While a lot of places have been raising prices, their lunch specials are still under $10 which is honestly rare right now. Great variety too, and they've got plenty of kid-friendly options which made it super easy for our group. We came in with a party of 10 and everything ran smoothly. The staff was friendly, attentive, and on top of everything without being overwhelming. Food came out fast, hot, and fresh. You can tell they use good quality ingredients, especially the vegetables. Portions are generous, especially for dinner, so you're definitely getting your money's worth. My husband and I have been coming here for over 20 years. It is our favorite restaurant! The food is ALWAYS good, always served fast, and the wait staff is always on top of things and very friendly. I had my husband order soup for me because I'm not feeling well. I opted to order the vegetable soup (add chicken) because they don't make nor serve Caldo de Res. I find that odd, but many "Mexican" restaurants around Charleston don't serve this and other authentic dishes. Best authentic dishes in the states I've found are in south Texas, Arizona and southern California. It's commercial here. This is your no frills Mexican restaurant. It has been open for well over 30 years as they were there while I was in elementary school and are still open 20 years after graduating high school. The queso is the selling point. You don't go here without getting the queso. The chicken quesadilla is more like a chicken soft taco. Next time I should just say a cheese quesadilla. Having survived the hurricane, I spent the morning cleaning branches huge and small from the yard and was super-hungry by the end. Hubby came back from checking his workplace downtown and was so impressed by my efforts he said he would take me out for a nice meal. Wherever was open. Streetlights non-functional but nice officers waving traffic through, and we saw this place, which we have been to a million times but apparently I never reviewed, was open. So in we went! Immediate seating with a smile, salsa and chips before I could blink. I got Huevos Rancheros because it was kinda early and a giant margarita because I had already worked hard. Everything was great, everyone was friendly, and we were probably all still thrilled we had made it though another hurricane. If I were a Marnier readying ship and crew for a northern course of 4 times 30 days -- and wanted rations of Mextica food, I'd buy it here. The salt content would keep everything well preserved. This not being the case, I doubled dunked my blood pressure meds and went horizontal immediately after dinner, it was to that level. The Carne Asada was a pounded over cooked and pathetic piece of low grade capivara meat, again, heavily salted. Words can not adequately describe just how sticky and gross the side of guacamole was, hands down the worst to date, I couldn't eat it, I just stared at it and played with the goop pile with my straw instead --- for some entertainment value. I'm going with one star as it was a friends place to frequent, but I feel it's not a stretch to say that any one with salt intake issues should steer clear. More like season ground beef with a piece of pepper and topped with cheese, I asked the waiter and he said well thats what a chile relleno is!!! Hmmm..NO! And the chalupa... it was a tostada shell with beans, lettuce and some kind of green sauce on top of it with a single slice of tomato! The beef enchilada was mediocre. But the sweet tea was delish!!! Went on a Sunday right at opening. Not. Impressed! I was hoping for a great Mexican food experience instead I got attitude and just undercooked food. We didn't finish. Everyone raves about this place and how great the food is- total disappointment. The server took our order but brought the steak undercooked we had fajitas for 2. The chips and salsa were almost a beg to. We had to ask and the servers respond was "I forgot sorry" hmmm, ok. Floors were not cleaned the door was dirty the forks were not washed correctly. This restaurant is not worth the price of the food not the trip! While everyone raves about it I'll be the odd one here saying thanks but no thanks. Came here with my sister, brother in law and my guy on Cinco De Mayo night. We figured we grab a few drinks and have a little Mexican food. We ended up sitting at the bar because the place was full but we didn't mind it. Place is a good decent size. Clean for the most part and the staff was attentive and nice. My sister and I ordered Margaritas and the guys had beer and shots of tequila. For food, I ordered the beef tacos (carne asada) as usual. All around bad lunch choice. Everything was bland. I got the Yolanda's, a side of beans and a strawberry margarita. Margarita had so much syrup in it that I couldn't even drink it. The enchiladas were filled with mostly big chunks of vegetables and a little chicken and the rice was dry and had to be from the day before. Even the chips were bland. Not a pinch of salt and they shook out the bottom of the bag and gave that to me. The salsa was just puréed tomatoes. Bland and tasteless. No Love was put into any of this food. I called to no avail (the electricity was out) so I emailed them. No response. I called again and spoke to a manager. After the manager tried to tell me multiple times that I had not ordered from them yesterday, I went up there with the food, and all of the receipts. Visiting my family for the Memorial Day 3 day weekend & I, along with my family (party of 5), decided to stop by Los Arcos on a nice pretty Saturday. My Dad got surgery on his knees so he was unable to sit in a booth but the employees were able to accommodate him & us by setting us up a table. When we finally ordered, the food came out hot and tasty. At first, we weren't given utensils, but once they noticed, we got our utensils right away. My sister ordered a Pineapple Malibu bucket drink as well, she liked it but expected it to be stronger. Overall, not a bad spot. read more

I found Los Arcos to be a below average type of cookie cutter Mexican-esque restaurant. We were greeted at the front door promptly enough and sat in a nice booth, but then had to wait quite some time for our waiter to show up. That set the pace for our entire experience, as our waiter was quite slow taking our order bringing our food out, and bringing us our check at the end. The Hubs and I both ordered margaritas. Our daughter got a soda. I found the complementary chips and salsa to be lackluster at best. The salsa had very little flavor beyond the ground, canned tomatoes that they used as a base. When our margaritas arrived, our waiter did drop off extra glasses of water with them without us having to ask, which was nice. But then I took a sip of the margarita, and it had to be the worst margarita that I've ever tried to drink! The mix was really sweet and syrupy, and there was no detectable tequila anywhere to be found. I opted not to drink it and I just left it. The Hub's plate of carnitas looks okay, and he ate it all, but I don't think he really enjoyed it. My daughter's kids meal looked ok and she ate most of it. Honestly though, it's pretty hard to mess up a pre frozen cheese burger patty and french fries. My soup was very nice and I must admit I did eat it all. The entire experience, however, was just kind of "meh". I probably won't be back. read more
