I wanted this to be a good experience for me and my friends unfortunately the food wasn't good. The salsa was like tomato soup with water added. The margarita barely had alcohol. And when talking to the women who waited our table she offered no sympathy and proceeded to argue that if we didn't like it, it didn't matter. None of us finished our food. And didn't even eat more than five chips. Paid 57 dollars to eat nothing and have a terrible experience. Then to have the women argue that if we didn't like it it's our opinion was awful. If I could give a negative review I would. Wish management was there but they weren't. read more

Lack of flavor in my beef burrito, and chorizo burrito along with smaller portions of rice/beans for the sides was main reason for my 3 stars. The burritos were just the meat wrapped in flour tortilla, with som type sauce on top. Not only did both of my burritos lack flavor but the chorizo tasted a little burnt or old tasting so I just was overall disappointed with the meal. I've eaten here years ago and I remember it being good. Went back with family tonight and holy cow it was amazing! The place is clean. Employees were very friendly. But the food. Oh my! Sooooo good. I got the enchiladas rancho, 2 pork enchiladas with red sauce, with rice and beans. It was so hot! Plates were hot and food was hot. Made it soooo fresh and good. Chicken was dry, like it was over cooked, and both verde and red sauce too spicy, creme sauce was fine but hardly any sauce. Okay, where to begin. One I am from Cedar Falls and I currently live here. But I am a San Diego resident for the past 11 years. This was the worst Mexican food ever. The service was absolutely horrible. I walked in and I was seated. And forgotten about for 20 minutes. The waiters were in the kitchen singing songs to each other. And sitting behind the register on their phones. They sat me on the wall in a booth, the waiters couldn't see me if they tried because the divider is 6' tall. Two waiters walked past me and wouldn't even make eye contact. Finally some joe-schmoe "accidentally" came towards me and I looked at him and he said "oh sorry" and went to leave and I said "NO! I've been ready!" He couldn't have looked more defeated that I caught him. So he takes my order and the entire time he is looking at me like I'm freaking stupid, total dumb dog look in his face the entire time. My michelada was sub par, do you want this gringa to come show your people how to make a good one? I mean I've been to Tijuana enough times that I have seen them made and been taught by one fish taco joint personally. And don't act so surprised that I know good Mexican beer like Sol. I ordered the Tacos Al Carbon (steak), I asked to have the toppings on the side, no big deal I like to make my own taco. So they bring me my food, I got a tablespoon of pico, some lettuce, dollop of guacamole, and a pinch of cheese--FOR FOUR TACOS. I asked for my pico, and then I found out I was charged $1.45 for pico. Then I asked for limes for my tacos because who doesn't eat "street tacos" without limes?! The service sucked so bad that I had to go to the bar to get the limes myself. Neat little place for a Mexican-type lunch. The menu here on Yelp is pretty outdated, so while they do have what Yelp shows, they also have a TON more stuff, so be prepared for a lot more options. In case you're not versed with Mexican lingo, they have an entire section of their menu devoted to defining a lot of the terms used in Mexican cuisine to give you a good idea of what you're ordering. Los Cabos has a neat little arrangement. They have seating outside on a little private deck that overlooks Main Street. It's a crowded little deck since everybody seems to like to sit out there, but it's neat that you can watch the coming and goings of Main Street. The inside has tables and booths to choose from. The inside, however, is extremely dark. Not like, in a "mood lighting" sort of way. In the "none of the lights are on so it's just outdoor sunlight streaming in". It leads to a neat, dark dining experience, but it honestly hurt my eyes to be back out in the sunlight when I was done dining. Maybe a bit more fill light would be preferable indoors. Or just eat outside. I love good Nachos. Like, a lot. That's why I was pretty disappointed by the nachos here. You get a basket full of free nachos when you dine here, but it really wasn't worth eating them. They have virtually no flavor to them, aren't salted, and aren't warm. Pretty disappointing really. I was hoping they'd use different nachos when I ordered their Nachos Grande dish, but that was a silly thing to hope. They use the exact same Nachos - only it's slightly better because they're covered in refried beans, cheese, tomatoes, green peppers, and sour cream. Also, despite my request to the contrary, they also were covered in guacamole - and whole lot of it. I just spooned it off of my meal onto a napkin instead of asking them to remake the entire dish. Would not each the Nachos Grande again. Pretty bland. For the price, portion size was also pretty small. At most restaurants, a $7 dish will leave me feeling overstuffed. Here, I was pleasantly unhungry, but it definitely wasn't the "hunger fixer" I'm used to from most restaurants. As it was just nachos with some cheese and veggies on top, the price seemed a bit high. However, someone in my party had the Cheese and Meat Quesadilla, and it was surprisingly good. A much better showing of what Los Cabos can offer. The cheese and meat blended together nicely and the tortillas it was in was nice and warm. Each slice wasn't cut all the way through which required trying to cut warm tortillas with butterknives (protip: not easy), but it was pretty delicious. Would eat that next time I come. As a random note, they deserve Coke products here (alongside a large selection of beer), but you're only offered one free refill. Service was okay. Most of the staff spoke Spanish to one another, and they had a Spanish dialect as well. However, they did speak English for taking our order and whatnot. Decently friendly staff, and our order was taken quickly, food was brought quickly, and check was taken care of quickly. Absolutely no complaints about the service (aside from getting my special menu request wrong) Would come back. Would definitely not eat the nachos again, but the Cheese and Chicken Quesadilla would have been worth it. Extra tip: For those that like to save money, Los Cabos seems to regularly print a coupon in the Cedar Valley Super Saver newspaper that gets sent to your homes. I haven't been here in a while, but brought a friend and his three-year old son to sit on the patio over lunch. The patio is one of the best outdoor seating on all of Main Street (other best patio: Montage's upper deck outdoor patio). Seriously. I love this patio. It's shaded. It's tucked into the building. I love the blue railing. It's great. It was also perfect for the three-year old to sit and watch big trucks go by (he's obsessed with tractors/dump trucks/fire trucks/etc.). The service was fine, the food comes out a little slow. Don't eat here if you need to get done and put in an hour. For the three of us, it took about an hour and a half to complete the meal from order to paying. The food is fine. It's nothing to rave about, but it's good. I had the pork tacos, which was one of the lunch specials. The pork was a bit dry, and I added some of the salsa from the chips and salsa to it, which solved the problem. I wouldn't eat here unless I could get the outdoor patio seating! But it's totally worth it to sit outside! read more

Amazing food! Good service! The portions are big, but smaller than what I'm used to at a Mexican restaurant.

Service is distracted and forgetful. I've tried specialties as well as simple fare like tacos and they always mess it up. The tacos spill out orange grease, the beans resemble that of dehydrated or canned "heat and serve" quality, leaving them bland and boring. The cooks are obviously incompetent or just negligent. I was served shrimp in a fajita combo that was rotten tasting and foul smelling. Why I didn't slap the cooks for this, I do not know. This restaurant went from good to very poor. read more

I'd been looking forward to hitting up Los Cabos with a friend of mine from town when I came to visit a couple of weeks ago. We were warmly greeted by the manager (owner?) and seated at a table. We made our choices from the expansive menu. A larger party seated by us was just getting their food, so we waited for the server to acknowledge he'd been seated again. After about 15 minutes with nary a glance from anyone working at Los Cabos, we put our coats back on and headed for the door. The same guy who greeted us wished us a pleasant evening...as in, the SAME GUY who'd greeted us 15 minutes prior! I thanked him, and then told him we were leaving because we'd sat there for 15 minutes without anyone coming to the table. I was so disappointed. Los Cabos moved in shortly after I moved to Chicago, and I'd heard great things about the place, but I'm not on Main Street very often on the rare occasion I come to visit, so I hadn't yet been. Service was terrible.ok. I ordered a Torono Salad which was nothing like what the menu described. Chicken was pulled (boiled) not grilled, no seasoning at all and came with a fried tortilla on top. The only reason I ordered this particular salad was because it was described as chicken grilled and no tortilla. I normally would give a restaurant a second chance and order something else but the service was slow, my friend asked for more tortillas for her fajitas and they brought her ONE. We went there when my daughter was two. We didn't come back for a year but returned when she was three. We were seated, and then the waiter came back with the toy that we'd left behind the previous year. That's the kind of place this is. The people there really care about their restaurant and their customers. The food is good and reasonably priced, the waitstaff is efficient and friendly, and the decor is nice without being pretentious. You can't beat the Main Street location. We like to eat on the deck when the weather is nice, but usually wind up eating inside. Is the food authentic? I don't know. I know it is good and a value. read more

True, some dishes are "painfully average" but others will knock your socks off. It's absolutely worth the time finding those dishes (secret hint: chicken milinesa, enchiladas Blanca's, fajita quesadilla, tortilla soup).
