Had lunch at Los Buenos Diaz today. Had the Los Tamales De Elote appetizer and they were interesting; not like any tamales I've seen before, but they were quite good. Also had the El Elote and these were not exactly my favorite version. There was a mix of several flavors. My main lunch was the Pescado Frito which I decided could actually be the best fish tacos I've ever had. Would definitely return for this dish. Needed a dessert so tried the Date Pudding. Expecting something resembling a pudding, was a little surprised that the dish was really a cake. Very tasty and definitely needed the ice cream on the side. Overall, was pleased with the offerings. Cost might have been a little steep for a casual lunch, but then again I did order several items. read more

I happened to find this spot while my friend and I were looking for a place that was halfway between the two of us. We arrived around 5:30, and it was fairly empty at the time m. The restaurant is medium sized, clean, and spacious, with a wide variety of menu options. They offer brunch, lunch, dinner, desserts, and happy hour which is a nice bonus. I do wish the happy hour details were listed on a menu or somewhere visible. Our server, who was new, let us know that margaritas were half of and only select tacos were $2 for taco Tuesday. We each ordered a margarita, which was deliciously only $6 each. For starters, we shared the "Los Tres Diaz" platter, which includes guacamole, elote and fish ceviche served with chips. Everything was fresh and flavorful and great way for two people to sample a bit of everything. As for the tacos, the happy hours election wasn't as appealing so I opted for the shrimp tacos. Instead, the order came with three good size tacos and although the rice and beans are available as an add-on they don't come with a meal. The highlight was definitely the mango pineapple, pico de gallo, and added so much flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was delicious. Absolutely delish! I fly into ohare frequently for work and was looking to grab lunch near by, Los Buenos Dias did not disappoint! We started with their guac which is fresh, flavorful, chunky and smooth at the same time and not spicy. Typically I like spicy guac but this had enough flavor to be perfect without spice. For my entree I got the vegetable enchiladas. Everything about these are perfect, from the blend of veggies they use being perfectly cooked and flavorful, the sauce having a mild heat and tang to it. I would absolutely get these again and they are a good portion size too. The rice that came with was perfectly cooked and flavorful. My dad got a margarita which he said was good, I did not try it. We were in Chicago and had time before our flight to grab a bite to eat. This restaurant was recommended so we checked it out! We sat outside to enjoy the sunny afternoon and had our choice of several tables with umbrellas. We started with guacamole that came as two big ice cream scoops and corn tortilla chips - generous size serving and thick chips that won't break when dipping. Nachos were also high on the list. Tried one of their seasonal taco offerings: Tacos Momia - Shrimp wrapped in bacon, garnished with cucumber, jicama, carrots, cilantro & onions, with chipotle aioli drizzle served on house made corn tortillas. Three tacos in a serving. And though it looks like hard shells, they were soft and didn't fall apart like most corn tortillas. Went here for dinner completely blind not knowing what I was getting myself into. Walking in it seems like a pretty small yet slightly elevated mom and pop restaurant. I ordered the hangar steak because I was feeling like a carnivore that night. And wow I am completely blown away. The presentation is gorgeous almost like what you'd find at a high end steak house. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked the a medium rare and it was so meaty and full of flavor and paired with the spicy and creamy sauce was just incredible. The purple mashed potatoes were also super pretty to cook at!! All this for $30 too!! If you're ever in the area please make sure to come here! Came by here for a late lunch with friends back in August. I live right down the road for 2 years but never went before. While I thought the food was pretty good, the prices did me wrong. I couldn't justify the menu which is why I never went before. My one and only visit proved my suspicions on this. Plenty of parking. Right next to a little mart. I had the 3 dip combo and 3 shrimp tacos and a margarita. Of the 3 dips, the corn may have been the best. The rest ok. The shrimp and drink were fine too. One of the best margaritas I've had in a long time. Of course we had chips and guacamole. The chips were fresh and the guacamole was flavorful. By far, the highlight of our meal was the carne asada. Wow! I was here with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. The homemade tortillas were spectacular. I ordered the monthly special taco and it was equally delicious. Had not been here in a while. Someone recommended that the burgers were really good. I tried the chicken sandwich and my mom the burger. Sooooo Good and well seasoned not spicy at all. I recently went here for an outdoor brunch on a Sunday... the food was delicious! This little place is attached to a Hispanic grocery store, so be careful you don't miss it! Considering this was brunch, I ordered a breakfast burrito made with homemade chorizo. It was really good, but the addition of a few salsas really elevated the flavor! My husband ordered chilaquiles rojas with skirt steak and LOVED it! Chilaquiles is usually my jam, but I wanted to try something else on the menu. Next time I'll definitely order the chilaquiles because the bite I had was fantastic. There was only one waitress and we felt awful because she was really trying her best. She kept a great attitude. The steak tacos were delicious, but we wished the meat was chopped instead of strips. It was hard to take bites with the strips. It was chopped it would be one of the best tacos ever. The shrimp tacos were ok. Not a lot of flavor. The Tres Leches dessert was ok. It was to dry and more along the lines of pound cake. I was really disappointed in the service though. We were staying at a local Park n' Fly (the hotel was pretty awful), but having the opportunity to visit Los Buenos Diaz was a real treat. I ordered the shrimp tacos while my husband ordered pescado (I can't remember if it was frito or blackened). Both were fresh, right amount of spice (which we can stand a little), and really delicious. I'm always a little nervous ordering shrimp anywhere inland, but these were tasty and not at all rubbering, which can happen. We finished with tres leches cake--and after we rolled out. The only reason for the 4 stars (and really, if I could 4.5, I would) were the chips and salsa. The chips were cold and had a greasy taste; next time, if we come back this way, I'll just wait for the main event of the tacos.
