    Chicken Flautas

Clean restaurant and friendly service. I really enjoyed the refried beans and shredded chicken flautas! I will be back!

Came to Los Caballeros for a quick bite after walking around DC. Walking in, the worker was very kind, and welcoming. He sat us down right away, and accommodated our big party. Also, the decor around the restaurant was very nice. They had a lot of neon signs and it was very mexican themed with a lot of sayings. The food itself was just okay. I ordered the flautas, but they just weren't the best to me. If you're looking for authentic mexican food, this is not the place, but if you don't really care for authentic mexican taste it's okay for a quick bite. I also ordered a michelada which was pretty tasty, a little spicy but tasty. Overall a nice restaurant with good staff and good decor. If you don't care too much for that authentic mexican taste it's okay, but if you want authentic mexican taste/food i'd definitely look elsewhere. Thank you to the staff for the great service.

I liked the plantains, and the queso wasn't bad! But the chips were super greasy and the steak tacos weren't good. I did get it delivered so maybe better in person!

This is a great local spot that tastes like the Mexican food in LA. I can appreciate how the servers were attentive to what I wanted to order. They recommended margs + HH nachos/quesadillas. I definitely tasted the alcohol in the margs, and I will definitely go back again just for the margs (which means a lot for me as I don't drink that much) Indoors, this place has limited seating. When I went, I could tell most people were DC locals and not tourists. I would definitely go back

I don't know if Los Caballeros qualifies as a hole-in-the-wall establishment, but it certainly exceeded my expectations. I will admit that I am not always a big fan of Mexican food. However, I had a rare craving and Los Cabelleros exceeded my expectations. I am from DC, so I am not an expert on Mexican, but everything here feels authentic. We enjoyed the chips and salsa, quesadilla, queso, steak flautas, and mango drink. I wanted to get the churros so bad, but we were too full. So, we'll get them the next time. The service was friendly and informal. I wouldn't change a thing. Maybe I like Mexican afterall and just hadn't experienced authenticity. Either way, if I ever have a craving or have guests in town that want Mexican, this will be my go to spot.

Mexican street tacos (3) and tacos Al carbon in background with margaritas

Pretty good tacos, the green salsa with the Mexican street tacos was pretty good. I had lower expectations given the tourist area but did not disappoint. My son had the tacos Al carbon and he enjoyed how loaded they were

A group of friends and I came here on a whim Saturday morning and this will absolutely become part of our restaurant rotation in D.C. Food was incredible. We got burritos, chimichangas, chicken tacos and all cleaned our plates. The steak burritos and chimichangas were the highlight because the meat was so so tender and flavorful. The ambiance was amazing too and the staff was so attentive and lovely! The Margaritas and Pina Coladas were so delicious and well priced. The happy hour deals and bottomless brunch are absolutely worth checking out too!

Solid Tex Mex spot on Cap Hill. They have daily specials/deals including all day happy hour on Wednesdays which is when we visited. We were able to get a table for 4 but just barely - the place was packed! Even with the crowd though, service was quick and friendly. The chips and salsa were good as was my chicken chimichanga which also came with rice, beans, lettuce, pico, guac, and sour cream. As noted in their menu, their chimichangas are lightly fried rather than deep fried but it was still good and probably better for me right?

I came here with a group for dinner and we had a great time! The service was friendly and quick. I think they did miss making one of our entrees but they corrected so quickly it was hardly noticeable. We all enjoyed our food and drinks!

Pretty standard Mexican place right next to the Capital and Library of Congress. The inside is bigger than you'd expect with a large dining space in the basement and a main dining space above. Just like anywhere else, they start you off with chips and salsa. The chips were fine and the salsa had a good kick. The menu is really extensive with a long list of tacos, burritos, enchiladas, chimichangas, and more. I got the chimichanga and really liked it. It was a heaping portion that was really good. I was disappointed with the tiny queso appetizer that came in a really small bowl. We were expecting something more fit to share.

Combo plate #5 with chicken enchilada and chile relleno with rice and beans
    Lisa S.

I came here after SCOTUS arguments and a full out hunger after missing lunch. The place had a 4.4 score, so I trusted it. It did not disappoint. I had the combo plate with chicken enchilada and chile relleno. The rice, beans, and main were fantastic. The chips pretty average. (I like them saltier, but that's just me.) The salsa had a good bite. The marg was good. I shall return with an Hispanic friend. (I do not usually bring Hispanic friends to a Hispanic restaurant unless it's really good!) Small place, great (FAST!) service!

However, the waitress was excellent with providing order recommendations and ensuring that we were taken care of. Drinks: I ordered the ranch water which wasn't anything spectacular. Just a simple non-sugary drink to enjoy while dining. I opted out of the fajitas but the rest of my party loved the steak and shrimp fajitas, which were part of the fajitas 2 deal. Plenty to share and I heard that the steak was cooked to perfection and the shrimp was seasoned well. I ordered the taco salad and that dish was PHENOMENAL! There is something to be said about a wet salad which manages to hold some crunchy texture to the taco strips. Also, it was perfectly chopped and all ingredients were mixed together so well. To complete the dish, I ordered a side of rice and chicken. Both were delicious but the chicken portion could use some work. Overall I'm curious to try their breakfast tacos so count me in on returning! They also offer a great happy hour so I recommend stopping by to enjoy their bar or even their cute outdoor seating.

The flavor was a little sweeter than I'd expected for the cuisine, but there were ample fermented beans that showed that proper ingredients were used in the sauce, and the savory element grew on me. I prefer my Szechuan cuisine to be mouth-meltingly spicy, but I could see why this dish appeals to people.
