Best burrito in the Clearwater area is at Joven's! When I'm craving hot sauce on somtin somtin lol I go here & get their massive flavorful burrito! The size is HUGE! The grilled veggies are fresh & the crunch really sets the bar up high for an independent taco place. I like that their steak is cut up smaller pieces than the bigger cube shape. There is ample parking & no line usually when I come here. They have real Mexican drinks & Mexican glass bottles drinks which is pretty awesome. Enough seating for a quick bite. When I first entered Joven's it was extremely clean and the staff was very friendly and ready to take my order. We ordered a Burrito, the Carne Asada Fries, and Chicken Tacos. The burrito was packed with flavor I just wish after they stuffed it they would've put it on the grill one more time to heat it all the way through. The carne asada fries were packed with tons of meat and toppings more than two people could eat from that one container. The chicken tacos were average I'd probably skip them next time. The service/ambiance were 5 stars but the food was about a 3stars to me. read more

Fresh, delicious, excellent. This is my new "go to place" in Clearwater. My wife and I both ordered the Pollo Keto Bowl with a small Cheese Sauce on the side. We could have split one bowl. We asked about low carb wraps, which they do not have, but they told us to bring in our own wrap and they would make Keto tacos or burritos. Delicious Food, Too Much Unrecycled Plastic Joven's is a counter-order, quick-serve place. The dining area is comfortable enough. There were few other customers. I suspect that they do more take-out. The counter server was very pleasant and helpful. Prices a fair. I got a bowl with the El Pastor on rice with a variety of toppings. It was full of flavor and very delicious. Unfortunately, every plate and utensil is plastic and they have no place to recycle it all. That's lot of unnecessary waste and it would enter my decision about eating there again. read more

We were in town for a quick weekend getaway and OMG this place was amazing! It's like a small, local burrito shop and it's SO GOOD. They have really great options - I'm from California and we love to put potatoes in our burritos, I was so excited to see one with French fries on the menu AND they were so tasty and crispy!! My fiancé got the carnitas and he said it was so good, we were both super impressed. The burritos are huge for the price. Service was great and quick, they were super nice. I've never heard of this place,I was driving up Myrtle,looked to the east, saw a sign , stopped in & ordered a Al Pastor Mexi-Cali style with pineapple. Had a very good menu. Darn it. I really wanted to like this place. Here are the reasons for my disappointment. Wife's bowl had no flavor. Corn tasted like it was from a can. (Saw a can on a shelf) Chicken diced so thin, it was dry. Cilantro/lime rice had no cilantro and no lime. Pico sauce was tasteless. Wife had to add salt and lime to make it taste better. Good thing I had lime slices for my shrimp tacos. Speaking about my tacos, they were good. Our meals, with drinks, busted through $30. Ouch. Should have been $18 or so. A few more observations: Loud 70's music suddenly filled the air. Kitchen supplies were stacked up in the dining area...cups, tomatoes, and the canned corn. I'm sort of surprised In And Out Burger hasn't served this place with a cease and desist for copyright infringement. I'm serving them with a notice that we are OUT and done with In and Out Taco. read more

I walk in and I ask for carne asada fries. The lady told me it'll take 2 minutes. That was already a red flag for me as I see her toss the fries in the fryer. Fries take longer than that. Anyways I get my food and all the fires are gross soggy and undercooked. By far the worst carne asada fries I've had. Stopped here for a quick lunch. Hidden away in a small plaza so there are only a handful of parking spots. Inside was actually pretty poppin. The staff was friendly and other customers were raving about the menu selections. I went with the carne asada nachos. You also get to choose 4 additional topping for free with additional .50 a topping except for guacamole. The serving of nachos was huge. It was plenty cheesy and the medium hot sauce wasn't too spicy. The carne asada was average, was hoping for more of a flavor but nothing crazy. Overall a lot of food options and made fresh to order. I think the extra topping are a bit overpriced, but still a solid place to go for lunch. Also the line never stopped, it was very popular with the locals. read more

As a mexican, this is not Mexican food. This is an embarrassment to my culture. I have never had "Mexican" food this bad. Pollo and carne asada taste like dog food. Tortillas taste rubber. The carne asada fries had cheese that tasted like reheated velvita. The fries were soggy. The tacos are bad, the rice is bad all of it is bad. Except for the habanero sauce. It wasn't that bad. The rice pudding tasted like actual battery acid. I thought I was eating something out of a laboratory. Save yourself some time and money if you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine. First off- this was renamed Joven's Cali Mex Grill sometime in the last couple months. They're still rebranding - Yelp wouldn't update the name but its on the sign outside as well as on Google etc. I have been twice- the first time I got a bowl and it was great. Second time I got the nachos and while tasty I wouldn't do those again- got soggy fast and didn't reheat well. Service size is pretty generous. Lots of topping options. Staff was friendly. Minor complaint on the guac being an entire $2 extra. The pina lime agua fresca is light and refreshing- not too sweet at all. I really enjoyed it. Getting into and out of the plaza can be a bit of a challenge- just a warning. read more

Saw this place a week ago and decided to swing by and pick up some food on the way home. It's located right in the corner of Court St and Myrtle. It's a new plaza that recently opened. Parking is kind of tight as they share the lot with other 2 other businesses. Inside is roomy and clean very clean. The menu above the back prep area is legible and easy to understand. They also have a scanner code menu for your convenience. Just like any other taco place you select what you want with protein and the toppings. For beverages, they have the sodas and multiple selections of drinks in the cooler. I didn't really look at all, but I think there was a fresh pineapple drink drink (don't quote me on that though). Now the taste... I ordered a Carne Asada burrito with my selected toppings. The wifie ordered the Carne Asada nachos. First the burrito, my burrito was the size of a small (American) football . I selected to have Cilantro Lime rice, the carne and topping. The rice wasn't dry at all and the Carne is very well seasoned. I may not select any other sauces added next time this way I can taste the carne more (it was that good). The nachos were also delish. It was big enough for two adults. They give a good portion of carne and you can top it off with what ever you want. I adefinitely going to frequent this place a lot. Not sure how my waist would like it but my tummy sure does love it ! The staff are very friend and they don't give you (at least for me) hurry up and pick what you want in your burrito vibes. Really good, fresh food. Mostly to go service with a few tables in a cute, clean atmosphere. Quality ingredients, but definitely on the pricey side ($50 for two tacos, one burrito, one order of nachos, a dessert, & tip!). Service was good, friendly and accommodating. Two of the staff were wearing masks but one was not so we're not sure what that was about. The El Pastor Tacos are INCREDIBLE. Corn or flour tortilla are equally good - the star is that pork. Its just delicious and the simplicity of toppings - onion, cilantro & pineapple - were just perfect. Yum! The Carne Burrito is HUGE. We ordered ours with onions, sour cream, cheese, picante, rice, beans and beef. The beef was delicious- savory and beefy with just enough random fatty bits to add flavor. The Shrimp & Beef Nachos were the priciest, with an extra charge for every single ingredient it adds up. We saw other nacho orders being packed to go fully assembled, so to avoid a soggy mess when we got home we asked them to pack our chips separately and they cheerfully complied. The cheese sauce was really good and we both really liked the chipotle ranch as well. The shrimp were good sized, flavorful and nicely grilled. Highly recommend you skip their desserts. The "tres leches" was bad (enough that we actually threw it out - a sacrilege in our house!). It was just a piece of dry processed cake with that fake "kreme" topping. At $5 it was way overpriced, crappy quality, and frankly not worthy of a place doing everything else so well. If something special & homemade is not an option they really should just drop desserts all together. Overall a great little spot serving really fresh tacos and nachos...just do the math before you put in your order to avoid sticker shock! read more

The locally owned, authentic alternative to Chipotle that you've been waiting for! The al pastor here is wonderful and reason enough for a quick lunch or dinner visit, especially with the addition of pineapple. The restaurant is a mom and pop shop but you wouldn't guess it due to its fresh, new and modern decor inside. Brian is a breath of fresh air and clearly cares so much about the business and his customers' happiness. He was so friendly, accommodating and courteous, and if I had a business, I'd hire him to run it immediately! The food was fresh, delicious and all made to our liking. You simply choose tacos, bowl, salad or burrito and then choose a protein and toppings. The salad bowl is a great option for anyone trying to go low carb or keto. They also have two types of rice: red or cilantro. The queso has a little kick to it, which I love. The chips also seem freshly fried. Some advice would be to set up a little salsa bar on the side for anyone wanting to try to add some heat or tinker with their bowl. read more

My favorite were the Al pastor tacos which also has pineapples inside...never had it before but it was an excellent addition. Prices are affordable, too. The owner, I believe his name is Brian, is committed to good customer service and it really shows. I hope everyone checks this place out; you will not regret it. WOW!! What a treat! We were in the neighborhood and looking for something different and delicious to try for supper and we found it at Joven's. We were promptly greeted by a cute and clean dining room as well as a nice friendly smile from behind the counter. Having never been there before, we all watched as the first person ordered their food. He ordered a burrito bowl with Al Pastor which she cut from the spit and heated on the flattop, he said it was very good, I opted for the nachos and was I impressed, the carne asada, the pinto beans and the cilantro rice were the perfect start atop the freshly fried tortilla chips, she then added the queso which had an incredible flavor then pico de gallo, jalapeños and corn. we took it up a notch with the tasty homemade habanero sauce. The 2 guy's behind me ordered nachos as well. There was a sign advertising Taco Tuesday, 3 ground beef tacos for only $5. We all truly enjoyed our meals and are already looking forward to our next meal at this fine little restaurant. My wife, daughter and I just had dinner here and it was delicious! We were craving something new in the taco department and In N Out definitely measured up. The shrimp in the shrimp tacos tasted very plump and fresh, which totally did it for me. I was actually surprised because that's usually the exact item where taco restaurants skimp a bit. It's like they figure "there's an object resembling a shrimp in there--that's good enough". I only bought one, in fact, for that very reason. I was expecting to be underwhelmed as per usual. At In N Out Taco, as soon as you take a bite, it's as if the shrimps jump up and say "HELLO! We're shrimp, but we're not shrimpy!". It totally makes the taco. The carne tacos were also excellent. The beef was extra tasty and yet the tacos were built in the classically simple style of a real Mexican taco. Basically beef, onion and cilantro (although I will admit, I was so eager to down these tacos that I didn't analyze the contents--but that's how it tasted). By the way, make sure you get some of their chipotle ranch. It tasted very fresh and flavorful. My wife had something unique: Carne Asada Fries. She and my daughter absolutely devoured it. The staff there were great. They asked how we heard about the restaurant and made sure we had everything we could need or want there. Just had dinner for the first time at In N Out Taco. I'm 1/2 Mexican, so when I say this was really good Mexican food, believe me...I've had the best there is from my Great Grandmas home cooked meals. I usually get tacos at any Mexican restaurant I go to, but decided to try the Carne Asada fries. Sounded so good and was different, and I wasn't disappointed! The fries were crispy and fresh, the guacamole was really good, cheese and sour cream, and I added their homemade chipotle ranch which made it even more amazing!! Think Nachos, but with fries instead of chips. My daughter loved her chicken tacos and hubby had one of each of their tacos. I judge a business by its people and they've done a really good job of staffing, Brian was super outgoing, helpful with suggestions on what to get, and just overall a nice guy. It goes a long way these days, it's rare, so when you get great customer service, you're almost willing to overlook other things just because they're nice people....Lucky for them, they have both...good service AND excellent food!!! Coming from a true an actual Mexican, this place does not pass the Mexican the test, horchata and arroz con leche (rice pudding) don't cut it. Also when I said "arroz con leche" they had no idea what I was talking about. But all authenticity aside, if you are looking for fresh tasting food, this is it. I often go to Joven's Cali to get tacos. We went with my wife and daughter on Friday evening. Here is why this is a great place: a) while the parking is not huge I find always a parking spot without any problem. b) I got 3 carne asada tacos and their tacos are not skimpy in meat. The quality of the tacos is great (PS: the Manager is from Mexico and she knows how the real tacos are made) c) the staff are friendly and the service is fast.
