This place is great! The service is always top-notch and I feel like they're very honest about the repairs a car needs. Their prices are good too. You might be able to get repair work done cheaper at one of those chain shops, but you won't get the quality and personal service. If you go here, try to do a drop-off so you don't have to wait. They don't have a waiting room, just a few chairs along the window. But if you do have to stay, WiFi is available (at least it was when I was there). Bring a good book to pass the time. They will keep you updated on the status of your car while you're waiting. Also, if it's not an emergency, call and make an appointment, so your car will get in right away. Yes, I'd definitely recommend Lord's. If you're looking for a quality, honest auto shop, then this is your place. read more

Rick Lord is a car guy, operating a car repair shop, which he does well. The location is a rundown former gas station but the repair service is up to date and able to fix almost any problem. For example, the outside temp indicator stopped working, it had been improperly reinstalled after my wife's accident. Rick and his guys spent the time to track down an improper electrical connection and fix the wiring without replacing the thermometer. Been going there for 4 years. Had suspicions we were not being told the truth on repairs the last few times. Well, the last time I found out Rick's words were not truth and his bill was shy of a thousand $. for squat. I can say this because I took the vehicle to an honest owner of another repair shop within days that has all 5 star reviews and he explained the true problem that Rick Lord wouldn't say when I asked him a direct question, Rick had those deer eyes in the headlights when he wouldn't tell the truth. These are straight-up guys! My brake line needed repairing and they did a great job at a reasonable price - THE FIRST TIME! Also, I already knew the disks and drums were fine because the dealership had told me so a few months earlier, but I wanted to test the integrity of Lord's. They were honest about what needed to be done to the car, and what didn't need to be done. One time I went there in the middle of winter when my heater wasn't working ( I had no control of when it went off and on). They took a look at it, and didn't charge me anything for the effort. Their prices were far more competitive than other major chains in the area. I'll definitely go back there for more services. read more

Nope. Two experiences were both mediocre. Can not trust them any more than any other mechanic. First was a routine oil change; Berlin said he checked all the other fluids as well; fluid low light came on literally the next day... Second was a check up before a road trip. Made an appointment a week earlier with the owner, but when I arrived, Berlin informed me that "we don't make appointments" and that the owner was out of town--tough luck. After waiting for several hours, the bill was higher than he had quoted me (he replaced a perfectly fine air filter for $15 without asking, even though I was sitting in the shop). Then, I had to return later that day because another part they had replaced was broken. Rather than apologize and offer to correct their mistake, Berlin tried to take me for a fool and make ME pay $80 for a new part. When I refused to pay for their mistake, he finally agreed to fix it for no additional cost. Extremely disappointed to be overcharged, tried to be cheated, and made to wait for the majority of a day after "making a reservation" with the owner. read more

Since my initial review of Lord's been back 3 additional times. 2006 Hyundia with 120K would like to drive for a few more years. With the age and mileage on this car these repairs were random sure just about that time in life of car when a few things start to fail. Took it there again last week and needed a brake overhaul. Rick hooked me up with a discount on one of the items because he appreciated my loyalty in 2016. Rick is fair and honest. Berlin does great work as I have never had to go back with any of the items Lord's Auto Clinic repaired. Berlin is also a super nice guy. Lord Auto Clinic is THE BEST!!!! I have always had such a negative experience when it comes to auto mechanics. I feel like they are taking advantage. Lord Autos is the first place, in 20 years of driving, that I totally trust and who do an awesome job!!! My first experience with them was when my cadalidic (sp) converter went out. Rick knew how expensive it would be to replace, so he worked with me to write a letter to Toyota to try and get them to fix it under my just barely expired warranty. They wouldn't, so then Rick spent almost two weeks finding me the best, most affordable converter to replace mine. Another time, I took my car in to have my brakes checked, and lo-n-behold, he told me they were fine...and, as advertised, it was free. Finally, I took my car in to him to have the oil changed, fluids filled, and the car in general checked over before driving form IL to CA. Guess what, he checked my entire car, and FOUND NOTHING WRONG. He changed my oil, only charging me for that. Amazing!! Who ever goes to have their car checked and the mechanic doesn't find "SOMETHING" that needs fixing. I drove to CA, with no issues. My only problem is I live here now and Rick is all the way back in IL. Wahhh!!! read more
