How do you start this review? Wishing I hadn't opted for my second visit to Los Arcos? I'll go with that. Hubby and I stopped in today February 19th right before lunch. I ordered a Carnitas lunch and hubby ordered fajitas. Both of us were sorry we ever stopped again. Our first visit should have scared us off but No, we went back for more sub par food. I always try to give everyone the benefit of having a bad day, or bad service. This lunch was disgusting. I'll start with hubbys cold fajitas. No sizzling cast iron platter, no steam or sizzling platter. I even asked my hubby if they were hot. He said they were hot. (Mind you the table next to us had a sizzling and steaming hot platter served while we were seated). So that was a disappointment. 2 minutes later my Carnitas plate arrived. I didn't immediately take a picture but I dug in to the beans and rice first. They were warm but instantly I could tell they weren't made today. They actually had an aftertaste to them. Then I looked at all the fatty pieces of pork on my plate but the real kicker was the avocado on my plate... then you look at the pico de gallo... with unripe yellow tomatoes... I tried to eat it. Ordered cheese steak, asked that cheese be "on side" as their steak can be rather fatty and it was, food was palatable, upon paying realized they charged an extra $5.00 to put cheese in a very small bowl. On "the side". The same as if strewn over steak! Will have second thoughts about returning? read more

We dine regularly at Mexican restaurants in all different parts of the country. This place is not even close to authentic, but I M in Western Kentucky. Our server spoke no Spanish at all. She didn't even know what chilaquiles was when I ordered it and it's on the menu. Poor girl looked terrified. Did I mention we were the only table in the place? My ordered us cheese dip and the server brought it and spilled some on her hand and proceeded to lick it off her hand (please no KY stereotypes). Brought my wife fajitas on a plate with no tortillas. We asked for some tortillas and they brought my wife a look warm packet with 2 tortillas in it. I could go on to tell you the blandness of everything or the fact that the chilaquiles looked like chicken nachos without the cheese. Taco Bell is more Authentic than this place. The food was good but the service was majorly lacking. It was a week night, not busy. We were without chips and drinks for a while, when the server would walk by, and we would ask, he would not even acknowledge that we were speaking to him. The food came out all at different times. My husband got a plate that came with a enchilada, quesadilla, and burrito. The enchilada and quesadilla are exactly the same dish. They are just folded differently lol. A treat to ourselves right? WRONG!!! What I Ordered vs what I got was a total shock!! The Vegetables were the frozen Medley kind. The crinkle cut carrots and stems of broccoli and califlower! I expected the casa Blanco as was served on the Pollo Verde but was charged extra. The chicken was NOT breadth meat...it was boneless chicken thigh! Went here with some friends Sunday afternoon for lunch and it was not delicious. I had a chicken quesadilla with a side of guacamole and the guacamole had no taste at all and was very plan. I don't think anyone at my table of 6 was really impressed with their meal except the service was fast and they were very friendly. read more

We arrived before dinner hour, and we are glad we did, as the local crowd quickly filled in all the tables -- even on this midweek evening! The chips and salsa (free) were extremely fresh! We are vegetarians so we loved the wide variety of vegetarian choices labeled in its own section! All the options we chose we well plated and of plenteous proportions. The server was polite, quick, and anticipated our needs. We are well and it was fresh and healthy...for the price of a Taco Bell meal! I just ordered $50 worth of food, carry out. When I got home, I realized that all my containers were indented and food was poured into the bottom of both of my bags. I called to let the manager know, heads up, your employees are not closing the containers. There's a pandemic right now, closed containers are more important. The manager told me that there is a sign to check orders before you leave, so it was actually my fault. So if management believes you must audit their work before completing a purchase, what we're not allowed to audit in the kitchen... The chips were stale, my chile relleno was miniscule and drowning in a plate of overcooked cheese, my husband's street tacos were filled with inedible pieces of tough fatty meat. Even his bean and cheese burrito was terrible. The only decent thing was the chicken soup, but I've had better versions everywhere else I've ordered it before. I'm from California and have pretty high standards for what good Mexican food is, and I have to say, they've exceeded my expectations! Excessive wait time, with a near empty restaurant. By the time our food arrived the queso looked like it had been scraped from the bottom of a crusty pot and by the time our main course came out it was room temperature and was not a very tasty meal either. Another one of our mainstays in Benton until they priced themselves out of our price range. Use to be able to mitigate that a bit by going for lunch instead of dinner but since they keep shortening their lunch hours that's not possible anymore. When they first opened lunch was until 4 for many years, then 3:30, then 3, now it cuts off at 2:30 & since my lunch hours haven't changed I rarely get to go anymore. This was our second visit to Los Portales and we had another filling affordable meal. Everything seems fresh though they may be lacking on presentation at times. We both ordered a la carte items. I ordered a Chile Relleno (bell pepper, beef & cheese) and a Chile Pablano (pablano & cheese) with a guacamole salad. The chiles were tasty, but lacked on presentation. The Relleno was mostly a sea of cheese with a piece a pepper and ground beef swimming in it. The Pablano had more topography as it uses a whole pepper, but the brown enchilada sauce on it threw me off. Both were tasty and met my low carb needs. My wife got a side salad and chicken soup. The soup was huge, quart sized ($6.50) and seemed very fresh including fresh chunks of avocado and cilantro. Needless to say, she had leftovers. read more

The manager said they used to serve it on two plates. Oh yea, the price was extremely affordable! You may think the service is slow when they bring out others' plates and yours. Don't be fooled. Super good carnitas, the salsa wasn't flavorful and the spicy salsa wasn't spicy just had a lot more cilantro. I don't like biting into big chunks of cilantro. The carnitas were awesome and other dude had Fiesta fajitas that were good AF. The waiter was too impatient. He was halfway gone to get what we asked for before we finished telling him everything so he ended up getting pissy with us cause we had to ask for something else 3 times in a row.
