    Mofongo!!!!
    Veronica O.

Raised in Aguadilla, PR (Isabela's next door neighbor) Los Almendros has the best Mofongo in the north west! Every time my husband and I fly to visit family we stop here for our Mofongo fill up. My husband always gets the Mofongo with Shrimp and Criolla Sauce with a side of rice and beans. I get the Octopus instead of shrimp. The restaurant is located right on the beach and is sort of a famous hole in the wall (really, nothing fancy) but the food and service has always been good. HIDDEN GEM! We stumbled upon this place totally starving after a long day at the beach. Server Elvin was GREAT! Totally took the time to discus the house specialties with us, in English. We decided on the Marlin skewer, mofongo with shrimps and the churrasco w/ rice and beans. Only complaint is the steak was a little bland, over cooked and a little chewy. Was a little tough to cut with the plastic utensils supplied. Besides that everything was perfect and service was on point, Elvin did a great job! We will def be back when we visit Puerto Rico in the future.

Each one was better than the previous with the lobster Thermidor special being an absolute home run! It is the very best Thermidor I've ever had. The ingredients were fresh, cooked perfectly, with a cream sauce that is out of this world. The lobster was so tender. I even got to pick it from an ice chest when I walked in. Just an absolutely amazing dining experience on each occasion with excellence service and pretty much every appetizer on the menu is amazing. I really can't say enough about this gem in Aguadilla. For those who may be curious about their name, that's the island on the eastern horizon. Enjoy!!!

Amaury greeted us, was super attentive to our needs, and checked in on us occasionally. None of the other restaurants, especially in San Juan, did this. Foodwise, it was fantastic. We shared a variety of entrees. Known for their mofongo, we got the La Isla Desecheo ($37), which consisted of Cassava mofongo stuffed with churrasco in a mushrooms, parmesan and bacon sauce. That sauce was delicious, especially when you mixed it with the mofongo. We also got the Pechuga a la Carbonara ($19). This is a chicken breast stuffed with ham and mozzarella, breaded and fried with Carbonara sauce on top. I would compare this to a Chicken Cordon Bleu as it's very similar. Delicious nevertheless. If you're feeling like getting steak, then the Churrasco Z ($33) is for you. This is a Churrasco steak topped with a creamy parmesan cheese sauce, mushrooms, and bacon on top. We ordered this medium rare and they made it to perfection.

The food was absolutely incredible, without a doubt the most flavorful meal we had all week, and honestly one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Order the chicken... WOW! Every bite was packed with amazing flavor. The service was truly exceptional. One of our servers, Allen, was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. He took the time to talk with us & he didn't seem rushed. The teamwork among the staff was amazing to watch. There was a gentleman constantly walking through the dining room clearing plates the moment we were finished, keeping everything spotless without ever interrupting our meal. Everyone worked together so seamlessly, and you could tell they genuinely enjoyed what they do. While we waited for our food--which actually came out super fast for PR--our daughters loved spending time down by the beach area. It was the perfect way to keep them entertained while we relaxed. And the view... photos simply don't do it justice. We had no idea just how breathtaking the setting and ambiance would be until we experienced it in person. If you're in Rincón, La Copa Llena is a must-visit!!

Unlike your typical Puerto Rican restaurants on this island, this restaurant is pretty white washed, so expect to be treated like it's mainland USA and they expect you to treat them the same. Water is not free. They'll bring you fancy water and charge you $5 for it. For food we got the Fish Curry ($32), Orecchiette Pasta ($28), and Tapa Poke ($20). The one dish not worth getting is the Tapa Poke as the portion is essentially bite size and you're paying $20. The others were pretty good, no complaints.
