When in this area, I was given the names of three restaurants on the Port Isabel side of the causeway/bridge. Los Cabos was one of them, along with Isabel and Manuel. They are not really a trifecta, though. Isabel and Manuel are breakfast and lunch places, while Los Cabos stays open until the early evening and one can have dinner there. Los Cabos is right on the main drag, just a little ways inland from tacky but fun(ny) Pirate's Cove. You might immediately like the name, thinking of places like Cabo San Lucas, to which I've never been but would like to see. However, I'm going to go with 3 stars on this one, though I would have wanted to give them 4 stars. I'm more okay with doing this because Manuel's is no longer operating, leaving Isabel's and Los Cabos as the "go to" Mexican eateries. Los Cabos has parking right in front in its off-street lot. The interior is spacious and clean. They had quite a bit of selection on the menu, of which there were several based on what you wanted to eat and when. I had a combination platter somewhere in mid-afternoon when it was not crowded. I liked most of what I ate and the portions were nicely sized. My only issue was with the cheese on some of the items. Who doesn't like cheese on their pastas, enchiladas, or salads, for example? Based on appearances, it looked good - like a cross between shredded cheese and crumbles. However, I can't say I like the way it tasted and would have preferred to have the items on my platter without it. But that's an easy fix. The service was not that upbeat. It was a little slow and they weren't that friendly - I'm talking both the person who did the hosting and the server. They need to ratchet that up a little bit, since the other places in Port Isabel have, or had, the art of customer service dialed. There is a little service charge for the use of plastic, but it's minor. (At least they accept credit cards.) The prices at Los Cabos are fair.

The server was very nice and helpful; didn't intrude on us or too pushy. The food was alright, not the best. The carne tasted like cheap store bought meat. The environment was horrible. Every other minute there would be a spider on our table and there were cockroaches on the walls (picture provided)

Service is awesome and so is the food. It is around a 40 minute drive from my husband and I but definitely worth the drive. The atmosphere is great and super friendly and very affordable. Will definitely be coming again.

This is something like our 6th time coming here. First since last year (2021). Since we last been here the prices rose just a little like .75 cents a item and still very affordable and worth the prices, which aren't very high for anything you get here. The breakfast tacos are massive still. Wait staff excellent. Drinks are very good tasting. They've updated the inside somewhat and looks more appealing, but I judge a place by the food, not the paint on the walls. Anyway you can't go wrong coming here. Excellent.. 10 STARS

Just as good as the famous Manny's for breakfast plates - we tried the migas and the taco loco and both were terrific. No crowds, no waiting and everything made to order, Friendly staff and two breakfast specials every day for under $5. Give it a try. We plan to come back often.

Very good Mexican food, I would agree that it's as good or better than Manuel's which is located behind it. Plus it's less cramped, and little to no wait. I had the Mexican combo in chicken (pictured). Wife had the Texas combo in beef. I will be back.

Great food, great service, and one of the best breakfast tacos I have ever put in my mouth!

5 stars (for the island -- probably 4.5 anywhere else)…read more Just very solid, affordable seafood. As you walk in, the front is sort of a grocery store -- coolers and frozen food, shelves with salsas and sauces, drink coolers you can grab from, and a fresh fish cooler. So if you want to come in and buy fresh fish, or pick shrimp or fish out of the cooler to have them cook for you, that's the kind of thing they're doing. The seating area is large with big tables, so there was plenty of room even though it was pretty full at lunch. We came in with a family of six and were seated right away. It did start getting busy as we were leaving, with some people waiting for a table, so you probably want to come early. Grilled fish, shrimp & oyster platter, $15.50 -- everything on the plate was good. And I want to highlight the coleslaw -- super good, some of the better coleslaw you're going to have. Crab fingers (pound order), ~$31 -- very good, and probably one of the better ways to eat crab since they're already shelled for you. You're just picking and eating. One note: this is a no-frills place. You're not getting fancy silverware or fine dining -- everything's served on paper plates with plastic utensils and paper napkins. It's just a place you go to eat fresh food and not worry about the rest. In general, nothing our party had was bad. Everything was pretty solid and very affordable. Definitely a place to stop in for lunch and give a try -- bring the whole family, because there's something on the menu for everybody. Would highly recommend, and would return.

The ambiance and vibe inside was relaxing and comforting. It's not a big place, it only has a few tables. We ordered iced tea to drink and got some chips and salsa as appetizers. The salsa tasted homemade and not too spicy, which is good. As main entrees, I ordered the quesadillas. The menu has them as either shrimp or chicken quesadillas, but the owner was gracious enough to make them just with cheese, since I don't eat meat. They came with a side of salad and rice. My husband got the fried shrimp and it came with fries and coleslaw. Both dishes tasted fresh and tasty. It is advertised as a seafood restaurant, but their breakfast menu is more extensive, so we might come back to try their breakfast items. Everything we ordered was good, I'm glad we gave this new restaurant a try. The original location was in Port Isabel and have since moved to Los Fresnos. I'm glad they did. We will certainly be back again and recommend it to friends and family.

There's a long pier you can walk out on to fish, and we usually catch red drum, hardhead catfish, and sometimes even crabs. Most of the time the fish are too small to keep, so we throw them back, but it's still such a relaxing and enjoyable experience. It's less about what we catch and more about spending time together. I really appreciate the setup. There are picnic tables and chairs where you can sit and hang out, which makes it easy to spend a few hours comfortably. There's a convenience store stocked with fishing gear, a concession stand (which I still need to try!), and even a fried chicken spot nearby if you want something quick to eat. Plus public restrooms, which is always a huge win when you're out all day. They also have a great restaurant and bar, so whether you're there to fish, grab a bite, or just relax by the water, you really have everything in one place. I've been here more times than I can count, and it's always part of our plans when we head to SPI. It's just the best place to go. Keep in mind that you have to pay for every fishing pole that you bring in. You also have to pay to be a spectator.

This restaurant has a large menu with daily specials. We tried the Southwest Chicken Sandwich with waffle fries because it was a daily special. It's good, but I prefer the fried Chicken Breast Samich. The chicken and ham on the Southwest Chicken Sandwich is skewered with long wooden picks which I learned was to keep the food in place. The large slice of chicken with the ham kept sliding off the bun. It does have a nice salsa dressing. The Chicken Breast Samich includes crispy fresh lettuce, a large slice of tomato and pickles on a toasted bun with waffle fries. Very tasty. My dining companion had the fried red fish with waffle fries. This is a large portion of friend red fish. Also very tasty. We had A a very friendly waiter both times that we were there. This is a very large restaurant with a lot of people coming and going. Live music is provided every day from 3pm to 6pm. A nice selection of cocktails. I recommend the Key Lime Pina colada. I was very pleased to see that the restaurant allowed a man to sit in the outside area with his dog. It was a cold windy day and I worried about them sitting in that wind. The manager allowed the man and his k9 companion to dine inside the restaurant. They sat on the north side away from most diners, but I congratulate the manager for allowing a customer to be comfortable while enjoying the food. His dogfriend was a charmer. It gave me a smile and I will always remember that the restaurant treated a customer with respect.
