What a popular and bustling day spa in River Falls. I went for my first appointment there to see Ryan for a clinical massage. I used to be a patient of Ryan's prior to him working at Lori's. He's phenomenal at his craft and you can tell he loves what he does. A clinical massage is more like physical therapy for a particular area that is bugging you. This can include therapy like cupping, etc. That's just an overview. He can always work his magic on my back issues and get me back to 100%. He also provides massage services as well. Everyone I've talked with at Lori's Day Spa is friendly and helpful. I've been getting my hair done by Shana Blanco for a couple of years, and she's definitely the best I've ever had. She does an excellent job, and she's lovely to chat with as well. I've also had her do facials, and she always makes it a special experience. This place gets an extra star for being pleasant and having a nice place. However, none of these ladies keep up with the times and the stylist I had seemed frightened to perform a simple foil. Thank goodness I didn't get a cut too! I came out almost with the exact color I came in with. I expected light and bright and came out with same/same and my wallet was around $140 lighter.....I didn't complain because one of their friends referred me and it is also difficult to see with the lighting. These ladies perform on a basic level, but for more money than they should charge. Don't let the 'Aveda Salon' label fool you as the services are probably the equivalent to Great Clips-no kidding. read more

My experience started upon arriving at the spa and receiving a warm welcome from the receptionist. I was given a warm neck wrap and served hot tea while I waited in the relaxation room. The décor was very warm and inviting. The staff was extremely pleasant. I booked an appointment for a Brazilian wax with Lori, owner of the spa. I have had Brazilian waxes multiple times before, but not from this spa. The end result of the Brazilian wax was disappointing. Out of all my waxing sessions, this was the only time I ever experience pain. I was with Lori for about an hour, when my previous professional wax sessions took around 20 minutes. Lori's unprofessional attitude shocked me. She blamed me for her inability to completely remove all the hair, stating the hair was matted and grew in different directions. Her technique felt unrefined and lacking in experience. I was asked to hold my own thigh to assist in tightening the skin for hair removal. I do not believe an expert in this field should have their client help out to this degree; it made me feel that she was unskilled. In my previous waxing experiences, I was never asked to assist and all hair was removed successfully. They offer no trimming services in case the hair is too long for the wax to reach the roots appropriately, yet on their website there is a note saying "*For best results the hair must be at least 1/4 inch long (approx. two week growth). " I know other salons have trimming services available in order to maximize hair removal and decrease client discomfort. At the end of this painful experience, not all the hair was removed as one expects with a Brazilian. I was still charged for a Brazilian wax and no other discount was offered. She does not appear to have the touch or skill to do Brazilians; I do not recommend anyone to book a Brazilian wax appointment with Lori! The next day after talking to Lori, she very graciously gave me a full refund. I commend her excellent customer service. read more

Came here to get a mani and pedi for my May wedding. This place is so pretty and relaxing. My manicure and pedicure were so much fun and my hands and feet felt and looked fantastic when I was done. The staff is incredibly pleasant and wonderful to be around. They can be pretty pricey as far as mani/pedis go. Had it not been for the fact that it was for my wedding I'd probably have gone elsewhere. However it was a very positive experience. read more

I have been to Lori's in the past for massages and had great experiences. I went in today for my first shellac nail service and was very impressed by the quality of the attention to detail that went into the process and the results. The technician and I had great, casual conversation and I felt feeling dazzled by the results. I also enjoy that they carry Aveda products and have very excellent staff from the moment you're greeted at the desk to payment. read more

I've been very happy with most services at loris. Been going for years for massage. Recently I went through something traumatic with my hair falling out due to stress. I sent an email to loris letting my stylist know of this devastating condition. I never heard back from my stylist Wendy. Very disappointed that I didn't hear from her. will no longer be using Loris for hair services :( read more

They offer a wide range of services, but they're pretty pricey -- like what I would expect to pay in the cities. I bought my mom a gift certificate for $50, and when all was said and done, I believe her haircut, style, and grey coverage cost over $100. The place has some little extras for sale as well, like bath salts and lotions. It also felt a little claustrophobic to me in the main room, but maybe it's easier to breathe in the back rooms where they do haircuts, etc. read more

Come here for a monthly massage and have a wonderful experience every time. Even made it in to an appointment during one of the many snowstorms this last winter and Lori was out shoveling the walkway herself for guests. I also received a facial here once and loved the room, it contained luxurious looking pedicure chairs next to a fireplace so now a sisters day with pedis at Lori's is on the to do list. read more

Deep tissue massage with Renee was fabulous. She worked out some extraordinarily difficult issues I've been having with leg cramps. The surroundings were clean, quiet, comfortable and luxurious. I've utilized services at other spas, some that have won international awards. Cruise ships, Caribbean resorts, and some of the "best of the Twin Cities". None compare to Lori's, in of the my opinion. I've had facials, Brazilian waxing, pedicures, and massages and all services have been top notch. I noted that another review said her waxing experience was not good. Lori has always been my waxer, and when I went to another spa for convenience, it took three times as long, the quality was lacking, and the service was more expensive. Lesson learned--I'll stick with Lori's. I'm also puzzled at the other comments regarding pricing. I think her pricing is lower than in the Twin Cities, and she offers a superior product. read more

My experience with Lori's has been limited to facial waxing and pedicures, but those services have been consistently good. The pedicures in particular are better than any I've had anywhere else. Sometimes when you are "only" purchasing the less expensive services from a spa, the employees don't exactly give you the same treatment they'd give someone else who was getting multiple services and spending a lot more money. That is not the case at Lori's--I am always greeted warmly and I'm offered the same amenities as someone who is there for much pricier services. The atmosphere is cozy, inviting and very relaxing. The prices are a little steep for such a small town, probably more comparable to the Twin Cities. But when I consider what I'm saving in time and gas, and the wonderful customer service, I'll stick with Lori's. read more

Had an amazing facial here. Their makeup is pricey, but I splurged on a face powder, which I used everyday for 2 years before I had to replace it. Whenever I go home to visit my family, I love stopping here. Most services priced fairly, though some a little too high for comfort, but you will get what you pay for. read more

I've been going to Miss Diane for my last couple of haircuts/ eyebrow waxing. I came in originally after a terrible haircut at a local chain store...when your husband looks at you and asks you if they cut your hair with a weed whip, trust me it was bad. Miss Diane is incredibly thorough and does a perfect cut. I have medium curly hair and she straightens my hair to ensure an even cut. They don't find reasons to up charge you for every little thing. They offer you a warm neck wrap and tea FREE while you wait. Convenient weekend hours and a very professional experience. The epitome of pampering. Worth every dime. If you get the pleasure of meeting the owner Lori, she is also very pleasant. Great place. read more
