I was waiting for my car to be serviced at a nearby dealership and walked to Los Andes where they served me the best lunch I've had in a long time! I ordered the 1/4 rotisserie chicken with two sides of which I selected a side salad and plantains. I waited maybe 7-8 minutes after ordering for my food to arrive which was not bad. The initial smell was fabulous. The chicken was so tender, juicy and packed with flavor. Some of the best chicken I've ever had.... seriously! The plantains were fried to perfection and so sweet. The side salad was a decent size with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. I'm not sure what the dressing was but it was light, homemade and good. I couldn't resist trying a sweet treat so I oredered an alfajores to go. The cookie was filled with dulce de leche. Yes please! The cookie was soft and sweet but not too sweet. I first stopped by here a while ago to pick up some Aguadito de pollo when my daughter wasn't feeling well and it was absolutely delicious! The comfort and flavor of the soup really stuck with me but somehow I ended up forgetting about this gem until recently. I'm so glad I came back! I ordered to go again. This time I had the Steak Arroz Chaufa and wow, it did not disappoint! The portion was huge-to-go container was literally overflowing. The steak was tender, cooked to perfection and the fried rice was bursting with flavor. I also tried the Beef and Aji Gallina Empanada. Both of the fillings were incredible wrapped in golden flaky pastries. Couldn't resist trying the Lucuma Cheesecake. Did not disappoint. Creamy, not too sweet, subtle caramel like flavor. We were car shopping and wanted something a little different! Los Andes was what we stumbled on and we were so delighted! Their menu is simple and doesn't overwhelm you with a million options. We have a family friend who is from Peru and has cooked some of the items that were on the menu before. I was so excited for the Lomo Soltado and my husband was super excited for the pesto that came with roast chicken. The owner was quick to greet us, seat us, and take our drink orders and then our food order. The food came out quickly. Lomo Soltado is a Peruvian steak stirfy over fresh cut potato fries served with white rice. Oh. My. Goodness was it delicious! Did a small dinner with some friends. One of them had never been here before. I was sooooooo excited for them to try it! I always always always get the Lomo Saltado. Soooooo good! And their rice that comes with it ... oh maaaaaaan. It's not plain. It looks like plain white rice, it is not! I don't know how to explain it, but when you try it ... oh, you'll understand! Any place I walk into and immediately want to start dancing is a good sign. As the Latin music played we were graciously greeted by Joshua who was very accommodating in taking our orders and explaining all the choices they had in their empanada choices. We tried all of the empanadas and each was heavly filled with chicken and beef goodness. We also tried the De Churrasco sandwich. It was a tender skirt steak with general sandwich toppings.. and of course we had the chicken 1/4 with rice and beans.. the Chicken was juicy and tender..very good.. I felt for me everything was perfectly seasoned as I don't like over salted food.. We took home a assortment of desserts to share with the rest of the family and they enjoyed them also. One visit and I can't wait to go back again! I brought my other half and my son in for lunch on Friday and just the smells had me hooked! We ordered a variety from the menu- empanadas, chicken with sides and a steak sandwich. All of the food was amazing- the guys loved the empanadas, John bragged about his steak sandwich. The chicken was flavorful and Eddie loved the dipping sauces so much- he had to get another one! The plantains were perfection and I loved the black beans and rice too. Then the desserts! Tres Leches- which normally I don't even like- in this case I really enjoyed and we took home a couple cookies which I didn't share- because they were so good! Right when you entered the experience began with the wonderful decorations and music that was being played on the tv. Our food was great too. The empanadas where very tasty. I was so happy when I found out there was a Peruvian rotisserie chicken restaurant. I am Peruvian and do love pollo a la brasa (fancy Spanish way of saying Rotisserie chicken). My family and I shared a whole chicken, with French fries, rice, beans and a salad. It was absolutely delicious. We even bought some alfajores (Peruvian version of an Oreo but with dulce de leche in between two buttery cookies) and some churros! I must say everything we ordered did not last long since all the food ended up in our bellies with no leftovers to spare. A cozy and casual Peruvian restaurant with a few tables off of Atlantic Boulevard and 295. My husband and I both had the Lomo Saltado Beef stir fry. Lomo saltado is a popular, traditional Peruvian dish, a stir fry that typically combines marinated strips of sirloin with onions, tomatoes, french fries, and is typically served with rice. The dish originated as part of the chifa tradition, the Chinese cuisine of Peru. Being Asian no wonder I like the salty soy sauce flavor of the dish. I chose to have fried yucca instead of french fries. They didn't have the traditional Huancaína (pronounced wan-kay-eenua) sauce but they had other spicy sauces for my fried yucca dip in. If you've never had this Huancaína sauce, you are missing out! It's cheesy, spicy and a little sweet - a perfect sauce to dip your cold potatoes, French fries, everything in. My dish was still five stars. My Spanish Mother-in-law had the rotisserie chicken. My MIL said her chicken was very good and she is somewhat a picky eater and she finished everything. We also took a Tres leches to go. The small dollop of dulce de leche on top of the Tres Leches was so heavenly. I almost ate the whole piece and left maybe two bites for my husband. The service was quick and my husband's only complaint was that he wished they had a cold glass for his beer but the reasonably priced meals and the large portions made up for it. Solid 4 star Peruvian food in Jax! Hubby picked up dinner from Los Andes Restaurant recently (I forgot to take pictures). We ordered 2 entrees to share - Lomo Saltado and Chicken Arroz Chaufa as well as a few Alfajores for dessert. The lomo saltado was very good. The combination of saucy steak, onions, French fries and rice is delicious. The best is when the French fries soak up all the tasty sauce! The chicken arroz chaufa was enjoyable but I wouldn't order it again. The pieces of chicken were a bit dry. I ended up adding sauce from my pantry. Flavor was good but this dish would probably be better with beef. Now the alfajores! Wow.. delish! This cookie was buttery and soft. I loved the dulce de leche filling, too. I love this place so much! Stopped in last night and got the Seafood Arroz Chaufa and holy cow it was good. Such a variety of flavors and cooked to perfection. It's also HUGE! My hubby and I shared and had more than enough food. I also got some empanadas. The only ones I've tried here are the lomo saltado because they are so good I haven't wanted to try anything else! The crust is light and flaky and the stuffing is so flavorful. I also almost always get the cafe con leche. I'm a coffee addict and I can't resist a good cup of coffee no matter what time of day it is! I've also had the chicken here and it was also really good.
