First of all, there's a full bar, which is very good and the selection of alcohol is quite good. The service is wonderful. The waitress was prompt, courteous, and brought precisely what we asked for and the quality of food is simply wonderful. I had a ceviche which was quite good as are the salsa chips, tortillas, etc. The ambience is typically Mexican restaurant nothing in ordinately or Nate but quite functional very Roomy and very nice. Has been a while since our last visit but we decided to come over today for breakfast. The cafe de olla was delicious. I liked how it came unsweetened so you can customized it to your liking. I thought it was delicious as is and didn't need to add any sweetener. The two salsas were red and avocado, both delicious. Hubby had the migas and I had the chilaquiles. Even though it was a lot of food, we manage to eat everything and rolled ourselves out of the restaurant. Needless to say, we didn't have room dessert. The champurrado was creamy and warm. It was served in a cute (chipped) mug. The chips were thick but not very fresh. I got the lunch plate with (2) enchiladas (cheese or ground beef) and (1) ground beef crispy taco (topped with shredded cheese). The plate comes with rice (corn and peas), refried beans (melted cheese under), and chopped salad (lettuce, tomatoes, red cabbage). The beef is lightly seasoned. Everything is melted but only slightly warm. The interior is pretty cute (Western-style with Mexican touches). Maria, our waitress, was really attentive. She brought green and red salsas with the chips. The salsas are very spicy. My Mom asked if by chance they have a less spicy one. She got for us a warm tomato salsa that was very mild. My Dad didn't like his meat taco. Plus it only had one corn tortilla, making the taco hard to hold. My Mom had a grilled chicken fajita salad. She seemed to enjoy it. I ordered cheese enchiladas with tomatillo sauce and easy on the cheese. They were brought with too much cheese. Didn't realize that the 'Specialty Breakfast Plates' were marked with an *. The potatoes were cold. Ate one. Could taste the grease from the flat griddle in the steak and not in a good way. We happened upon this place this past weekend as we were driving back home to Katy, and we're so happy we ending up stopping here. My wife is very particular with certain foods and the caldo de pollo is one exact dish she only eats when I make it at home. But, she really wanted some so we ordered it anyway and with the protein on the side. To our positive amazement, they actually serve it with chicken breast, which no one ever does. So, that's an accomplishment in and of itself! I had the menudo which was really, really good and didn't taste greasy at all like most places think everyone wants it to taste like. lol The flour tortillas that came with my side place of barbacoa was also very tasty, but the barbacoa seems to need a little more salt? Which, I hate adding after its already been cooked so I just ate it as is. All in all, great food and great service! read more

I've been driving by this place regularly for over a year, and decided to stop in this morning for breakfast tacos. I'm glad I did! They were not crowded at all - it was a little after 8 AM. I ordered four breakfast tacos - two with bacon and two with sausage, all four having flour tortillas, refried beans, eggs, and cheese. They were made fresh while I waited - and were delicious! DO NOT COME HERE!!!! I wanted to give this place a zero star but since that is not possible I give it a one star. This spot was the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life. Terrible customer service & terrible food. I don't know what type of salsa and guac they got but it was disgusting. The chicken on the corn chicken tacos was dry & lacked any flavor. The enchiladas were dry & crusted over like they just pulled out from the microwave. The beans were cold. Everything here is a 0 star, Not fresh at all! To make matters worse after eating one bite of the food we told the manger about our dissatisfaction, and asked for a refund. She yelled at us claiming that their food was great, and that there was nothing wrong with it, and that there was something wrong with us! And refused to take it off our bill. This is my first time dining at El Corral. I was looking for a place that served some good Micheladas because my daughter was in town and she wanted some Micheladas and Ceviche. I went in cautiously optimistic but let me tell you that I was very impressed! My daughter approved of the Michelada and she is very particular about her Michelada. She loved the ceviche. I have visited this newly opened restaurant twice now and here is my report. Parking space is plentiful in its own dedicated lot. Inside it consists of a large raised ceiling dining room with an open kitchen and to one side is a full bar with music playing in the background. El Corral is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and has lunch specials. It also has a drive thru with an outside menu board just like a fast food place. My first visit was for dinner and I ordered the Classic fajitas combo with beef and chicken with charro beans and 3 homemade corn tortillas for $12.45. The complimentary chips and salsas arrived first. They give you a red and green salsa which is a plus normally. The fresh chips here are of a medium thickness and the green salsa had some kick to it, but I thought the red was almost bland. This disappointed me and I gave them a 3 but no more. The entree arrived about 10 minutes later. The charro beans were very good with contents including bacon (4). The beef fajitas had good flavor but were kind of chewy. The chicken was better along with those homemade tortillas. It also came with rice, pico, guac and salad. The sizzling platter also had a generous amount of onions and bell peppers. Even with the chewy beef, I still gave this meal a 4. Our table service was very good. The second visit was also for dinner a week later and I went with the Pescado a la diabla for $10.99 (more about the price later). It is a sauteed whitefish fillet with chipotle sauce that included onions, mushrooms and bell peppers (I asked for it on the side) and bread. Again the chips and salsa arrived and they were the same as last time (3). The entree arrived less than 15 minutes later. I had asked for those very good charro beans again. Also on the plate with the fish was an avocado salad. I liked the fish which was seasoned and then added some of the chipotle sauce on top. The sauce was spicy but not overly so and included the mentioned vegetables. The toasted bread was ok too. I gave this meal a 3.5 overall. Again table service was very good. Upon paying the bill, I noticed the entree was $12.99 and not $10.99 as listed. The waiter explained that some of the menu prices are incorrect and are being corrected. Of course, this should have been explained before ordering by him. The meal was worth the $12.99 price but this mistake should be fixed immediately. During my visits, I believe this is a well run restaurant that serves good food. The menu price errors need to be corrected but other than that it's a good place to come get your Tex Mex fix, if in the area. I just wish the chips and salsas were better however I'm sure I'll return. read more
