Where to begin?! From the second we walked in it was such a positive experience! The older gentleman who sat us was very kind and knew the menu very well, the restaurant was the cleanest one I've seen ever! What a hidden gem! Tucked in the back corner of a small shopping plaza in Pleasant Grove you will find this amazing place! From the chips and salsa to the chili relleno and asada burrito you can not go wrong!! By far the best Mexican food we have had in a long time! So many delicious flavors and you can tell they really care and pride themselves on the service and the recipes! They take their time and not in a bad way! You get what you pay for for sure! Very well done and we will be bringing everyone we know here!!

    Nube de Queso!

They completely remodeled the restaurant, and it looks amazing. The food is delicious, and the ambiance is great, definitely one of my favorite spots for brunch or dinner. You have to try the Nube de Queso, Chilaquiles, and Molcajete!

I've been going here for many years---15 plus...so this is not easy to write. Great & classy new interior...the makeover is very nice & attractive. Unfortunately the food has changed A LOT and in my opinion not for the better. The red enchiladas sauce tasted like ketchup ..the beans had no flavor. The chili was bland. The chicken on the quesadilla & enchilada was dry. The server was fantastic & very accommodating..could not have been nicer. They need to bring back the old cooks and have their old food back. Sorry, not all things need to be changed & the new food is not an improvement. Not likely going back ...very sad after 15+years of great authentic Mexican food.

Wonderful and newly renovated restaurant giving an upscale Mexican restaurant feel. The food was super tasty and the cocktails were delicious, service was really attentive and very friendly. You must try the churro cake it's really yummy.

When we first saw Los 2 Compadres we thought we were facing what appeared to be another "hole in the wall" Mexican restaurant. When we walked into this well kept secret dining oasis we were pleasantly surprised. As you can see from the pictures it's a nice place to dine. For a Monday night, their business stayed steady. Mexican fiesta banners hang throughout the dining areas. There are large screens on all the walls with projectors facing each screen for displaying live bands on the weekend. Service was quick! Complimentary chips and salsa were brought out immediately upon our being seated and more chips offered when the basket was empty. They weren't the best chips we've ever had but far from the worst. The salsa was mild with just the right amount of heat. The small salsa bar had enough variety of salsa and other toppings to satisfy any palate. We placed our order within minutes of our arrival and our food was delivered shortly after our ordering. The Shrimp Enchilada dinner was PACKED with chunks of shrimp! The taste was great! I will definitely order that dinner again. Where most Mexican restaurants garnish their plates with a piece of lettuce and tomato, this one actually had salad with a light vinegar and oil topping. The Chili Relleno looked very appealing and was one of the best we've had since leaving Texas. The rice contained mixed veggies; the refried beans were pretty typical. Their horchata was probably 32 ounces and was cold and refreshing without being watered down. We rarely give any restaurant a five-star rating, especially on a first visit, but we're making an exception for Los 2 Compadres. This is our new go to Mexican restaurant for northern Utah county!

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. There were only a few other parties ahead of us. The…read moreservice took over 30 minutes for our food (one quesadilla and one breakfast burrito). They should be pumping out the orders. It took forever and there was zero explanation from the cashier upfront or an apology when the food was ready. As far as the food goes, it was fresh and good. Tasted authentic and the meat was good quality. I enjoyed the green salsa and the avocado salsa as well. I would be back but definitely plan out waiting for over half a for my food.

I will say, this is NOT fast food. They make the food fresh to order so do not expect to have a fast drive-thru. We waited quite some time but I have no complaints about that because of the freshness of the food. Additionally, we ordered a side of rice but the nice gentleman at the window told us that as they were cooking the rice, they decided after doing quality control, it just wasn't up to par with their standards. So, he offered us a refund on the side of rice and they filled the taco salad with all the other yummy stuff. We appreciated the honesty and would rather a refund than to be sold yucky rice! As far as the food goes, it was all fantastic. The taquitos hit the spot and had guacamole, cheese, and lettuce. I'd for sure get them again! The refried beans were hot and flavorful. The beef in the taco was juicy and fresh. We will definitely try the taco salad again when they have better rice so we can get the full experience but the chicken was super juicy and flavorful. We are happy to have stumbled upon this place and grateful they're open for our late night cravings. We will definitely be back!

I got #15 combo the first time I went, and #14 the second time (pictured). Wish I would've got pictures of more but we came super hungry, the phone didn't get time to eat. My wife got the giant fajita quesadilla and didn't need to eat to for 24 hours. The tortillas they use for the tacos, etc are phenomenal. Sopapillas so so good. The staff is so friendly, we were warmly greeted by a multiple staff each time. Suzie was our server the first time and she was 10 out of 10. Very nice to our young kids and even knew to bring them spoons for their rice and beans. The manager or owner or whoever wears the shirt and tie was funny and friendly. A very warm individual. Inside is great you feel like you're in the southwest. Can't wait to be in Provo again to eat here.

Like most Mexican restaurants, they start you off with chips and salsa. The salsa itself was pretty good and had a kick to it that kind of surprised us. I ordered the shrimp tacos, and they were good, but I felt like they were missing something, so I ended up adding the salsa from the chips onto the tacos. The rice and beans unfortunately lacked flavor, and I honestly couldn't finish them. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas, but they accidentally brought him a tamale and chile relleno instead. I wanted to say something, but he just wanted to let it go and eat it anyway. The tamale was pretty good, and he didn't mind the chile relleno either. Overall, not a terrible experience, just not somewhere I'd personally rush back to.

Including cleaning the grill to avoid cross contamination as well as giving us a safe substitution of chips for our appetizers. The food itself was incredibly flavorful and authentic. Carne asada was so tender and juicy and the ceviche was surprisingly tasty. The restaurant itself was well decorated and an open kitchen concept as well which is so fun. Our oldest grandson said the carnitas tacos were too good--he ate six of them. My arrachera steak had a great flavor, and the side of onions and portobella mushrooms was generous and perfectly cooked. I also enjoyed the tasty glazed carrots. My husband's bone-in short rib birria was melt-in-your-mouth tender and enough to feed two people. Unfortunately, I had to deduct a star because of a safety issue. The arrachera was served on a hot stone placed on a wooden board. When it arrived at our table, the stone was still so hot it was spitting droplets of fat. Being short in stature, I was right in the line of fire. Also, metal absorbs heat, so the steak knife leaning against the stone was too hot to touch. Another problem with this serving method is that a medium rare steak can quickly become well done. Anyway, I had to transfer the food to a plate before I could eat it. I strongly urge the chefs or waiters to plate the arrachera in the kitchen, even if the presentation isn't as dramatic.
