Thank you! Finally authentic Mexican tacos in Bensenville. Salsa is good (green & red), handmade tortillas are good, and almost twice as big as regular taco tortilla. I have been there couple times already, and both times food has been perfect. The carnitas tacos are loaded with meat! The place could use a little tidying up or cleaning up-keep, but is small and always busy & have also have gone at the end of the day both times. I will be trying their to-go carnitas by the lb next as seems like a better deal. My new favorite! Finalmente un buen y auténtico lugar/tacos Mexicano en Bensenville. Seguiré yendo a probar de todo!

Very good authentic Mexican food definitely recommend and fast great service! Clean space

My next stop is a very popular Mexican restaurant that recently opened up at a location near my home in Bensenville. The place is called Carnitas Don Alfredo in Bensenville. It is funny to me that this is the first time I am trying Carnitas Don Alfredo. I grew up in Melrose Park and that is where the original location started. I just never got around to trying them out. They also are located in Melrose Park at a very busy congested intersection of Lake Street and 25th. Parking in that area was always a nightmare so I was excited that it came to my area. Hopefully alleviating all of the above annoyances, it would be more enjoyable. I went during the opening week of the restaurant. They were setting up something that looked like it was for a commercial with balloons and what not. I went during lunchtimeand it was extremely busy. There is a large parking lot, but it was packed again and I'll make it easy to park. I had to park at the far end of the lot and walk to the restaurant. The mix of patrons that came in were a 50-50 mix of Spanish-speaking customers and non-Spanish-speaking customers. The workers all spoke Spanish as their first language. That is the only thing that was holding up the line, trying to convey your order to the workers. I was told that this place has the best Carnitas. I did my order as follows: one Carne Asada taco, one Carnitas taco, and one Chicharrón taco. I also asked for a jalapeño pepper on the side. I also ordered a Horchata drink. From when I ordered to when I had my food, it was about 15 minutes. I brought the food to my car and found a nice spot to eat close by. The three tacos were all together in a single container, and the red sauce from the Chicharrón's saturated all the other tacos. I took one bite and I was in heaven. This was the single best bite I have ever had in my experience eating tacos. It was so good. I called my friends and family to tell them to go here and put in my exact order. You will be blown away with how good these are. Fast forward to a couple days later I again was having a craving for these tacos. I wanted them the same way that I had them last time. I explained to the girl behind the counter, but I wanted three tacos in the same container and the red sauce from the Chicharrón's to saturate the tacos. I received my tacos when I opened up the bag. They were all separate with no red sauce, and the tacos were drier than the desert. It was a complete opposite of the experience I had just a few days ago. These tacos were so dry I could barely eat them. The meat was dry and the tortillas were dry. It was not pleasurable. A week has now passed and I wanted to give them another try to see if they could re-create what I experienced. In my first visit this time though I DoorDashed. There was a section where I could put in my notes what I wanted exactly done to my tacos. I meticulously wrote exactly how I wanted my tacos to be. I paid the exorbitant fees for DoorDash to deliver my food. When I received my food again it was completely wrong. The red sauce was not on the tacos. The tacos again were so dry that salsa could not save them. I do not know if there is a language barrier, or just complete laziness, or just lack of care, but I do not know how to convey any more how I'd like my order. They just completely ignore it and give me whatever they want to give me. If you would've asked me about this place after my first experience, I would've said it was an easy 10 out of 10 rating. I have now given this place two subsequent tries, and they have let me down in both instances. Maybe it is because I am a gringo and do not speak Spanish. Maybe my Spanish speaking subscribers will have better luck. Go check this place out for yourself and give it a try when it's good. Because of my last two experiences here I have to give sadly a rating 4.7 out of 10.

The restaurant is medium sized, clean, and spacious, with a wide variety of menu options. They offer brunch, lunch, dinner, desserts, and happy hour which is a nice bonus. I do wish the happy hour details were listed on a menu or somewhere visible. Our server, who was new, let us know that margaritas were half of and only select tacos were $2 for taco Tuesday. We each ordered a margarita, which was deliciously only $6 each. For starters, we shared the "Los Tres Diaz" platter, which includes guacamole, elote and fish ceviche served with chips. Everything was fresh and flavorful and great way for two people to sample a bit of everything. As for the tacos, the happy hours election wasn't as appealing so I opted for the shrimp tacos. Instead, the order came with three good size tacos and although the rice and beans are available as an add-on they don't come with a meal. The highlight was definitely the mango pineapple, pico de gallo, and added so much flavor. Overall, we had a great experience. The food was delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed. I'd definitely come back.

Also had the El Elote and these were not exactly my favorite version. There was a mix of several flavors. My main lunch was the Pescado Frito which I decided could actually be the best fish tacos I've ever had. Would definitely return for this dish. Needed a dessert so tried the Date Pudding. Expecting something resembling a pudding, was a little surprised that the dish was really a cake. Very tasty and definitely needed the ice cream on the side. Overall, was pleased with the offerings. Cost might have been a little steep for a casual lunch, but then again I did order several items.
