Delish authentic Mexican street tacos! I had the carnitas and the portions were generous! Great service as well!

This was the only Mexican place open for Thanksgiving near us. Being vegetarians, that's what we were craving. It was a bit of a drive and not as fancy as the larger Mexican places we usually venture to, but the food was excellent. It was obvious they had many regular locals. Service was timely and polite as well as informative. There were several hot sauces to sample and purchase in the store if you like them, and at really great prices as far as hot sauces go! So I had to ask my dining partner to help me with this review. When I asked how many stars he said 4. When I asked him what they needed to do to get 5 stars his response was 'it isn't the best I have ever had as far as mexican food goes. Save 5 stars for those reviews.' So, we walked in and we couldn't really figure out if we ordered at the bar or sat down so we asked and she said go ahead and have a seat. She greeted us immediately with a 4 page menu. Asked us what we wanted to drink and delivered it in about 3 minutes. We ordered the chorizo tacos (3 of them for $2.50 each) and a chilaquiles con huevo with an over medium egg. It was delivered to our table in under ten minutes. And it was delicious. If I ordered the chilaquiles again I would ask for chorizo on it. There was also lettuce and crumbled white cheese. The chips were thick enough it stood up to the red salsa which was the hotter of the version available. When she asked which salsa I wanted I said whichever is the hotter one. She said that's the red and 'are you sure?' Lol, yes, totally sure but thank you for asking because a lot of people get upset when their food is overly hot. This was also served with rice and retired beans which I did not even touch. It was SO much food I couldn't finish the chips. The tacos had cilantro and onion on them. She gave us the red and green hot sauces to try on them. They were all very good. We also ordered the chips and salsa. The red salsa had a nice flavor and was fresh. I really liked it as it was on the runny side and not thick and chunky. It could have been hotter though (as you can tell I prefer the heat) as it had no zing to it. Our bill was $18. You pay at the counter. They also have a mexican market on the other side of the building. They have a huge meat counter in back. I have no idea what all they were selling at most of it was not labeled. I assume they sell chorizo... when we need some I would go back here and ask if they sell it. The people were friendly. The food was great. It was clean inside. It was well decorated. It was busy when we were there on a Friday at almost 2 pm. Let's just say we were the only white people in the place which we loved. You know you are in an authentic mexican place when latinos eat here regularly. And they were working class latinos as they were all covered head to do in dirt. It was quiet and comfortable. They have a ton of specials. Today's special was 3 pork tacos for $6. Includes rice and beans. Eat here. Eat here. Eat here. Oh, they serve breakfast items until 4 pm and after that they charge an extra $1. Really good prices here. They do accept credit cards. read more

Very authentic and friendly service staff. Food is fresh and full of flavor. They recently had some delicious flavored waters (pineapple and/or jicama) that were very refreshing. Wednesday is dollar taco day. The tacos are smaller than the typical one they serve but it's still a great tasty deal. You can get steak or chicken and it comes with cilantro, onions, and lime juice. Yum! They do serve bottled Mexican beers there and Mexican coke and Pepsi (if you're going to drink soda then might as well have it with real sugar and NOT gross hi fructose corn syrup). Overall, I love this little authentic place and I always bring a friend that throughly enjoys it as well. PS - ordering in Spanish is not a must. They do understand English. :) read more

Wow, this place was amazingly great & authentic. I knew I had stumbled onto something good, because so many people that appeared to be of Mexican heritage were in here at lunch time. Lol, why do I have a feeling that was a politically incorrect statement to make? I'm just merely trying to stress this place's authenticity. I ordered 2 bistec tacos & 1 chicken tamale. The food came out fast & was so flavorful. The bistec was not tough & for the most part was cut into easy to chew pieces. There were onions & cilantro & pieces of lime to squirt on the meat. Excellent! My only complaint was one piece of meat was not chewable. It had thick membranes & gristle in it. The tamale was awesome & flavorful. It came with a slight chipotle drizzle on it which was brilliant. The meal came to under $6 which also was wonderful. Chips & salsa do cost extra, but I can tell you the salsa was unique & obviously homemade & addicting. read more

Good food at a great price! Friendly and fairly fast service. We ordered to go. I had the carnitas burrito and it was a great distribution of ingredients. Flavor was spot on. Guacamole is delicious! Attached market has the staples and back meat counter looked fresh with nice selection. read more

The staff was awesome. I ordered a steak burrito it was awful. I have eaten at many different Mexican restaurants and this one was terrible. Steak was either old or just way to over cooked. I will not be eating there again. read more

First of all we couldn't figure out where to park. About 3 places on each side and it didn't look like you were supposed to park in the front and if you did you'd have to parallel park and about two would fit. Found one on the side and walked around and walked in...no one would even look at us. One couple was sitting and eating. Walked up to the counter and spoke to the man fixing food. He did not respond. Looked around a bit and stood there and no one came. Kept thinking the man would say something to us...nope! So strange! So we oddly walked out thinking...what the what? read more

Ordered takeout and it was delicious! Was pleasantly surprised... have driven by this place for years but never tried it and I'm disappointed I didn't try it sooner... ordered the chicken chimichanga, chorizo queso and rice with refried beans!!! All very good! Will be returning for sure! read more

This is by far the most delicious Mexican meal I've had in a very long time. We ordered the guacamole and queso first, then enjoyed a chicken quesadilla and 5 tacos between the two of us. The chicken was perfectly shredded and seasoned and the flavors of everything we ate left us wanting more, even though we were stuffed. Our server was super friendly, too. Fantastic little place. I started bowling across the street at Dunedin Lanes and noticed that there were always a lot of people coming and going from Los Amigos Dos, so I decided to give it a try one evening, after league play. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Bar none, the best street tacos in Pinellas County. Sometimes the beef can be a little over-gristly, but not as often as many other places I've been to. Their gorditas are some of the tastiest I've ever had. And seafood...pretty much ANYthing they make with shrimp, scallops, or mussels, etc is sublime. The restaurant itself is a bit of a dive, but they really do a good job of keeping it pretty clean. It may look broken down from the furniture (booths and tables look like they've either had them for decades or they bought them at auction from someplace that had them for decades...either way, old and broken down), but if you can get past that and accept that you're there for amazing food, not second-date-worthy ambiance, or if you really dig the dive atmosphere (like I do), then you'll do ok. One warning, though: when the waitress tells you that a particular dish is spicy...she means it! The camarones a la diablo - "a la diablo" indeed...I think my tongue now has a burn mark in the shape of a pitchfork...worth it, though! read more

This place was horrible, it was barely busy and it took 40 minutes to make 3 tacos. Then the order comes out wrong, the waitress says she will remake them and left the wrong tacos on the table. I ate them and she brings the bill, as I was ready to leave she brings me a to go bag with the correct tacos. She them proceeds to tell me I need to pay for the tacos they remade since I ate the first ones that were their mistake. It was unreal, I will never go back here again. read more

We love this place! We have come two times now for dollar taco days (Wednesday) and have ordered both steak and chicken tacos. The steak tacos are a little more flavorful than most authentic steak tacos we have had around the country. This time, we also tried the Chorizo gorditas and they were excellent!!! We will be back again and again while we are down here for the winter. After a bad experience at another local "authentic" Mexican place, Los Amigos Dos is a breath of fresh air for these two authentic taco seekers! read more

Boyfriend picked up food here so I don't have a review of the ambiance or service, just the food: Damned good. Now, you're going to pay for this good food, it's not Taco Bell, but it's worth the pennies. We each got a chicken burrito, some chips and guac and 1 can soda for him. It was just shy of $25. The burritos were HUGE and I probably won't eat dinner tonight, lol. Very, very, good. And the waitress made us some fresh guac real quick because they were out...sooo delicious! read more

A hidden treasure. Many people do not realize that Los Amigos Dos has a taqueria in one half of the building. The food is delicious and authentic. We frequently get the tamales, which are prepared on site and steamed in corn husks. The tacos make a great small snack. We usually get barbacoa, which contain moist, flavorful meat. Be sure to ask about the daily agua fresca. read more

I used to like this restaurant but will never go there again my plate had a long hair on it food was warm waitress wasn't friendly or pleasant didn't check on us then on the bottom of my food lol was an eyelash I was so grossed out I didn't finish anything. This restaurant is located inside of a small grocery store. Have only come here for the food and it is well worth it. We usually come on Wednesday which is $1 taco night including chicken or steak. The tacos are smaller than normal but they aren't cheap with the meat. We have also had the sopes, gorditas, tortas and tamales and all are equally good. I really like the chorizo as it is full of flavor but they drain much of the grease out so it doesn't end up all over you. The hot sauces aren't the best I've had but they get the job done. read more

This my second review and two years later, they are better than ever. Incredible taste & value - especially the tacos. They are a bit better known now than before but that had not affected quality one bit. They recently improved the restaurant too so business must be good- as it should be! This place was SO good! The people that complained probably complain about TINY crap wherever they go. Their issues should not be good enough to keep you from experiencing this place! My coworker from Mexico says this is the most authentic he's tasted while being here. I'm with him. I ordered a shrimp burrito and the thing was huge and stuffed full of delicious FRESH shrimp! I've shopped at their grocery store for almost two years but yesterday (12/28/16) I finally decided to try the food because it always smells so good in there and I was craving tacos. I didn't catch our server's name but she was quick and polite. Food came fast. We ordered several tacos - bistek, carnitas, lengua, and chorizo. We also ordered a bistek sopes. I never got around to the carnitas tacos but my boyfriend said it was great. The bistek tacos were perfect. The chorizo is made in-house and it's been a favorite of mine for the past two years so of course the taco was great. My absolute favorite was the lengua taco. Soft, rich, and perfectly seasoned. I have not had better anywhere. The bistek sopes was perfect, too, of course. The right amount of crunch and chew to the torta and loaded with meat, queso banco, crisp lettuce, and fresh diced tomatoes. Just heavenly. Truly authentic Mexican. If you haven't been to this hidden gem in Dunedin, I highly recommend that you try it some time. read more

Big fan of this place. It's a Mexican restaurant connected to a grocery store. Know what you're in for, it's not a fancy restaurant. The decor and seating is a bit like a nice cafeteria. They play Spanish TV and football. There are always people coming in and out through the front door. The food is cheap, greasy and authentic. Sometimes that's what I want. read more

The tacos here are delicious! I have tried everyone one on the menu. My two favorites are the mixed steak and chorizo and the pastor taco. The Barbacoa is delicious and I am not really a huge lamb fan. I love the choice of Mexican beverages they have as well as the tiny bodega attached to the restaurant. I have had tried a burrito and quesadilla here and both were tasty but became soggy pretty quickly. The homemade salsa and salsa verde are both delicious. This is my go to place when I'm in the mood for tacos. read more
