We decided to go to Lorain Brewing since the weather was so nice and they have a patio. The view did not disappoint. I do prefer seats with backs, so sitting at the picnic table was not great. It was also windier on the water than I anticipated. The staff were friendly and helpful. The walleye sandwich large and very filling. We also ordered sweet potato tots. First time stopping at this location. The staff was really nice and I do like the location. I'd describe their menu as elevated bar food. We started with the pretzel appetizer and really enjoyed it. I especially liked the presentation. I chose the Walleye Dinner. The fries were great and well seasoned, but the fish was very overcooked. The filet was on the thin side so I suspect that is why. My husband got the Forager flatbread which featured wild mushrooms and truffle oil. He felt there was too much arugula on it, but over all it was pretty tasty. Service was great. Even before getting in a lady on break ran over to help us with the doors to get in. She ended up being our server and was nice and friendly. We had flights of beer which were good. The best was the onion rings, they are fantastic. The view is also lovely from their patio. The bad thing was they only had 2 tables that the wheelchair can sit at and they both had broken umbrellas and they didn'twant to move one from other tables that seats didn'tmove for wheelchais.. Avon Brewing Company (Avon, Ohio) owners moved their business to this location. The building is in the Shipyards section of Lorain. You need to know it's there since it is tucked back from Colorado Ave. Nicely done industrial decor. Went there for beer and appetizers to see the new location. The bartender gave me a sample of their New England style IPA, Shaka Brah, and then I ordered a pint. Delicious and fresh but only had one pint as the ABV is 8%. Great first impression for me and hope to return here sometime soon! read more

We sat outside - it was nice, the hostess does need to be trained to not "run" to the tables. While she knew where she was heading we did not, we observed this with every table she brought patrons to outside. My friend ordered wings- she was told the side of ranch and celery were going to be $1.50 each. Which we understand the extra charge, but the price was ridiculous for what she got. It was a small container of ranch. Barely enough for half of her order. Ranch isn't that expensive. For a $1.50 you should be giving a side of ranch in the containers you put your homemade flavorless chip dip in. I ordered the turkey wrap, all I wanted was a slice of cheese on it. Even if it was an up charge. Our server said "we can remove items but we can't add. I can put the cheese on the side". What?!? So I can unroll my wrap and put the cheese on myself? No thanks. Our server was very nice, came back to the table to check on us a few times. After reading other reviews - the owners and managers need to sit down and scale back their "rules" as they are clearly not helping with your reviews. read more

The Food and service was excellent! Very friendly staff and managers! Their beer selection is off the hook! The "Shipyard" has a Cool and unique atmosphere! This review is not exagerated: Loved Avon Brewing Company so we decided to try the new place and made the drive in the snow. Walked in and the young ladies said it was going to be about a 30 minute wait even though many of the tables were open (short staffed I am guessing). We said we were going to sit at the bar and they could let us know when the table was ready. Hostess said if we were getting a table we couldn't sit at the bar since that would take up space for someone who just wanted to eat there. WHAT? Our primary reason we liked ABC was the King Coconut beer: They were out and no other stouts. We had to get other beers and bring them to the lobby area. We walked to the back bar and there was no room so we grabbed drinks and sat off to the side of the lobby. After 40 minutes I saw there was an open area at the bar so I asked if I could get a pretzel. Barmaid asked where I was sitting and I said "I am standing right here." She had a disturbed look on her face and said she had to check. She comes back and says I can't order food because I don't have a seat. Now I find two chairs at the end of the bar and said, "Okay, I am here now." No. Someone put those there so they didn't count. Now we are 50 minutes in. At about an hour I asked if we had a table. The young hostesses asked my name and just said "not too much longer". I just stood there so it was obvious I wasn't walking away. A long haired manager came over and said he would seat us. Into an open booth the 4 of us went. Then a group gets seated behind us and are brought waters and they take their order. 15 minutes at the table and I go see the hostess. "Do you know who are server is?" No apology, but let me know "Must have been a mix up" and goes back to chatting with her friend. "Can you get someone?" Now she asks where we are sitting. "Hold on" she says like I was bothering her. Mind you, I have been very pleasant the whole time. Server comes to the table and could not have been more helpful and very apologetic. There was a mix up and rather explain we just said it was fine and just wanted to order. Food comes out and I really wanted to absolutely hate it due to our experience, but found it middle of the road. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken that was good, but not $17.00 worth. Wife's smashburger order was incorrect, but she ate it and enjoyed it. Fish fry was good and the bean burger was just okay. Bad experience, fair beer and okay food. Maybe it was an off night, but I would not recommend based on this. The two girls at the hostess stand need significant training on their job and attitudes. read more

The manager was really nasty when we asked to speak to her regarding the delay. She offered us a free drink, but only one out of four in our party was drinking. Great new location for what had been called the Avon Brewing Company. Big venue with two bars and loads of seating. The beer list is extensive and offers many types of beer. We sat at the bar next to the marina and had wonderful service. Burger was good but burnt ends sandwich should be served on a long hoagie style bun. It completely fell apart when picked up. read more

Went on a very busy night. There was also a large party in the adjoining party room. I love that the waitress had the foresight to say "no rush, but if you order soon, I can put it in before the kitchen gets slammed by that large group". Being a past industry worker this is how it's done! Nice job. Food was delicious (some newer items and old faves listed from old Avon location). The only thing that stinks is it's so far from us now. Friends recommended we try this place again. First impression is that staff were laying around when you walk in the door on their phones. The fish tacos were way too spicy. We came to give the place a try about a yr ago when they were reopening, food was good however we waited about an hour for a table when we could see many were vacant then about 30 min wait to get waited on and finally 1 1/2 hr later did get our food- sad because most of our order was fancy grilled cheese sandwiches. Now we're back today on a Friday, all outside tables we requested were empty but still waited 40 min to be seated. 30 min later received our appetizer. Going on 1hr 15 min and still haven't gotten our food- we only ordered smash burgers. Needless to say we will not return, which is a shame because is a wonderful location.
