The ambiance is very smooth and chill with soulful music. The Mule was made with their own homemade ginger beer added to sparkling soda and lime juice, mint and vodka. As good or better than a mint Julip or mojita. Griffin service was friendly, informative and efficient.

The Good Lion is my go to whenever I'm downtown. They always nail it when it comes to creative cocktails. I especially love the names they come up with for each drink. The environment is casual, with indoor and outdoor seating. I love to people watch here! Located next to the Granada and the perfect spot to grab a few drinks before a show. Happy hour is Monday - Friday from 4-6pm and offers a small menu of $9 cocktails. Sometimes it gets pretty crowded depending on what events are happening downtown. My only gripe is that I wish they had two bartenders during the busier nights. They could be short staffed though. Nonetheless, it's still a great spot for good quality cocktails.

Trendy place with excellent cocktails. Very casual Downtown night vibes. The old fashion is my husbands go to drink other than wine. The B&B old fashioned was very good!

What a great place. Drinks and atmosphere are awesome. Great place to chill. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Santa Barbara.

The drinks here are great and average priced. Stopped by here after grabbing dinner next door on Friday evening. The tables were a bit dirty, i asked for a napkin to wipe down but still left sticky. Other than that, it was a good experience.

    Edgar - Ken-tiki Kentucky

The Good Lion is hands-down one of the best cocktail spots in Santa Barbara, and a huge part of that is Edgar. Absolute legend behind the bar. He takes incredible care of us every time welcoming, attentive, and clearly passionate about what he does. The cocktails are consistently some of the best in town! Edgar always knows exactly what to recommend and somehow makes every visit feel like you're a regular, even if it's been a minute. If you're going to The Good Lion, sit at the bar and let Edgar do his thing. You won't be disappointed.

What a great find! Like a hidden gem on State street in downtown Santa Barbara! Nested on state street right next to the Granada theater is this unique bar! This is almost like a speakeasy but out in the open! A cool place to just kick back in a relax environment with some solid cocktails that are very well balanced! Note only drinks at this establishment! You can get traditional cocktails or unique ones offered at this establishment! This establishment has a few tables that line the windows inside along state street. Plus a couple tucked on the side and some bar stools. Truly a cool environment with decorations and sophisticated environment. A perfect place to go before dinner or a show. Note: this bar is part of a hospitality group thus they have other establishments to visit. Each with their own unique vibe.

Was expecting more from this place. The tables were all dirty, it didn't really feel like a speakeasy and the drinks were forgetful. Service was decent.

Our favorite bar in the world! My husband and I are huge cocktail connoisseurs. We've been to over 30 countries, and honestly, we always gravitate back to The Good Lion. The technique from these bartenders is so unique, the vibe is sexy, and the drinks are consistently amazing every time we visit. This time, I stuck with a classic gin martini, but their Kentucky Mule is also incredible. It has a little spice to it that makes it stand out. Feels like a speak easy vibes, you can either sit/stand inside or sit outside on State Street.

    Marcella N.

Came here at the recommendation of the bartender at Dusk, and it did not disappoint. Craft cocktails and amazing decor. Quiet enough at happy hour to hang out and talk. Loved their fizz drink and their seasonal cocktail. We would come back here again.

Tangerine spritz, espresso martini, and east side
    Lauren T.

Lauren was our bartender and gave us great recommendations. The east side was one of the most delicious cocktails I have ever had. We also loved the espresso martini and the tangerine spritz. The ambiance was wonderful- it's not too loud, I love when I can still hear the person I am with at a bar! Highly recommend this spot.

The decor is too dark, and these people do not know how to make a Shirley temple. It's made with grenadine, not cranberry juice.

The cocktails are highly creative, diverse in flavor and design, and really could stand up to any you would find at a top cocktail bar in a major city. The exterior doesn't scream "must come in" but you absolutely should. Is it a tiki bar? Yes, but in the best way. And the bartender deserves applause for pulling off 3+ quite complex cocktails every 5 minutes off of memory and without any support.

In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

When we arrived on a Tuesday evening, there were about seven patrons throughout the bar and the outdoor seating area with the live music drew us in. We were told to order at the bar, so while the rest of our party was seated, I stood there for five minutes before someone took my order. Totally fine, but no sorry for the wait or even smile or any warmth from the male bartender, who disappeared for a five minute break shortly after taking my order. The tables at the outdoor seating area were very sticky and since there were no employees in sight I (and the other patrons who arrived then) cleaned the tables ourselves. After waiting 10 minutes I went up to the bar and assumed since our drinks hadn't been delivered, I was supposed to pick them up, I was told don't worry, we'll bring them to you, and after another five minutes, our drinks arrived. The cocktails were decent, nothing revolutionary but I am spoiled in this department, well made but nothing to get excited about . After 30 minutes of enjoying the genuinely nice outdoor area we ordered another round, three shots took another 10+ minutes. When we realized we had to leave to make our reservation, we asked for a box for our untouched food, and we were told we don't have boxes. They ended up finding one for For us, but it appeared to be a pastry box from somewhere else. The female bartender who took over after the male clocked out, was much more personable, but not much more efficient. To their credit, this bar has an excellent selection of tequilas and Mezcal's, so if you're not in a rush and you enjoy those spirits it's definitely worth stopping by. The music was really great and was definitely the highlight of that bar.

Pearl social is such a whimsical fun spot to grab a drink and a snack in the funk zone. We stumbled in for a late afternoon drink and it wasn't very busy inside - giving off "best kept secret vibe". The decor is very feminine yet playful. Loved the design and bar area. We opted for a casual booth area by the bar which was really nice. Also all of the little things were done well, crisp menus, clean bathrooms, and music done at just the right sound level. Their menu in the bar area for food is small but mighty - oysters, cheese plates, you name it. I'm definitely going to keep coming here for the cocktails. I've had one of the best sips in 2025 here - which would be The Mixtape cocktail. My friend told me I had to get it and I'm so glad I listen sometimes lol. This cocktail completely blew me away. The patio is in the back of Cutler's that can be entered around the corner (map on the front door of Cutler's shows the directions). The patio is next to other tasting room patios featuring wine and next door to Lark's restaurant. When we visited the tasting room at about 3pm in the afternoon, we were the only individuals there but started to fill up with other small groups. When a large group entered, the waitress said you will need a reservation as she was only wait staff there. Perhaps a sign is needed to notify people, that groups need reservations. The drinks were spot on- the drinks started at 14 dollars to about 16 dollars for cocktails. The tasting room also offers tastings of their products too. The tastings looked small. The cocktails were well poured. I was just disappointed to find out that I could not get a Bloody Mary on a Saturday- only Sundays- the Bloody Mary looked really good.
