whenever we are back in the area! read more

Soooo delicious!! So, we've been coming to the area for years and this was our first time here! Why? Because this creamery is in an industrial type building that sits basically behind the car dealership and not on a road that you'd travel on just because. Luckily, we were on our way back to our location when my husband asked me to find an ice cream shop and this popped up! There's seating inside and out. Lots of flavor options. The ice cream is creamy, not icy. The staff was SUPER nice and the scoops are GINORMOUS!!!!!!!!! I wanted the Lavender Chocolate Chip (lavender is my all-time favorite flavor and not always found) and my hubby wanted the Lemon Raspberry Swirl. We decided on a double, scoop of each flavor, and we'd share. OMG .... DID I MENTION THE SCOOPS ARE HUGE! There was enough ice cream for a family of 4!
