Ancho Chicken Taco and barbacoa empanadas
Matt B.

Quite possibly my favorite Taco Tuesday in town. Normally a German restaurant but man, this place has like 20 different protein options for tacos, and a bunch of delicious German beers. Not only that, but anything you order in a taco can be fried up in an empanada too. Prices are quite fair, even for the post-pandemic price hikes that have happened everywhere. Highly recommended

Salina T.

Came here for the hyped $1.25 tacos and cheap empanadas with a friend. Apparently this place used to be a community center as the place is huge and at first you might find it looking a little old/sketchy. Don't be afraid though, I found myself trying to find parking (it's free!) in a lot that was full. Food was good for the price, environment was open, and service was quick/friendly! Definitely will come back again. Tip: find seating yourself.

I am rating this venue based on its event hall, not the food or drinks because I didn't have either. The event space was huge and perfect for the crowd freak showcase and I'm definitely looking forward to coming here again in the future!

My favorite comfort food joint! From tacos to prime rib, grumpy and his staff put on a great daily menu. Keep an eye out for there special events you don't wanna miss things like schnitzel fest, Fat Tuesday buffet or Sausage n Beer Fest! Fish fries are every Friday not just during lent! And not just fish, mussels, chowders, lobster Mac n cheese, clams casino! And more! you never know what he might put on the menu! And I can't forget the bar...8 rotating taps of German and local beers! and cooler full of bottles! Moe and Melanie do a great job every day of the week!

My family and I went here for their Marti Gras party last night and we had a blast! We got the creole buffet and I ate till my hearts content. The red beans and rice was spicy just like I like it and I loved trying crawfish for the first time! My boyfriend and I come here often for taco Tuesday and the awesome drink specials. We plan on coming here for fish fry Friday!

What a neat place! The Open Mic has been switched to Improv on Thursdays.

The ambiance was relaxing and we got the nice cozy booth at end of the bar ordered the Taco's with a side of rice and beans and a few margaritas. The food was delicious and we had a damn good time, but what really impressed us was the incredible service. Our server Dan was literally amazing, highly attentive and made us feel at home. I don't think I have ever had better service in my life. After that experience we said we had to come back again. So, we did. We came back to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday on a Friday. To our surprise the place was packed and busy. Since they don't do reservations we knew for sure we wouldn't get our cozy booth and the service would be no where near as good as it was last time. I was pleasantly surprised. As we enter the packed restaurant, a man came up to us with such a positive and friendly attitude and told us about the wait time and that he would add us to the list. While we waited we ordered margaritas and talked further with the man. This man turned out to be the Owner of Momocho, Eric. This guy is one of the coolest dudes you'll ever meet. He gave us a few of his delicious recipes he created, told us about his restaurant, and remarked on how great his incredible staff is, especially Dan. After the wait, Eric escorted us to the top floor, and to our surprise he put us at the "Chef's table". We had front row seats to watching the Amazing Chef's cook. Chef Manny was fantastic, watching him work, talking with him, and answering our questions about the different dishes made are experience that much more enjoyable. He took our orders: "Little Tacos" we got the Pollo, Machaca, Side of rice, Barbacoa with a fried egg and a flight of Margaritas. Everything was insanely good. The Margaritas are very tasty definitely recommend. At the end of our meal Dan personally delivered my girlfriend one of their delicious "Chocobomba" desserts with a candle in it, and Sang happy birthday with me. Overall this place is a 10 out of 10. I highly recommend it. I want to sincerely thank Eric, Dan, and Manny for the incredible experience, and for making my girl friend's birthday a memorable and special one. Also wanted to toss in here that it was fantastic seeing one of my favorite servers from the now closed restaurant "Xinji" working on the Momocho team. Shout out to Jack.

It was very busy and we were told there is a 30 minute wait. Not much else in the area so we hung out by the bar and got seated sooner than expected. The first floor is more casual with bar seating and high top tables. The second floor is more formal dining tables. You'll need to climb stairs (did not see an elevator). I was a bit skeptical if we'd have enough options as vegetarians, but was pleasantly surprised at how full we got from all the items we ordered! The guacamole trio, flautas, remolacha, salsa and chips, and drinks. We were there to celebrate a birthday and I asked staff (maybe a manager) if they do anything to celebrate. He mentioned they have a fried ice cream and can put a candle in it. I hadn't confirmed what dessert we planned to order, but before I knew it they came around with the fried ice cream and candle. So, we got to try that. Overall, good food.

Now imagine one where all the food is from different countries in Latin America, this is exactly what you will find in Centro Villa 25. I was with a big group and there were orders from different shops, but I ordered from my people the Puerto Ricans. I had rice and beans with steak and onions, and a sweet plantain dish with ground beef called pastelon. The food was decent and I wouldn't mind coming back if I was in town, especially if I was craving some back home food. PS - I am regretting not taking pictures, but I am getting better at that.

I started with the Blackberry Hibiscus Margarita, which was light, refreshing, and a great way to kick off the evening. We shared the Avo Trio with guacamole, queso, and salsa. The salsa wasn't my favorite, but the guacamole was honestly some of the best I've ever had, and the queso was excellent. At $20, it felt a little pricey, but the portion was generous enough for sharing. For my entrée, I ordered the Pollo Ala Crema, thin slices of sautéed chicken breast with cream sauce, Spanish rice, grilled corn, Brussels sprouts, a crispy corn cake, aji verde, and crumbled bacon. It was a unique combination of flavors that worked really well together, and I enjoyed the dish overall. Parking is available on the street, or after 6 p.m. you can park in the lot adjacent to the restaurant and pay through the mobile app, which was convenient. Overall, I had a good meal and enjoyed the atmosphere. While everything was solid, I'm not sure I'd make a special trip back with so many great Mexican restaurants in the area that I still want to try.

After waiting about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment from anyone, I decided to at least check out the restroom while I waited... and that's when everything went downhill. The floors were extremely sticky--every step literally felt like my shoes were pulling off the ground. It didn't feel clean at all. As I got closer to the restroom area, there was a strong smell of what I can only describe as wet, moldy rags. The bathroom itself was dark, oddly designed, and just gave an overall uncomfortable vibe. What made it worse is that the place wasn't even busy--there was only one table and a couple people at the bar. So the lack of service and cleanliness really stood out. By the time I walked back to the bar, I had already made up my mind. No one had still acknowledged me, and based on the condition of the place, I wasn't willing to take a chance on the food. I grabbed my things and left. Later on, I mentioned it at another restaurant and was told this place is known for poor food quality and lack of authenticity--which honestly aligned with what I experienced just from being inside. I can't speak on the food since I didn't stay, but based on cleanliness, smell, and service alone, I would not recommend this spot. It gave the impression that basic upkeep isn't a priority, and that's not something I'm willing to overlook.

For whatever reason, tacos sounded like the perfect comfort meal after braving the airport. I stepped into Barrio on a weekday afternoon and if I didn't know any better, I would have thought they were closed based on the quiet street and customers inside. There were 6-7 other guests in the restaurant but beyond the music, it was very chill in there. I took a seat at the bar and I was promptly greeted by a nice guy behind the counter. He explained the taco ordering process to me, showing me the order form and even sharing his personal favorites. I love the ordering form! It's cool to see all of the options in one spot, the choices were extensive. I decided to go with 1 specialty taco, the La Tierra, 1 chicken taco and 1 steak taco. I also got a side order of guacamole and pico de gallo. I'm so bummed that I don't remember the second sweet guy who assisted me, I believe it started with a D. He was the sweetest! About 15 minutes after I ordered, he came back with his hands full of bags. We both looked at each other and laughed because, why did y'all give me all of these bags?! LOL. Turns out they bagged each item separately (paper bag and a plastic bag). I felt so greedy omg. I had to quickly rebag it all before I walked out, lol. My tacos were delicious! Albeit, a little soggy due to the sauces I requested to have on them. The guacamole and pico were also delicious but a bittttt too salty and limey. I usually like my guac and pico with a little extra kick, but I could have done with one less dash of salt and one less squeeze of lime, lol. Either way - it was a really great meal and experience overall.
