First time in Montecito and looked for a place to have a bite. Wasn't happy with my experience. The food was not even lukewarm and the service was just ok. My omelette was actually on the dry side. Asked to have something reheated and when it finally arrived it was steaming hot. Really confused. It did not appear to be crowded so unsure as to why servers took as long as they did. I said quickly an NA Corona thank you. He continues to begin opening the bottle and I assert again for the Third time. No. It's an NA Corona. He puts the beer down. Leaves the door open. And fully walks away. True sorry. Not done yet. Then he grabs a glass. Gets ice from the beverage machine. Makes another guest at the bar a drink. And then never returns to close the door. Speak to me. Nothing. Nada. Not done yet. So the next server (lady) approaches me and says. What can I get you. I said. Ya know. Here is what happened just now. She just kinda ignores it. Blank stare. I'm kinda stunned and in fact in say.... Ya know, I'm not spending my money here. And I left. Bummer because.... I was looking forward to getting the Pozole. And enjoying the NA Corona. Came in and waited more than 15 min for service as multiple waitstaff idled there and did nothing

They want you to think they're dog-friendly. They're not. We'd been here before with our little guy - around 20 pounds, quiet and exceptionally well-behaved - without incident, and were looking forward to a great meal. When we requested a bowl of water for our dog, our server informed us that it was against restaurant policy to provide a dish. I kid you not. Having dined in many, many restaurants in cities across the U.S. with our dog, this was a first. We were in stunned disbelief. However, we were told our dog could be served out of a dish that we provided. We happened to have one in our car, so I ran down the street, grabbed it, dashed back and filled it with water from my water glass. Another server then appeared - a man, not the woman who had first been our first server. Our dog had been on the seat on the otherwise-empty patio and he ordered us - in a stern tone - to take our dog off. Listen, I get it. Some restaurants don't mind at all and others do, and we're fine either way. But he said it loudly, and harshly, and certainly not politely. Then he told us that he had changed his mind about the restaurant's strict water bowl policy (so maybe he was the manager? ) and that our dog could indeed drink some water. We informed him that it wasn't necessary, as we'd procured our own dish. He then starts telling us some absolutely ridiculous story about how he once considered providing plastic bowls but microplastics hurt dogs (dogs who would be using said bowl just once, mind you!). We were fuming and cut the story short. This meal was already ruined, and I wanted to leave, but we had already ordered, so we ate, paid our our 20% tip (the poor first server had nothing to do with their restaurant policy) and fled, vowing never to return. And thus ends our relationship with Los Arroyos. Dog lovers beware. read more

Honestly..I was surprised that Los Arroyos had pretty great Mexican food. Didn't expect to find that in Montecito. Was staying in town for NYE from Los Angeles (we have the best Mexican food so my standards are high). Craving Mexican and decided to give Los Arroyos a chance since it was across the street from our hotel. Very simple, clean decor. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Not busy during mid week lunch time but slowly filled as we enjoyed our meal. Staff was extremely friendly. We ordered a Tamarindo Margarita, Homemade Guacamole, and Fresh Chips and Salsa for starters while we perused the menu. The guac was the star of the appetizer course. Asked for another serving of chips just so we could finish every savory ounce. Our food: - Tacos Gobernador - Chile Relleno (a la carte) I haven't had a chile relleno is a long while. Honestly, a lot of places get it wrong. But Los Arroyos definitely got it right. Plenty of cheese and the entire chile, not just small slivers mixed in. Sufficiently saucy and oh so tasty. Would go back for the gauc and chile relleno. Wish I hadn't gotten so full from the chip and guac. Would love to try a couple more items from the menu. read more

We've been coming to Los Arroyos for many years, but have been coming less frequently. We just haven't been pleased with the food or service. Last night, Honor Bar and other restaurants in Montecito's Lower Coast Village were packed. We looked over at Los Arroyos and it was empty. We went over and waited forever at the entrance for someone to seat us. Once seated, the service was non-existent. The food too was sub-par. The order of guacamole was a tiny bowl that was gone with four chips. Its not hard to see why people are forsaking Los Arroyos, when everything else is crowded. We had a group of 7 and made reservations for a Tuesday night. We were greeted warmly and offered seating inside and out. We sat inside and got chips, guac, salsa, and margaritas for the table. The Guacamole was perfect! Soft, smooth, flavorful. I got the salmon tacos with a tropical side salad. The salmon tacos were delicious and filling. The side salad was just ok. I loved my blended strawberry margarita with salt on the rim! I also tried my friends ribs which were fall of the bone perfect. I was a little jealous they were so good. Food: 3/5 Service: 2/5 I recently visited this restaurant for the first time with my mom, who was excited to try it based on a recommendation from her friend. Unfortunately, our experience didn't quite live up to expectations. When we arrived, there was no host or staff member to greet us, so we seated ourselves. One staff member did kindly let us know that our server would be with us shortly, which we appreciated. Our server offered us chips and salsa with guacamole, and since it was presented casually, we assumed it was complimentary. However, we later found out it wasn't which felt a bit misleading, especially since it wasn't offered to other tables. When placing our food order, I ordered on behalf of my mom, but was not asked to choose between Mexican rice or salad for her side. I waited to see if the server would clarify, but he didn't return to confirm, and the food arrived with rice by default. While I understand I could've spoken up sooner, it would have been more thoughtful if the server had double-checked with us before placing the order. When we politely asked to change the side, the situation unfortunately took a turn. The server responded in a way that came across as defensive and unnecessarily rude, even pointing at me and saying, "You didn't tell me you wanted a salad." I calmly replied, "Because you didn't ask." I've worked in hospitality myself, so I truly understand that mistakes happen and communication can go both ways--but the tone felt unprofessional and caught both me and my mom off guard. After that, the server didn't check on us at all or ask how our meal was, except for one moment when he returned briefly after my mom noticed him looking toward our table. It left us feeling uncomfortable, as if we were being treated like a problem rather than valued guests. As for the food itself, it was just okay. I ordered my steak medium rare, but it came out quite rare almost completely red inside. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to escalate things after the earlier interaction, and I personally didn't mind eating it, but others might have felt differently. When the bill arrived, we saw that the chips and salsa were indeed charged. Again, we didn't argue we just felt it was important to share our experience through a review instead. Overall, the only strong point for this restaurant is its convenient location. Otherwise, I think the front of house staff could benefit from additional training on customer service and communication. We genuinely tried to be respectful throughout our visit, but sadly, the service left us disappointed. read more

They have really yummy cocktails and pretty good mexican restaurant in santa barbara. The montecito location has lots of seating and a cute bar, with outdoor seating as well. The portions are huge especially dishes that come with the sides. The rice was very good! The service is excellent and very accommodating! read more

We sat outside in the warm Montecito evening and relaxed with nice cool drinks. A Mariachi Band was playing as well. They would roam around the restaurant playing their wonderful tunes. I ordered take-out from Los Arroyos last weekend, and while the food wasn't bad, I don't think I'll make a habit of it. For one thing, it was just too expensive for a casual lunch at home. $22 for al pastor tacos, $22 for a chicken quesadilla, $23 for a chile relleno burrito, etc. The other thing is they packed up my tacos without a drop of salsa. They were decent tacos al pastor, with grilled seasoned pork, pineapple, onion, and cilantro, served with a side of rice and black beans. But they were definitely dry, and I can't imagine customers eat them without any kind of salsa at the restaurant. I ended up finding a jar of old grocery store salsa in the fridge, and that improved my $22 (pre-tax and tip) tacos. At least everyone seemed to like their food. It was reasonably tasty, and it was nice to be able to pick up a nice Mexican lunch on Coast Village Road. I'll bet it's a better restaurant for dining in, though, with access to margaritas and basic condiments. read more

Los Arroyos did a good job of accommodating our group of 7 Monday evening. Things to know: 1) Reservations are only available by calling - no Open Table or Resy 2) Ask to sit on the patio. It's a nice view of Coast Village Rd and all of the interesting Montecito nightlife 3) Their corn tortillas & chips are amazing 4) Larger groups get an 18% gratuity added and they do not point this out, so look at your itemized bill 5) The pitchers of margaritas worked out great for our larger group. They are $45 each and pack a punch 6) The ceviche on the appetizer menu is my favorite 7) Rest room was clean 8) Staff was friendly, but the only lapse in service was a failure to bring glasses of water to guests even after multiple requests. Fiesta in Santa Barbara is always pretty festive, and we discovered that LAMR&TO in Montecito was the perfect place to be on the final night. Along with the delicious Mexican dishes and Spicy Margaritas, they had an incredible Mariachi Band serenading us all. We even got in a couple song requests which they sang wonderfully. And even with it being a busy evening, our server Melissa kept on-top of everything, made some spot-on food suggestions, and made sure the evening went along smoothly. Disgusting! I Door Dashed a bean and cheese burrito and it arrived cold (we live very close to the restaurant.) The cheese was not even melted and there were hardly any beans inside of it. It was like biting into a cold burrito with cheese bricks and just a few beans. Terrible. I also paid $23 for two steak soft tacos which is absolutely insane! That price for two steak tacos which are basically street tacos is nuts. Those also arrived cold and the meat wasn't great. I have been a loyal customer since my favorite mexican food restaurant on Coast Village closed a few years ago. The food was consistently good, but lately service has been dismal. I have always tipped generously (20-30%) and knew most waiters by name. My last several visits left me standing endlessly waiting to be seated. My last lunch will be my last visit. 20 minutes after finishing I had to get up and hunt down my waiter for the check. Another 15 minutes lapsed and I had to hunt him down again to bring me my card and bill. It was a late weekday lunch so the place was not crowded. I hate to say it but I can't patronize Los Arroyos anymore. Maybe I'll try again in a few years, but until then, I'm out. read more

Delicious Food, Unfortunate Parking Situation I recently dined at Los Arroyos on Coast Village Road, and I must say, their food and drinks were great. However, my dining experience was slightly marred by the unfortunate parking situation outside the restaurant. It seems that a significant portion of the available parking spaces in front of the establishment were taken up by the employees' vehicles, leaving limited options for customers like myself unless you have a handicap sign. While I understand that the employees need a place to park during their shifts, taking prime parking space directly in front is inconsiderate and avoidable and it would be greatly appreciated if the restaurant owners/managers required employees to park down the street on Coast Village Circle as an alternative to ensure that customers have ample space to park. Their consumption of available parking also impacts neighboring businesses as well. Despite this inconvenience, I would still eat here assuming the parking gods are looking out for me and I don't have to circle the block a few times in search of parking! read more
