My kiddo has been coming here for the last 3 years for summer camp and special family events. The staff are very professional and friendly. We've had the opportunity to participate in STEM, archery, rock wall climbing, planetarium, nerf blasters, futsal / soccer, basketball, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few other fun activities. We've had such a wonderful experience with the YMCA swim and summer programs! The staff is incredibly kind, patient, and supportive. They create such a fun and safe environment for the kids. The swim instructors do a a terrific job building confidence in the water while making lessons enjoyable and engaging. Jax is amazing and plays an integral part in the swim program. Jax Cole who is the main manager of swimming gives horrible customer service gives an attitude when asking a question regarding the stage child is in. I have 3 children all together in swimming classes. My daughter who is in stage 2 the instructor on her last class stated that she is moving up to stage 2 and I got confused because they stated they had her in the system has stage 1 when I went to go ask Jax right away she gave me an attitude and expects me not to get upset with her attitude ? You can't expect to give attitude and horrible customer service she's retaliating because when prior in her emails she's given me attitude and I went above her head to her supervisor. Her job is to be a manager whether you like someone or not I've been coming to swimming classes with YMCA over a year when asking her about what stage did my daughter move up to she says okay it's what they said and what do you want me to do about it ? Even my son heard her say that to me so it's already more than one person who heard her talk to me with attitude. I just find it unprofessional and unethical and horrible customer service don't you want people to continue enrolling into swimming classes? Lastly if your going to ask for donations for myself and my children on your personal fb shouldn't I be granted some classes ? I find this unethical you didn't have to put my name or my children's name you could have kept it confidential. This violates 52 U.S.C. §§ 30122 and 30109. I hope people will stop discriminating against dark skinned people and also just because I am tall and big doesn't mean I will do something to anyone I can see were it can be intimidating but that's discrimination. I am very disappointed in the administrative side of the YMCA. To start with I attempted to enroll my son into the los Cerritos branch multiple times unfortunately due to my work schedule I was unable to do it but only in the mornings(7:30 am). I was rudely turned away a number of times being that their branch business hours are from 6 am to 6 pm you would think they would be a little more accommodating. I finally was able to make it to our afternoon appointment and I enrolled my son. We were able to over come this nuisance and incompetence. Here we are in June at the end of the school year and I received a request for payment.Assuming since there's only four working days left I would think that they would prorate the fees but instead they just discounted it 50% which in my opinion is unfair being that there's not two weeks of school.I let Haydee the original person that has rudely turned me away before know that I can't afford that and I will have to stop use of services Her response was the balance must be paid because I didn't Give two weeks notice. I honestly was under the in assumption that the rest of this month would be prorated or complementary I was never told or reminded of this two week notice. Or that they were going to prorate the month of June.Next year my sons going to six grade And before I can enroll him back into the YMCA for next year I'm going to have to pay a $150 charge Even though I am no longer using their servicesI really think that the Cerritos Ymca should change their policies would least be more accommodating and communicate better than what they have communicated in the past. read more

The second YMCA that has entered my entire existence is... quiet. There were about 2 cars parked in the parking lot by the front and about 0 people there. There might be more to the building in itself but from what I observed, it's not much to look at. There are no separate women or mens locker rooms. No such thing. There are lockers by the door but mind, don't be a fool and bring your entire gym bag like I do. You may end up having to pull out what's inside to put them inside the locker to have the bag just fit! (If middle school lockers are reminiscent, just think... 3/4s the height, 1/2 the width). I definitely wouldn't trust an unlocked locker though, since it's right in the open hallway. The gym provides what I need, so I have no serious qualms. The weight machines are a bit out-dated, no visible water fountains nearby (though there is a paying beverage machine), the cardio machines are in good condition, and the space is quite large - though not large enough if it were regularly crowded. The multi-purpose rooms that they have look nice and I have little doubt that they're able to entertain their patrons when they come by. Overall, a nice though slightly feelingly-seemingly outdated YMCA. read more

I was really hesitant about sending my daughter here because she has only ever been to one place for the Summer since she was 2. She'll be 8 at the end of the month and always has a story to tell me when she comes home. Some of the staff do not explain things very well and we've had discussions about this on several occasions. I explained how it was our first time here and when we registered her were not informed of the "Swim Days". They apparently go by group numbers which can change from week to week depending on the number of enrollees. Also would've been helpful to know. A list of weekly events is at the front desk. They don't actually pass them out to the children. This is hard I explained to them since different people drop off and pick up my daughter. It would be easier if they gave it to them to put in their backpacks. They normally have sandwiches and fruit with a drink for snack which was confusing when my daughter told me they gave her lunch. I called to confirm and was told by the woman on the phone that snack was served at the same time as lunch. I said, "Do you know how ridiculous that is?" I had my parents talk to someone who knew what they were talking about. Lunch is around noon, and snack about 3:30. Okay, that makes sense. They also get cereal, fruit, or muffins for an AM snack around 9:15. There are some other things I could nitpick about but shall refrain. It's about $165 a week and the prices will probably go up next year as they did this year from last. Next year I might consider the City of Norwalk's Park and Rec. We'll see. P.S. They do not have online payments. So if you don't take a check, you have to call in every week with a credit card. They also do not have a pool onsite so the kids normally travel to one. read more

I enjoyed my daughter spending time here for their summer program. Various activities and field trips throughout the summer. For me, the icing on the cake was the one week of swimming and water safety. My daughters confidence board and i'm thankful! Will do again next year! read more

Lady in charge Mary Jane, was very rude, came to turn in a Camp application for my son and she refused to take it since she hadnt heard from my son's therapist because he was the one funding my son's trip. She told me she couldn't take it in a rude manner and that i had to leave a down payment. She didn't even sit and offer any other payment methods that could help me like financial aid, i know they have it. I explained that i would call the therapist and have him call her back and she told me he was busy, (now unless she's a fb stalker then she would know he was busy). I called him and sure enough he picked up and told me to leave my application. If you ever come across MARY JANE, tell her 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!' (Saracastic/double meaning) read more
