Good service and tasty food. Just don't love when food isn't marked with prices and you're left guessing costs. All muffins were unmarked for price and we didn't see prices anywhere for the muffins. Also for five muffins and two almond puffs I was expecting to spend less than $42.23- that's an average of $6 (with tax) for each item which is pretty hefty. We enjoyed the almond puffs the most then the blackberry cobbler muffin- the rhubarb and white chocolate strawberry don't have much flavor but tasted sweet. The snickers and chocolate almond poppyseed were just too sweet for my tastes- the almond extract in the poppyseed muffin was overpowering. They do have a bathroom for customers, an area to sit and eat plus a bunch of wine and other items for sale. We got a punch card- 12 muffins purchased gives you a free muffin. Not sure if we will be back that way but figured we were almost halfway to getting that free muffin so why not! read more

Saturday 14th December came up for lunch and was disappointed not serving on Saturday but had premade sandwiches in a cold case (no thanks). Baked good were plenty I chose the chocolate almond croissant. Admittedly looked good but over all not flaky as I'd hope and very little almond filling. Not sure I'll go out of my way to revisit. They did recommend a nice alternative place for lunch and I like that business work together and promote local. read more

Stopped by before the ferry. Very cute shop with muffins and wine (among some other convenience store staples)! But the flavors of muffins were really interesting. I opted for a lemon cream. The workers there were very nice and pretty efficient, and were kind about offering napkins and utensils. The muffins are super moist with great flavor! Run don't walk. The customer service at The Store is some of the best customer service I have ever had anywhere! I explained my allergy to them and they answered my questions then also went and consulted the baker to make sure everything was as they said. The bakery counter is the stuff dream are made of! There are so many flavors of everything! I got a white chocolate cranberry muffin because it felt like just the right amount of Christmas in a muffin. We also got a loaf of basil garlic bread that I can't wait to spread some soft butter on and eat the whole loaf! The last thing we got was frosted molasses, molasses, peanut butter and snickerdoodle cookies. Everything was a fantastic price. I will be back and bringing everyone I know! read more

Please have your deli open on the weekend! You literally have deli on the front of your building most would assume you had a full operating deli. At the very least make it clear you don't have fresh, only premade deli items on Saturdays & Sundays! We had a family of 6 adults that had the potential to spend a significant amount money on deli and bakery items. Our group decided to not purchase anything after finally noticing a small sign on a cooler door stating no fresh deli. I've never been so excited for muffins the way I was in this store. I asked them what the most popular one was but they said theres 250(!!) on rotation so its really totally just up to my taste. I got the peach cobbler one and a chocolate caramel cheesecake one. The caramel chunks in the second were soo goopy in a delightful way and the peach cobbler one had entire peach chunks. Obviously they were both great. But not as ridiculously amazing as the rosemary sea salt loaf. It'd just come out of the oven so we had to get it. Oh my gosh. Soft as a pillow on the inside and the outside that perfect crusted bread texture. And the rosemary, sea salt, and olive oil literally waft through your mouth. Insanity level good. We also got 3 cookies for $1.75 total. Combined. Between three cookies. Amazing deal. And the icing on the cake was that they said someone in front of us had paid it forward for the next few customers so one muffin was free. I hope whoever did that knows what a smile they put on my face. Unfortunately the deli is closed saturdays but prepared some cold sandwiches in the fridge so we got a chicken salad sandwich on rye that was also very scruptious. read more

Obviously the muffins are spectacular. We also love the cookies. I sometimes pick up three dozen cookies for the church coffee hour, pass them off as homemade, and everyone is so impressed. We also really appreciate the ready-made sandwiches when we're on our way out of town and need a quick meal. Coffee is so-so, but the pastries make up for it. It has the ambiance of an upscale convenience store combined with a bakery, which is exactly what it is. Worth a visit! read more

Grandma and Dad have been all hyped over The Store recently, and it has been a good thing. We did not really know about The Store or what it was, then my grandma, a neighbor, and dad starting bringing some of the baked goods around. Recently, we have been sampling the different muffin flavors and everything I have tried is delicious. My preference, I am finding, is for the berry-flavored offerings. Fortunately, we live over an hour away, so we do not risk over indulgence too frequently. Dad has been stopping when going to visit his mom, my grandma, for a day or two and it is always tasty. We were on our way to the ferry to get to the Orcas Island. We stopped here first for a bite to eat. Walk inside and go around to the back and place your order. We ordered sandwiches, drinks and sat down. Let me tell you for a deli sandwich it was the bomb. Everyone enjoyed what they ate. It was our official first meal of the trip. I also was able to obtain a 4 pack of beer from the San Juan Islands Brewery for $12.99 which is cheap around my parts for a 4 pack micro beer. They have pre-made sandwiches - pretty much what you expect from pre-made sandwiches (they'll due in a pinch, but not something i'd seek out). Best breakfast sandwiches and pastries in Anacortes. I wish I had discovered this place earlier in my visit. Hands down the best quality pastries and breakfast sandos in town. The English scramble on a fresh croissant was fantastic, well portioned, and best price for a breakfast in town as well. The almond-chocolate croissant was delicious and generous. Also reasonably priced. Their espresso is a dark roast, rich and syrupy with a dominating flavor in lattes. If dark is your jam then these are great. If you want a little more of an added flavor, ask for an extra shot of flavor to offset the powerful espresso shots. The staff is delightful and provides great service. read more

Being that I was in between meetings I didn't have a chance to shop the entire store but I will the next time I'm in the area. Each muffin is bursting with flavor (not loaded with sugar,) and filled with fresh ingredients that you can see; blueberries, rhubarb, lemon zest, apples,& cinnamon. Okay...think about the best muffin you've ever had. Now, multiply it by two and add a quaint Anacortes storefront. Yep, you've pretty much got the perfect muffin. The Store - located literally a block off the main drag into downtown - is worth a quick side trip. Their muffin selection is off the charts, featuring flavor combinations rarely seen in the muffin-challenged PNW. Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake? Yes please. Several varieties of chocolate and/or fruit? Um, yeah. Not to mention, these babies are HUGE. I've never actually finished one in a single sitting. Usually I eat the tempting muffin top first, then save the rest for later. The Store also has an incredible selection of wine (perfect spot to stop for a couple of bottles before you hit the islands), and other convenience store items plus a cute cafe in the back. They have coffee and espresso, and plenty of indoor seating if you want to enjoy your muffin on-the-spot (and avoid getting crumbs all over your car, don't ask me how I know). I saw the reviews and wanted to come. When we arrived, there were so many muffins and delicious treats to choose from. Because of covid times, I quickly selected a couple of treats and made a dash for the door. The cookies and muffins were buttery and delicious. I loved that they had so many options to choose from. The one negative was that I wish they had a list on the ingredients that they put in for some items. I get that they have like a bunch of options but maybe have some kind of spreadsheet handy for those people who have special dietary needs. There was this one dessert that I wanted to offer to my kid who has allergies. However, the clerk didn't know what was in it and the baker had left. Parking: A couple spaces outside the store front. We stopped here on our way to the ferry before our trip to Friday Harbor, and ended up coming again after we got back to Anacortes. Why? Muffins!! I believe they are $4.95 each. I'll list the flavors we tried in order of my favorite to least: - White Chocolate Marion Blackberry: This one was my favorite by far! So moist, and the berries were good to cut the sweetness. I think I could've done without the white chocolate chips in the muffin itself, but it was fine. - Blueberry Cheesecake: Yes, I did think the berry muffins were better than the others. - Peach Cobbler: I didn't really detect peach, but it was a nice neutral flavored muffin. - Chocolate Covered Banana: You could definitely taste the banana. I didn't like having the chocolate chips throughout this one. - White Chocolate Mocha: I did not like the coffee flavor in this. I had a bite and didn't want anymore. We also tried some cookies. They were OK, but on our second visit we stuck to muffins only. Favorite to least: - Frosted Molasses $0.65 - Peanut Butter $0.55 - Snickerdoodle $0.55 - White Chocolate Macadamia $0.65 ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars - Meh. Unlikely for me to return. 3 Stars - OK. Open to coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way to. 4 Stars - Yummy! Great find! I grew up on Whidbey and had just visited for the first time when back home to visit family. The store has amazing feel and line-worthy baked goods. I recommend coming in before noon, the muffins are popular and they have delicious cookies! Our favorites have lemon or cranberry in them. We also tried their iced molasses cookies, highly recommend! They have other typical cookie flavors: chocolate chip, chocolate chip walnut, and a few others I can't remember that are 3 for $1.00 (I believe, I could have misremembered the price). The Store also has an espresso bar, I also recommend trying this out! They roast their own beans and I loved the americano the barista dished. I have yet to try their deli options and their wine. Great stop if you're leaving the island and looking for quick gifts or visiting somebody on Whidbey or in Anacortes. read more
