Got breakfast to go for the fam from here and it wasn't too bad. If you're looking for a decent spot with inexpensive pricing this is it. We ordered a few breakfast burritos, some migas , and tacos and overall it was good. The burritos and tacos are a good size and was given a good portion of migas. The flavors are authentic and makes for good texmex comfort food. I would've given a four but we had egg some eggshells in the tacos. It didn't make a difference with my opinion of the food. I come here for lunch often and the staff is always extremely attentive. They also always pick up the phone. The wait has never been anything crazy at all. I have a 30 min break and am in an out within 5 minutes if I have ordered a to go order. Finally the prices are ridiculous for how delicious the food is! Ordered nachos and shrimp cocktail. It was late on Sunday and they still delivered. (When I say late, it was around 12:30) I loved the beef on the nachos. Very tender. The nachos were a a little plain but not lacking flavor. I thought it would come with sour cream guacamole and jalapeños, but it was just cheese, beef and beans. Still very delicious. We had sour cream at home. The shrimp cocktail was fresh, cooked very well and tasty. I just wish they would have sent it with tortilla chips or crackers since there is a lot of "cocktail" sauce. I've been to this place a few times but, this has to have been my worst experience here thus far. i remember the food being pretty flavorful and quite satisfying, but today it really wasn't. i ordered the tampiqueña & the nachos regulares, and the best thing about this was the enchilada. the steak was cooked far too long (even after the waitress told them to cook it medium rare-medium), the nacho chips were stale, the beans & rice have no flavor, and my food was cold. i don't know if it was because i ordered it to-go & i waited too long to eat it (unlikely, but probable, i didn't eat my food for about 10 minutes as i was making my way back home). if you are planning on coming here, just order the enchiladas... it's your safest bet. the overall physical experience was quite normal, i didn't feel alienated or anything of that sort, there was music playing and the store is quite clean. i just wish the food was up to par -- i've been to taco trucks with better flavor. maybe one day i will come again and give this place another try! read more

I had a taste for Caldo on this cold dreary day, and this restaurant definitely hit the spot! It is in a strip center on the corner of West/ Eldridge. They're caldo de res had an excellent flavor, and plenty of veggies! They have several different salsas- but initially they only bring out one with the chips. So be sure to ask for additional salsa if you're into it! The Mexican rice had a great flavor as well. The other cool thing is that they serve pasole and caldo EVERYDAY- unlike most Mexican restaurants that only serve it on the weekends. One star taken away because the overall ambiance of the restaurant is kind of lacking. It's pretty "drab" inside. We had just finished at a nearby flea market, and we decided to give a small local business a shot. We walked in, and it was quiet, and smelled clean. Then, we received chips and salsa, and they were good. They were definitely the highlight of the meal. After that, things went downhill very quickly. We received our food, and already, one person didn't receive their meal. We received 2 fajita burritos, if you can call them that. It was salad wrapped in a tortilla. We also received posole. It was at least a couple days old, and not fresh. The liquid was dark red, with a couple pieces of homone. The meat was pure fat. Next we ordered 2 orders of charro beans. We had only received one at first, and it was terrible! It was lukewarm, and the beans were old and crumbled. Their were pieces of sausage and it was disgusting. Then we asked for our other charro beans, and they brought them out. The spoon in the beans had been mixed with posole, and we think they poured beans in the posole. We also received a creamy avocado salsa, which was old as well! It had a sweet rotten flavor and made everyone gag! After we left, my friend found the nearest bathroom and threw up everything he ate. I came here one Saturday afternoon to hopefully find some good fajitas and ordered the tacos al carbon with grilled jalapenos. They had no other customers in the restaurant and it was lunch time. This was my first red flag. No liquor license so no Rita. Fajitas were old, dry, flavorless and no Bueno. Tortillas not home made and heated in microwave I'm sure. Chips were hard and stale. Salsa is served cold and could use some salt. I wouldn't consider this authentic Mexican food considering they don't even have homemade tortillas. So, unfortunately they weren't worth me trying anything else and I don't see me coming back. read more
