Love love love this facility especially during COVID-19 super great staff children got plenty of outdoors play and activities for summer camp. During online school it was a great, safe, sanitized environment for all the children to complete virtual Learning. I highly recommend this YMCA for all your child care needs. A true Godsend during this time in our lives. None of my children were sick with COVID-EVER!!!

I've been a member of the Y for about a month now and so far I'm definitely a fan. The hours are great for me, I can work out at 6 am before work, or hit them up after work. The fitness center is decently sized with a nice variety of equipment. They have 4 elliptical, 4 treadmills, 2 stair climbers, some recumbent bikes, and this weird elliptical/climber hybrid that darn near killed me last week. Whew. With membership you get 3 free personal sessions with a trainer. This was great because I was able to learn how to use all of the weight equipment. I have an awesome routine now and am shedding pounds left and right. The pool is outdoors but heated and usually not crowded. Plenty of room for lap swimming. I still haven't tried any classes since I'm intimidated by stuff like that, but so far joining this Y is one of the best decisions I've made in quite some time.

Gym is smaller but still useful

I've been coming to this ymca since 1984 and this ymca is changed a lot but it is nice spot to work out and get your swim in. The machine are in good shape to use this location is in north Long Beach. When you use lockers bring a lock.

Has a small gym and tiny locker room. It's an okay facility... but truthfully it's more of a daycare for young children.

Ask the Community - Fairfield Family YMCA

Is the gym free to the public? If not, how much would it be a month to use? And what kinds of equipment do you have?

Hi Sunny! Thank you for your inquiry! The gym is included in a monthly membership. The price for an adult who is not a student is $48 per month, and the price for seniors is $41 per month. We also offer Financial Assistance. Our Gym has weights,…

This review is long overdue but I owe it to the incredible team at Crunch to praise them. I have…read morebeen very inconsistent with working out in my life but decided it was time to get back into it. I was a member of this Crunch gym about 5 years ago and it was just another gym. I didn't enjoy going and there was definitely nothing keeping me there and I stopped going. I decided earlier this year to give Crunch gym another chance because it's close to my home. I nervously walked in and the manager Trent was at the front. He is such a personable guy. After talking with me a few minutes about a personal training package I thought "why not?". I've never been able to achieve my goals on my own so I figured this was either gonna work or it wasn't. He set me up to meet with Ryan, the manager of the personal training dept. Ryan asked a lot of questions that you'd expect from someone you are about to embark on a personal training routine with. I could tell that Ryan really cared about me and my goals and wanted me to feel comfortable in the gym environment. We talked about the training plan that he would be putting in place for me. He's such a likeable guy and made me feel good about my decision to hire a trainer. Ryan is an amazing asset to this gym! Ryan set me up with trainer Richard, saying he'd be a good fit to reach my goals. Richard is incredible. He is made me feel totally at ease the minute I met him. Since I didn't work out that often, I was nervous that I'd be embarrassed about not knowing how to work the equipment or follow his instructions. But I never felt awkward or weird and Richard is a true professional. So good at his job yet kinda makes you feel like you're talking with a good friend. Probably the biggest surprise is the change in how I interact at the gym. I would usually come in, head down, headphones in, not make eye contact with anybody, do my workout and go home. But the people at Crunch are really wonderful! The front desk always says hello and I'm always greeted by name by Trent, Ryan and Richard. There's at least one, if not all 3, there most of the time. And the rest of the staff is great too! It sounds completely corny but they really make me feel welcome and like they are happy to see me. They talk to me like they've known me awhile, and even sometimes ask my opinion and feedback if I happen to be nearby and they are talking with another client. My only complaints (and reason for only 4 stars) is that several members seem to not know how to respectfully treat the weights and equipment, and sometimes drop the weights heavily to the ground, while others do not sanitize the equipment after they use it. They could also use some updated/ newer equipment.

If possible I'd give 0 stars. I had previously left a review years ago cause cancellation was a…read moremission. Anyways this gym being less than 5 mins away from me I decided to give it a shot. Shortly after I was going through medical issues so stopped going and let my account go delinquent. I received numerous emails from Patty GM from crunch. Which I have attached as proof. Anyways called and spoke to Trent (it wasn't easy getting ahold of him and he's apparently the only one that can help) explained my situation also mentioned the numerous emails I've received. He said those were automated and I still had to cover the past due although I haven't been going and my membership has been on pause. Again I explained the emails say to make a one time month payment and everything would be waived. Seems like he's not going to honor it. He was quick to get me off the phone although I was email him the screenshots. This specific gym has always been a pain. It's dirty and everything is always broken. HONOR THE AUTOMATED EMAILS OR CHANGE THEM cause this can easily turn into a lawsuit. Now I have to wait for him to call me back to which by the sounds of it he wasn't going to honor the email. Dishonest gym and management. ***Also the comment from Scarlet below is an automated message. There's zero way to private message them or the business. And Trent responded. I requested to cancel my membership and he didn't want to. Stated he'd rule this up to the district manager. DONT SIGN UP HERE

It's a little intimidating with the young crowd. I'm not totally out of shape but I definitely have a bit of a road to travel back to being fit. I was dragging to get myself to the gym today. So, I went to the drink cooler to look for a pre-workout and ChatGPT recommended something called GHOST. I met with Javier who went out of his way to ask what was my reason for trying this drink and I let him know. He made a better suggestion with an orange flavored drink called WAR. I definitely felt like I had a better lifting session than I had in a while and according to my watch, I burned about 700 active calories doing legs, shoulders, and cardio. This inspired me to bug Javier again at the front desk, who helped me find the last powder form of WAR. I purchased it at 20% discount. I like good stuff than a responsive and I thank you for having him on your team. Thank you. Side note, the trainer, Brandon, who looks like Jon Snow from Game of Thrones, was helpful on the floor as well. When I hit a plateau, I look forward to purchasing some training sessions with him as he looks like he knows his stuff and has a friendly demeanor. Thanks, Jed Eye

After 14 years as a member, I expected long-overdue updates to replace broken, rusty equipment and properly fix the facility. The gym was closed for three weeks, and many of us returned expecting real improvements. Instead, we were shocked to find almost nothing had changed. Equipment is still broken and rusted, and the upstairs group exercise studio is filled with hair and dust, clearly not deep-cleaned. This is not just disappointing, it's a safety concern. Members are forced to compete for basic equipment. Classes with 15-25 people have fewer than 10 mats, many of which are damaged, torn, and unhygienic. I have reached out to corporate and management, but it feels like these concerns are being ignored. This facility is not being maintained to a safe or acceptable standard. The only reason many of us continue to come is because of the group exercise instructors, who are dedicated, professional, and truly care. Without them, I and likely many others would have left long ago. Immediate action is needed to address the safety, cleanliness, and equipment issues at this location. What this Lakewood 24Hrs Fitness gym seriously need is to replace the 14yrs old equipment in the GX Studio with All new equipments for the Bodypump class like every other 24Hrs Fitness gym. We don't need new floors, Turf Zone Reformer Studios & Recovery Room that no one will use!!! And please don't jammed all the cycle bikes in the GX Studio, it's obvious management doesn't care how their gym members have scramble and argue (yes Ived seen this happening many times) when we have back-to-back Bodypump class and Cycle class. Each bikes weights at least 200lbs and it's just a matter of time someone will get hurt as we rush to set the bikes away for another class. This is a huge gym make another room (like it used to) and invest to make it a proper and professional Cycle class experience. I'm sure the class will be packed with enthusiastic Cycle class members. See attached photos taken today Mar 28, 2026 as well as a screen shot of a review i did in 2025 with the same comments.
