Something has changed here. The food used to be great but the last three times we've been there it was mediocre at best. And who likes brown guacamole? The food is always delicious & fresh. We like the steak fajitas. The cheese dip & salsa are a favorite. It's cozy & the staff is friendly.

I see they're building a new building, and I hope they are building new attitudes for their staff that service their customers. All my experiences with them, there have been less than good. Ive ordered from them in the restaurant, and got Multiple to go orders from them. Almost every experience was either poor food, quality or real bad customer service...Seems like all their staff have bad attitudes when they were serving you. For finding food in a pinch, late at night, in a rural area, this food was awesome. We had no expectations and were pleasantly surprised. Must try: - spicy salsa - fajitas Not missing out: - rice was quite basic, although my wife liked it. The staff were nice and friendly, and many bilingual. Got food to go at 845 at night when closing at 9. They made the food promptly and it was fresh. Order got a bit mixed up (forgetting meal, but quickly adjusted and were apologetic). Chips average, salsa bright and fresh especially the hot salsa!!! To-go margaritas were pretty solid; better when poured into a salted glass with a smidge extra of añejo. Not that our group can't afford chips and dip but know when eating here, they will charge you for chips if you order white cheese. They will also charge you for every chip basket request over two baskets regardless how many people are in your party. This is the only Mexican restaurant I've every seen to charge you for chips and dip over two baskets. It's the principle behind it more then the money. This place is not a good place at all. They gave us two baskets of chips any extra cost $3.95 each. I wanted white cheese it was $4.95 chips don't come with it. So $9 for white cheese & chips. Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Drinks were cold, everything was clean, food was fresh, hot and delicious. I had chicken fajitas and they were fantastic. This is one of a chain,and I cannot vouch for the other locations,but this is a gem.The food is great,and the portions generous.The service is fast. They have all the usual dishes you would expect,but are somehow better than other restaurants in the area.They are a bit off the beaten path,but worth the drive.Among the many dishes they offer is a Poblano pepper steak that is my favorite,along with very good marinated chicken entrees.You will find the prices very reasonable. read more

This restaurant is small seating for 30-40 ppl at most with 4 waitresses working, upon arriving with a party or 7 adults and 5 kids they quickly went to not being able to seat us when we could clearly see a open table to accommodate. After threat of going elsewhere they quickly figured it out. Once seated and drinks ordered it was atleast a 10-15 min wait for drinks food was finally ordered 45 min - 1 hr after being seated. Then another 30-45 min waiting on food and 2 in our party got there food after everyone else was done eating both of those meals went in Togo boxes and 1 Togo order never even got made. Food was bland not a lot of flavor, the margaritas was not made well, while setting there we had 2 different waitresses service was poor, parking lot is not marked well. My wife and I recently ate here as the restaurant at Kenlake lodge was closed and we wanted something to eat without driving very far. This is a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. I ordered the rib eye steak with cream sauce and the obligatory rice and beans. My wife ordered the whole fish fried tilapia. The complimentary chips and salsa were mediocre at best. My wife enjoyed her fish. I did not like my steak. The advertised 10 oz steak look more like a 6 oz steak. It was way overspiced and overcooked as well. The cream sauce did not add much of anything to the overall enjoyment of the dish. I was quite disappointed with the meal and will not return if again in the area. I should note that this was the off-season for the area so that may have effected our experience. read more

They might have groaned under their breath when my husband and I strolled in 15min before closing with 4 kids but they certainly didn't show it. Service was excellent and the food was fresh and hot. Yes this is the place if your visiting the land between the lakes area. Great service, best food we have had in a while. Mexican done right! We recommend it all, we tried 5 different dishes between usually one is bad at other restaurants. This place we ate them all. Well done and the rita to go was worth it! read more

If you find yourself in this neck of the woods, in the off season on a Monday afternoon, you're in luck! We stopped here because it was the only sitdown restaurant open. While the decor is not overwhelmingly impressive, the menu offers a full variety of Mexican dishes, the service was good and the food was delicious! I have tried 2 other Mexican restaurants in Benton, but Los Amigos was the best. Los Amigos is actually in Aurora, near Kenlake State Park. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is great. We ordered during the COVID 19 Pandemic. So take out only. I had a chimichanga and my husband had pollo ranchero. We also ordered Pina colada's. We had an 8 minute ride home, but the food was hot and not mushy or soggy when we got it home. Chips and salsa were the best we have had in a long time. The drinks were very good too. We will definitely order again, and dine In when they reopen. read more
