Came for lunch on NYE. Couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Our server was friendly, attentive, and well educated on the menu. The restaurant was clean and orderly. We got garlic twisters as an appetizer and they were delicious. Pillowy soft with a tangy marinara sauce. I ordered the crab Rangoon pizza as my entree. I've dreamt about it everyday since. So flavorful. Their entire menu is comprised of unique pizzas with an accommodation of building your own if you prefer. They are 10" which is the perfect personal size pizza IMO. Mmm mm mmm. One of my favorite spots in Cedar Falls as a new frequent flyer. Although it's a tad expensive, the personal pizzas with a variety of unique toppings make it all worth it. I have been here a couple of times now as well as getting delivery. The establishment itself is amazing! It's very spacious and there is all types of places to sit. They have a great patio area and there is multi level seating inside. It's also very clean which is nice! Service is good as well. Everyone is very friendly. Their pizza is amazing! I love the consistency of the crust. It's like a mixture of thin and thick crust. And there is just the right amount of toppings on it. I also got their cheesy bread the last time I went and it was so good! I will say that their marinara sauce has a very vodka-y taste to it but I like it so I won't complain! With the closure of the Marion store, the inconsistencies of the original store, and the lack of a quality product... this place is doomed to fail. Stopped in for a snack. A stale smell like an old uncleaned bar hits you right away. I didn't care for the pizza. The sauce tastes like it has alcohol in it and was thin. The sausage wasn't great-had large caraway seeds in it. Ate a piece and took the rest home to languish in the fridge. They could easily do better. read more

The pizza is great! Our family shared garlic twists and then three pizzas - bacon cheeseburger, street taco, and chicken bacon ranch. There are a lot of unique pizzas offered on their standard menu or you can have a custom pizza made with whatever you want. They a large selection of drinks. Service was very good. Made a trip to Cedar Falls and wanted to try this new place I've been hearing folks talking about. That place is Urban Pie. It's located in a new part of Downtown behind the main business distrct on State Street, adjacent to Second Street Brewing and down the block from SingleSpeed Brewing, two of the Cedar Valley's most prominent microbreweries. The location is nearly perfect and is easy to get to. Plenty of free street parking is available right outside of the restaurant. Urban Pie has great decor. They decided to go with that industrial look and they nailed it. There is a lot of room to move around in this restaurant. They have a dining area which is near the woodfire oven and counter and a few steps up you'll find a very cool full-service bar. The decor should be pleasing to most anyone from college students up to the gen-x crowd and beyond. This is also a great place to bring your family. The menu is easy to read and understand, it's pretty straightforward. They have a side featuring their signature/specialty pizzas and a second side for their salad and app menu. The pizza comes in personal sized 10" pies and there are a whole lot of choices. Some of the popular include the Meat Mountain, the classic Margherita and the Cheddar Wurst (see menu photo for details). They all looked good so selecting one pie was going to be a struggle. I settled on the Big D's Buffalo Chicken. It was fantastic. The crust was bubbly, chewy and had a crisp edge, just the way a stone-fired pizza should be. The base was a buffalo sauce and the pizza was topped with chicken, blue cheese, a 3-cheese blend and a swirl of ranch dressing on the top. I ate it all up and there were no seconds - it's that good! My Mom was with me today and loves their Margherita. It's quite simple - marinara, fresh mozzerella, fresh basil and topped with balsamic vinegar, which gives it a sweet taste and sets it apart from other Margherita pizzas out there. You can't go wrong - so many great pies to choose from here. Our service was great. The waiter was friendly and did a nice job of telling us about the pies and specials. He was curteous and polite which is the way service needs to be. Great job with that today, Jon! I enjoyed my visit to Urban Pie. They make great personal pizzas and have a great atmosphere. This was my first visit but will definitely not be my last. I will come back here again and am heppy to recommend Urban Pie to everyone! read more

Walked in. Seated self. Greeted immediately. Beers delivered. Pizza ordered. Plates brought. Pizza arrived. Pizza devoured. I'm so full of delicious pizza. I had the Greek Goddess and my husband had the Goat Herder. The Greek had olives and basil and balsamic reduction. The Goat had goat cheese (of course) and a spicy sauce. Ate here for the first time on Sunday morning. Had the smoked buffalo wings for $8.99. Great smoky flavor and not greasy at all. World class wonderful but pricey - you only get six wings. But they were really terrific. Best I have had in many years. Also had the $5.99 breakfast Sunrise pizza. Great crust and very fresh toppings. Tasted great with a $5.00 Bloody Mary. It pains me to write this. Because this has been favorite place for us, love the atmosphere, and beer selections. Recently: meh and hit or miss with quality. But today (again) the pizza was just.... Not good: middle was undercooked and almost soggy. Very thin on toppings. It was too spicy for me (it was not supposed to be spicy!). I brought it home to my daughter who loves spicy. Lovely little hipster pizza place to come to the Cedar Valley area. Definitely reminds me of some of the fancy "hipster casual" restaurants I've been to in larger cities with the industrial atmosphere and unique operation. They definitely still seem to be working out a few kinks in the service department (they're still new!), and the pizza is of a moderate portion for the price, so we'll definitely be back - just not when we're very hungry. THINGS TO KNOW: -This place does take out and sit-down. I'm hoping to see them on the CV Food Runner delivery service soon. -They have some private, 2-hour free parking right in front of the restaurant. There's quite a bit of free parking in the downtown area around Cedar Falls, too. It just might require a bit more walking. -This place services hard liquor, beer, cocktails, pre-designed pizzas, design-your-own pizzas, wings, and salads. They serve Pepsi products from a fountain in to-go cups. All of their pizzas are 10" personal sized pizzas. -Urban Pie is going to be a bit different of an experience compared to other restaurants in the area. You walk in the door and pick up a tiny clipboard. This clipboard allows you to fill out your requested order to insure more accuracy. You pick your own table out and sit down with your clipboards and wait for a server to acknowledge you. Then you'll have a number placed on your table, drinks brought to your table, and the food will be cooked until it's done. Then you'll get your food. PROS: -Pizza was, quite literally, downright amazing. We all did a "build your own" pizza combo, and they all turned out amazing. Thin crust without being super crunchy, all very fresh ingredients, perfectly portioned-out topping amounts, and the sauce was all delicious. Absolutely nobody had any complaints about the pizza itself. -Atmosphere of the restaurant is really cute. Has an industrial-design to it with the metal chairs and brick walls to match. Bathrooms are very clean. Restaurant isn't too spacious and they're packed with tables (that are definitely all full right now because they're so new). CONS: -Service is definitely hit-or-miss right now. We waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged. We were about ready to walk-out when a waitress greeted us. Once we had our "waitress", though, we ended up with decent service. Drinks were refilled in the time we were there, but I think you're supposed to get up and refill your own? We weren't informed. -The portion sizes seem small. We didn't go when we were particularly ravenous, and everyone in our party wanted more food after we were done here. I'm sure the pizza is actually of a *standard* portion size, but at nearly $10, that same cost can get a whole lot more food elsewhere. I'd love to see some cheaper appetizer add-ons or something to help make it a nice, rounded out meal here. Maybe bread or salad options - those are usually cheap and healthy ways to add size to meals. -The metal table chairs seem particularly uncomfortable. Went on a Monday night where they have some daily specials like $6 Mac n cheese pizza and $3 Zima. We sat in the upstairs section near the bar. The bartender was friendly, however he seemed to have quite a large section with the bar, outdoor patio, and the tables in front of the bar, and having to make the drinks as well. If they split up the sections better I think service would have been much better. But anyway, ordered the Mac n cheese and the veggie one. Overall the taste was pretty solid on the Mac n cheese. Was expecting some Kraft but got something else much better. It also came with bacon on it. Overall spent about 45 minutes there and when we got the pizzas we just asked to pay out and receive boxes. One curious note was the server/food runner initially ran our pizzas to the wrong table but eventually we got them. Would come back, but hopefully sit somewhere else. I won't say this is the best pie I've ever had, but it for sure, without a doubt, seriously and wonderously the best pie in the Cedar Valley. Went for the first time tonight. Downtown CF was pretty crowded and parking was tough, but once I got through the door, I was VERY pleasantly surprised at what I found. Great industrial decor. Plentiful staff. Varied drink list, patio seating, nice bar, and clean everything. Immediate and pleasant service. The pizza selection was also plentiful and it was very easy to find the combination I wanted. On the wall, it says, "fast fired," which we commented on and no sooner had we done that when the pies arrived. Absolutely delicious. Thin crust, great flavors and combinations, and again, pleasant service. Went here for the first time because we heard so many good things about it. Was disappointed to say the least. We sat for a good while before any server took care of us (they were not busy). Ordered drinks and the soda was so watered down it wasn't even soda at that point. Garlic bread was fine, had a weird taste though. The pizza came and was very disappointing. Paper thin and tasted like a dirty oven. Our server was rushing us to talk and didn't listen so brought out the incorrect tickets but we paid and left. Will NOT be going back read more

While the wait staff did his job, he lacks personality and didn't really seem to care that we were his customer. We love the patio in summer and the thin crust pizza all year round. The food always comes out fast and they have a nice selection of beers with a few on special most nights. OK.. this was a neat idea for CF and located excellently in a new modern space just a block off of Main Street - should be all the makings for success - but the overall execution is pretty underwhelming, in my opinion. The atmosphere inside is quite stale and bleak with a cafeteria sort of feel. And while I do agree that the pizza is good, it is well overpriced for what it actually is. The only things I really find enjoyable about this place are the patio area, which, of course, is only open during the warm season, and the bottomless mimosa special that is offered on Sunday's. read more
