It's been about 6 weeks since I finished a 10 session rolfing series and feel this review is way overdue. I've tried rolfing before and was unimpressed with treatment and results. But I decided to give it another go. And I'm so glad I did! Midway during the first treatment I knew this time was going to be different. He clearly has a unique intuition and ability to figure out what is going on with the body and how to treat it. Throughout the weeks I felt myself standing straighter, my body untwisting, back and hip pain disappearing. I joke with my friends that he fired me as a patient because after the 10 sessions he announced I was done and now I had to simply integrate the work. He wasn't wrong. I had my first session yesterday, and was absolutely amazed. Part of my reason for going was the depth of reviews on Yelp from happy clients, and I'm happy to add mine to that list! Words really don't suffice, but let me just say that Lorenz is one of the most knowledgable people I've ever met about anatomy, physiology, and chronic pain. I think I learned more from him in the first hour than I have the past 3 years trying to address things myself. I was talking to this gal one day at the pebble beach spa and she kept talking about Rolfing. I had no idea so she explained it this way... "He Rolfed my feet and now I cant wear a backpack on one shoulder anymore. I am so balanced I have to sling it on both arms. " That stuck with me for years until some time back I sought out some help for a sore shoulder. At the same moment i looked up on a wall near market and Sanchez / Noe and saw a sign that said: massage, Rolfing. I called, but the Rolfer had moved. With some diligence I managed to find the Rolfer - Lorenz. We made an appointment and afterwards I finally understood what she meant. I was standing about an inch taller and FLAT on my feet. I went back for another 4 out of the 10 treatments. I got through the facial/mouth Rolf and that was as far as I could go at that time. I don't think I have ever released more tension in my life in 60 seconds (and I can usually go much longer, swear). I can't say enough good about Lorenz. It's why I wasn't surprised to see everyone had given him 5 stars when I realized I hadn't Yelped him yet. If you are looking for an ultra deep tissue massage with many unexpected benefits, for the same price as a massage anywhere else... you should give Lorenz a call. He is truly a healer. read more

I feel like I'm parroting other reviewers when I say that Lorenz is, undoubtedly, the most knowledgeable body worker I've ever met -but I guess you can't overstate the truth. Lorenz has a voracious appetite for learning and his lifelong subject has been the physiology and function of the human body. Because he has studied and practiced every modality in the book (and honed his own intuitive skills) he can look at your body and tell you in minutes where age-old imbalances lie. He can touch your knee and release something in your toe that's been bothering you for weeks. Or somehow release deep abdominal muscles you didn't know you had and change the way you breathe. He can pull just the right tool for your body in it's current state (of function or disfunction) from his seemingly bottomless tool-belt, and you'll always leave feeling (yes, perhaps a bit sore, but also) grounded, released, rearranged, informed, and neatly put back together again. Lorenz is totally awesome. Like most desk workers, I've had a problem with my neck and shoulders for years. Massage and chiropractic helped, but nothing "fixed" it. Not only was Lorenz able to make a serious improvement in one session, but he identified the problem with my posture that was causing much of the pain. As a result, I've been able to make a slight adjustment to my position and alleviate the pain when it recurs. I definitely will be seeing Lorenz again! read more

Lorenz is great & has done wonders correcting my body. Rolfing can be a bit uncomfortable but the results are SO worth it. He even fixed an extremely painful muscle spasm. He's an advanced certified rolfer and extremely knowledgeable. read more

A rolfer recommended Lorenz to me! I ended up seeing Lorenz for a 10 Series, and it remains one of the most profoundly positive decisions I've made for my health. That was about three years ago, and I don't want to imagine how I'd feel and move if I hadn't. I was repeatedly blown away by the increased range of motion I had after each session and realizing how limited it had previously been. Since then, I've seen Lorenz for about five more rolfing sessions. He is incredibly knowledgeable, (beyond interesting,) and very compassionate. My chronic back pain is gone. Seriously. What started as a little neck and shoulder tension many years ago evolved into persistent aches and pain. Massage, yoga, chiropractic, a new mattress - all helped initially, but the pain always came back. I'd heard about rolfing a few years ago, but held back on trying it, primarily out of fear of financial commitment to the 10 sessions. Well I finally did it (out of desperation). Now I just regret that I waited so long. It might be the best money I've ever spent. Lorenz has an uncanny ability to spot what is causing all those random aches and pains in your body and focuses intently on fixing them. Rolfing can be intense and and uncomfortable, but Lorenz has a great sense of humor and helps keep the whole process enjoyable. I recently started an intense running/workout program that I never could have done before (running always aggravated my back) and am running farther than I have in years. There are not too many people that are in bodywork today that know as much as Lorenz. Whenever I have a sessions with him, I not only feel amazingly better (sometimes a bit sore) and relaxed, but I have a deeper understanding of why I have pain in my body and where it came from in the first place. This has really helped me to break out of any pattern that causes my body that pain. Most certainly worth the price, you don't know how important your health is until you have gone through the pain and realized that you don't have to live with it. I have yet to find anyone in San Francisco who is comparable to Lorenz in breadth of knowledge and intuitive skill. He taught me a whole new way to relate to my body - a totally new vocabulary. My husband turned me on to rolfing after he told me about his experience with Lorenz and all the long term benefits. I decided to try it and although some of the sessions can be very intense, it was well worth the ten sessions. I can feel a true difference in my posture. For the most part, I am a wimp when it comes to pain, but with rolfing, as intense as it was, I was able to get through it, so don't be discouraged. I actually looked forward to each session. Lorenz is a highly knowledgeable, responsive, curious and caring practitioner. I have seen about 20 body workers and Lorenz is among the most skilled. He assesses your problem in the context of how your whole body is functioning, so cure is integrated into overall functioning. I first saw Lorenz about a year and a half ago. I went to him after seeing an acupuncturist, a masseuse and a chiropractor countless times for my lower back pain ~ some days I even found it hard to walk. After one visit with Lorenz I was able to truly walk again. I thought it was a fluke but realized the next day I was really feeling better than I had in a long time. I did the full 10 sessions.
