We walked in and were seated immediately. Our waiter, Sam, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We ordered the chicken strips and fries, cheese enchiladas meal, shrimp taquitos, and chicken flautas. Our appetizer was the queso. We also ordered 2 Mexican cokes, 1 Mexican Coke lite, and 1 Diet Pepsi. Every meal was wonderful, delicious, and as ordered. The food was not good. We attempted to place our order we were seated not far from where the DJ was so it was hard for the server to hear our order and we had a hard time also understanding the server however, the server was pleasant and nice when we came into the establishment, the hostess was not very friendly. I almost felt the impression that we shouldn't have patronized their establishment. However, I am a person of color and it looks like they probably don't get visitors like me very often the DJ do you play great music when I got ready to leave we did not finish our food. I've had better text mix and the next day when I usually have my leftovers They're pretty good however, the food smelled sour the next day in the morning so we threw everything in the trash I'm not sure if the seafood was old because we ordered food that had shrimp in it. However, it did not taste great in. It smells like it had a short shelf life When we opened the box the next day to attempt to eat it. However, the camera lady she was very sweet and she took pictures of us in our family if I had to choose whether or not to come back to this restaurant or eat at Whataburger, I would go eat at Whataburger. read more

We were quickly seated when arriving on a Sunday evening. Staff brought chips and salsa (a bit hot for my palate). We ordered beverages and placed our food order as well. Half of the food was cold (after waiting 20 - 25 minutes). Serving size is large! Mariachi group can in while we were waiting for our meal. We came when there was only one other table in the restaurant so the service was quick. When you are seated you're greeted with warm homemade salsa which was one of my favorite parts of the whole meal. We ordered chips and queso to start (the menu says something about it being the best queso you've ever had) it was straight velveeta but if that's you're thing then you'd probably love it. We got the 3 meat fajitas to share for 2. It was a good amount of protein but they only gave 3 corn tortillas with the original order. We were able to request for more and they came out piping hot. We also got 2 piña coladas which were some of the best we've had is S. Padre so far. Would I rave about this place, no. But the bill with all of that was about $100. I'd say we left full and satisfied so if I was visiting here again and craving Mexican I'd probably come back. read more

We had to wait for quite a while before anyone acknowledged we were waiting to be seated. Eventually, we were seated. The waiter struggled to understand our questions regarding some items on the menu. We received the most bland margaritas. We had to order an extra shot to even make them drinkable. All of the food was delicious. They definitely need to address service issues. read more

The food here is really good. The servers are a bit off though. I ordered a cup of soup and flautas. They both came out at the same time which is odd but ok. But after about 5 minutes they brought out the chips and salsa. Why didn't I get them first? They also screwed up my margarita. Wanted it without salt but got it with it. If you are looking for service that doesn't meet bare minimum standards, this is the place to come to. I entered this restaurant waiting to be seated for 5+ minutes all the while the servers were making eye contact with me and just walking away. I finally tracked a server down and asked to be seated. He took me to a dirty table even though there were plenty of clean tables and wiped the table off with just a paper napkin and walked away. I hope you bring your own drink because getting drinks is a feat on its own. Ordered water 2x and server (first time when I asked for vegetarian recommendation and 2nd time when placing an order) never got the water until I tracked the manager down. She looks at the order and tells my that I didn't place an order of water and I told her that I did and in fact reminded the server 2nd time when placing food order. This restaurant has vegetarian menu so there were some good options and I ordered chalupa and fajitas. The fajita came out without the tortillas despite reminding the server multiple times about corn tortillas and the toppings that was said on the menu (tortillas, shredded cheese, lettuce and sour cream) never came. The chalupa was good and I don't believe he forgot anything. Also, I hope you enjoy eating with your hands because there were no silverware. The server never came back to the table to ask if I needed anything and in fact had to track another server down for bill after meal. Was waiting 15+ minutes and I can see the server serving my table just walking around doing nothing. So I finally paid and left. It was one of the worst experience I had after a long drive from San Antonio. If you prefer not to have drinks served when asked, half a meal missing from what you ordered, eating with hands and waiting a long time and repeatedly reminding the server of what is needed, this is the place for your. We were seated immediately and the service was decent for not a busy night. The food was definitely not decent. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and the 'best' queso around. The shrimp was not fresh, and I only had a couple of spoonfuls.the queso was yellow nacho cheese. The chips that they use are not authentic. They feel as if they were cooked in really old oil. My kids ordered the chicken strips, which were also cooked in the old oil. The French fries were also 'no bueno.' We left almost all our food and did not take any home. We received our drinks and had to ask twice for a water cup for my child. The food order was taken and it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. It was great! Our waitress was lovely, the food was delicious, not crazy busy and therefore oddly peaceful (we went during the week). I agree with other reviews that one of their shirts about "inspecting" people's bodies is... an interesting choice. But maybe I shouldn't be surprised in SPI. This place is straight up ass. The seating process was odd, apparently you gotta know to sign in on a list to be seated. Service would have received a grade of "D". Terrible terrible service. The MANAGER, named Irene, made my friend cry calling her out to put her service dog on the floor instead of on her lap. Her dog is certified and has an ID card to prove. She needs the dog next to her. Its law you cannot separate the servicedog from the owner. Then asked for a second complimentary salsa since its a table of 4 sharing one salsa and she then said she will charge us for it. We showed her the law that stated she can't separate she persisted to say no. So we asked her for her name and she lied to our faces and said, "my name is Red". So we left and asked a server what their managers name is and he told us. Worst service ever. She should be a server and practice customer service again and NOT managing at all. Horrible. read more

While in South Padre island I was told about Senor Donkey. Cute little place with nice staff. Their menu is small and straight to the point. I ordered the fajita burrito which was very large. It was a good burrito, not over the top but not horrible. For the price it's a good value. If you are in South Padre and want a cheaper burrito this is your place. read more
