Neat little restaurant/store. In looking for "the perfect" Mexican restaurant, I came across this tasty little place on Yelp, thought, "why not?" And decided to give it a whirl. You order at the counter from a plentiful menu. Sadly, I was not offered chips and salsa for munching on while I waited. I ordered a chicken chimichanga smothered in queso- tasty but not the best I've had. Standard rice and beans as a side. Overall, didn't have the "wow factor" I've been looking for but I'm glad I tried it. It's little places like these that tend to surprise you. Pros: Food tasted great. Pretty good for Mexican in food hell Tampa. My whole fried fish was as good as any in LA or SD (seems to be where the best Mexican is). Prices are very fair. Service was very attentive and eager. Bathrooms were fairly clean. Cons: All drinks are in bottles or cans and therefore a little more expensive. Not even any iced tea. Review for vegetarians: I have been dining at this location for a while now and am a vegetarian. I consistently ask everywhere I go to ensure that rice, beans, sauce, etc is vegetarian since it's not part of everyone's everyday lives. Unfortunately, I found out today that the "vegetarian" menu here is not vegetarian. The beans contain lard (which in the past, I have been told they do not). The service was great but the inaccurate info on the menu is deceiving. The server was very respectful and understanding but informed me that the owner "would not care" and would not do anything to change the menu. Disappointing. I will miss their queso. Los Amigos is always a solid choice when in the Dunedin area. There are slightly better tacos to be had in the surrounding area, but where this place really shines is with their quesadillas and tamales. Sure the service can be hit or miss, but due to the fact this is a market with restaurant attached, one shouldn't be showing up with five-star expectations. The table salsa has always been watery, but usually the salsa verde or salsa rojo (if you ask for it) is pretty much on point, with the rojo having a nice, smoky flavor. Pro-tip: when paying for your food at the main grocery counter, scan the little baked good section off to the left-hand side. Sometimes, they'll have locally made baked goods in there that are out of this world. If you are a fan of coconut macaroons and happen to see some back there, they're amazing. read more

Cheap and good Mexican food! There are weekday specials, and the best deals are on Wednesdays and Fridays. Wednesdays are $1 tacos (chicken or steak) and Fridays are $5.99 fajitas. I've only had the tacos and guacamole here, and both are delicious. The $1 tacos are smaller than their regular tacos, so be prepared. They also have a good deal every day of the week: 3 regular-sized tacos for $5.50ish. My favorite are the carnitas tacos, because they're tender and flavorful. Unfortunately they're not included in the $1 taco Wednesdays, but the steak and chicken are still good! This is authentic Mexican food, so it's meat, diced onions, and cilantro. Yum! There's also a small grocery store that has some produce, meats, spices, candy, and household supplies. When I take out, I grab an avocado to put on the side. Not impressed with this place at all! BOOOOOO! Thumbs Down. I saw some really good looking meals coming out of the kitchen and being served. Looks like they even make fresh corn tortillas here, but unfortunately, I didn't order any those things. I ordered a Cuban Torta . First thing that was wrong... I get home, open it, and it's F&@"&! burnt, and I mean charcoal black on the top!!!!! This is what u send home with people and think it's ok? !!! The answer to that is NO. If this place wasn't more than 15 minutes away, I would have driven back and returned this straight up GARBAGE! Second, too much meat for me. That is my fault because I ordered that in particular sandwich and knew it would be a lot, but what I didn't expect was the meats to be Tough like a shoe and unseasoned. It tasted like the grill and oil. The pork part of it was a tough ham steak too. Disappointing. I was expecting shredded pork. Not a breakfast ham steak that you serve with eggs In the morning. The spiciness of the sandwich was the only good part which came from the jalapeños . I WILL NEVER BE BACK. There are plenty of other Mexican places that I've been to lately that I love, and take pride in the food they serve to their customers. Wow. For the other 10 reviews that gave this place either 4 or 5 stars should be ashamed of themselves. Usually if a place has 10 or more reviews that are that high it is a definitely is a hidden treasure. I was wrong with this place. First, the restaurant is next to the food market. Alright, that is not atypical of a good Mexican joint. The area it is located leaves plenty to be desired. One of the front windows had plywood over it. Seating felt a little like a truck stop. The cook behind the counter was eating and cooking at the same time. Dirty dishes were piled up on the same counter as my fresh food that was coming my way for dinner. Now the only good thing here was the salsa and chips and the vast selection of meats - tongue and tripe are two interesting ones. Helps that this place is a 'meat market'. We are huge Mexican fans and feel it's all about the salsa. That was a little lacking here. It was tasty but the authentic and very watery kind. Nothing to write home about. The queso was white cheese and good. You can't really go wrong on queso! The carnitas burrito was huge and quite good. I ended up sharing that with both kids! My chicken tacos and my wife's steak tacos both had dried out meat that could have leftover from last year. They were not worth the price. The booths were very uncomfortable, and our greeting from the waitress was more of a frown. We will not be coming here again. We have friends from Mexico who would never serve such bad food. How did I manage to miss this place after hitting 30+ different Mexican food places in Pinellas over the last 4 years of looking for the most authentic Mexican food around here (see my list below)? Interior is very nice and peaceful on the scale of authentic Pinellas restaurants/taquerias, which are often bare bones. Stopped by here on a recent afternoon when no one else was inside. Had a great lunch of different tacos. I tried the barbacoa, al pastor, and pork, which were all very good. They also have beef, lamb, and chicken which I need to get back and try out. The enchiladas were highly recommended by a friend, so I'll give those a whirl, too. As always, beer is the beverage of choice for cleansing the palate for the next tasty bite, and Los Amigos Dos has a pretty good selection. I'll definitely be back to check out the rest of the menu. Food is alright but their salsa they serve for the chips is the worst I have ever had my entire life. I grew up on the frontera, I have literally tried countless of resturants salsas...
