This is probably gonna be my dedicated lunch spot every time I come to town. First the taco was great. It had such an amazing flavor that paired well with that crispy taco. I think it was a deep fried flour taco, could have eaten a dozen. The menudo came unfinished and with all the ingredients to finish it as you like. I put the cilantro, chives, pepper flake, and some red sauce in it and it was just right. I really liked that it came with a bone in it that had soft gelatinous goodness on its side. Very tasty. I'm getting the chile relleno next time so there will be an update soon. read more

We have a membership to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and this restaurant is right up the road from it. It is our tradition when we visit to eat lunch at Los Hermanos. I love their Chile Relleno plate. There always seems to be a lot of local people there and the servers have always been the same people and are very friendly and the food comes quickly. I ordered the chorizo and eggs breakfast. I am not a snob, but at the $20 per person (tax and tip included) for breakfast price point, I don't expect everything to come in/on Styrofoam and plastic. Including the $3.00 cup of coffee. The eggs were good, the chorizo was not...the hashbrowns tasted like store bought. The beans were so cool that they could not melt the small amount of cheese placed on top. The salsa was partially frozen so made my already lukewarm meal ice cold. The tortilla could have been a high point, but needed to be hotter and would have benefited from some butter. After visiting the nearby Boyce Thompson Arboretum in the morning, we made the 5-minute drive into Superior, AZ and had lunch at Los Hermanos. It is located on the main highway just before a major turn off / intersection. Parking is in a small lot out front. The restaurant is housed in a 2-story brick building that looks like it has been there for 80 years or so. Inside, the restaurant is a rectangular space with the kitchen in the back. Seating is in booths along the side walls or at some tables in the center. The walls are painted cinderblock. The staff was friendly and took our order promptly. The patrons seemed like a mix of tourists passing through and some locals. The chips and salsa were good. The food came out fairly quickly. My lunch platter (2 tacos and a tostada, along with rice and beans) was all fresh and tasty. The portion size was good. Prices were reasonable. This seemed to be the local all-in-one place. In addition to the restaurant one one side, they also apparently had a bar with pool tables on the other, along with some sort of dance hall upstairs (?). We just had lunch, though. In a short drive around Superior (before the ~ hour drive back to Phoenix), there only seemed to be a handful of other restaurant options. I was on my way back from Kearny Arizona and decided to stop in to buy some tortillas because I've heard so many good things about them. Very short interaction with the cashier but she seemed to be very nice. The restaurant was clean and there was a nice size crowd there for a Monday afternoon on a holiday. I will definitely be giving them a try the next time I am driving through for dinner or lunch. As far as the tortillas go they were fresh and still warm when I picked them up off the shelf. The taste was very good. These are extra large flour tortillas which I am not complaining about! My only complaint is that if you are using them for burritos they are just a little bit on the thin side and have a tendency to tear. read more

This experience was a mixed bag of tricks. I arrived on a Saturday evening with a church group of 20. There was a sign on the door stating the debit machine was down and they were cash only just then. Some of us had to get cash from the ATM incuring a service fee. In the past they let us arrange the tables to accommodate a large group. Today the waitress said we couldn't do that. The place was practically empty and wouldn't have inconvenienced any other customers. Once we got our drink order placed, another woman came out to take our order. She asked why we didn't group the tables and we told her what the waitress had said. She told us she was the boss and that we could group the tables. By then we were seated at two different tables already and remained that way. After about 20 minutes our food began coming out a couple plates at a time. It took about 10 minutes to get the whole order out. One order was wrong and had to be remade. We were served on Styrofoam plates with plastic silverware. I ordered a tostada/enchilada combo. The tostada was perfect. It was loaded with refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and shredded cheese. The enchiladas were shredded beef rolled up in a flour tortilla smothered in enchilada sauce and covered with shredded cheese. The dish was served with rice and refried beans. The beans were average. The rice was perfect. The enchiladas were very tasty. I loved the sauce. The tortilla was a little tough making it hard to cut with the plastic knife. The shredded beef was tender and juicy. Pros: the food is pretty good, the price is reasonable, and the portions are generous. Cons: not the greatest place for a large group, ambiance is not that great, and the restroom is shared with the bar next door. The bathroom was not very clean and the dispenser was out of paper towels. Bye the way the order that had to be remade came out just as we were finishing up so he had to it to go. read more

First visit to Superior so decided to check this place out. It is self seating - very busy which is good. Service was a little slow. Chips and salsa is not free with food you have to order. We did not get ours until our food came out. The tamales is excellent! I just didn't care for the cheese - it tasted old or had a weird taste and it looked like sliced cheese. The smell of food is mouth watering...looking forward to ordering. It seems that they only have one waitress, she looks overwhelmed and we've been waiting for a solid 20 minutes. The folks here sure look friendly and happy though...everyone is engaged in conversation. Okay, finally got our drinks ordered and got a menu...prices are reasonable but limited selection. Our server is great...she really is focused on making our visit a great one. I decided on ordering a chorizo and egg burrito...update there are two waitresses. Tried the salsa and chips...the salsa is delicious but the chips are think n not easy on the teeth. Here's my verdict... The food is very tasty and has the right amount of flavor to satisfy my taste buds. The portions are super small and it all seem like if I was eating at home or at a friend's house. I've been coming here for years. When headed up to Lake Roosevelt or wheeling up in Walnut Canyon. The food hasn't really ever changed. You know what your going to get. It's just simple diner cooking in a old rundown building. The service is not bad, it's just slow. You'll have to seat yourself and wait a bit before you get to even ask for something to drink. You might as well check out the menu and make your order when you put in your drink order. They might just show up and the same time. Don't have high expectations just enjoy the company your with, make conversation and wait. Make sure to ask for the house hot sauce. It not ready hot however, it has great flavor. We came here after a weekend camping trip, we got a few things, the horchata was really good. The ham torta I would definitely recommend - we got ours with beans in it. The red salsa was good, get that for sure. The thing that I ended up ordering was the carne asada quesadilla I wasn't too happy with it. They used an cheddar cheese I think. This is by far the best Mexican food I have ever had. The employees treated us like family. Our truck broke down in the parking lot and we had to camp there. They allowed us to plug in so we could open up the camper. We had to leave the camper over Memorial Day weekend while we went into Phoenix to buy a new truck. They checked on us and never made us feel like we were intruding. The hospitality was genuine. what could have been the biggest disaster of our trip turned out to be the biggest blessing. Los Hermanos is my boyfriend's favorite restaurant. He was so worried we would not arrive before they closed for the night. Instead we spent several days going back and forth from Phoenix to work on the truck and get clothes from the camper. Every time we ate another meal there was a blessing. Breakfast for two always under $20 and DELICIOUS. Choose from pancakes, omelettes, waffles or Mexican breakfast. They are open all day. The Mexican food is the best. Green Chili burro is my favorite. I know why this place has low Yelp ratings. Yes, it's true the service is horrible. When you walk inside the restaurant no one would greet you. You have to figure out if the waitstaff is going to escort you to a table. So, a local told us to sit down where the table has not been cleaned but sit there anyway​ because​ they'll clean for you. But we decided to wait for a clean table to sit in​ the booth area. The first waitstaff asked what type of drinks​, well have. Second​​ wait​staff​ will take the order. I had the machaca chimichanga burrito with a side of Mexican rice. It was okay, I think it was over fried and the meat is very dry. I had to put their​ watery salsa to give it flavor. I think the ​majority​ of the food is prepared ahead and gets heats up. Because we got out food quickly. Lastly, one thing I really liked is they sell turnovers. It is located on the left inside the double door clear refrigerator​ on the left when facing the kitchen​ area. The turnovers comes in blueberry, pineapple​, cherry, apple and raspberry flavor. The waitress brought us a chilled glass that was broken with about a third of it completely missing - not just a chip or crack. 5 of us ordered at the same time and two of us were served while the others waited and waited. We chose this place on a recent Saturday night because there were lots of cars out front and the place looked busy. Well, that's only partially true. The other reason we chose it was that it was the only place in town that was open (I use the word "town" very loosely here). But it's true, if the place is filled with locals it can't be bad, right? And no it wasn't bad. Okay, maybe this isn't the place you want to bring a first date ... it is garishly lit with a combination of types of light bulbs, tile floor, chrome & vinyl chairs and bare banquet tables. For a place of its size there were a ton of people working there, I think I counted 5-6 servers, all of whom are friendly. The service itself wasn't anything to write home about, we had several people wait on our table with an expected amount of confusion resulting, but if you're a good sport about it you have to make allowances that after all this is a pretty small town. But the food? As far as Mexican food goes one of my hot buttons is places that charge $30 for Mexican food that's not much better than Taco Bell. Los Hermanos keeps it real, and the prices are right where they should be. I had a combination of two enchiladas, rice and beans and it was filled with plenty of shredded beef and covered with a sauce that didn't taste canned. I added an albondigas soup that was as good as I've had in Mexico City. I doubt that it was canned, the meatballs looked and tasted homemade and the carrots were fresh and firm. Los Hermanos is in the same building and attached to a saloon but they are completely separate from each other, a definite plus as far as I am concerned. Even if this wasn't the only place open at 9 PM on a Saturday night I would come here again for the food. read more

Got takeout. I'm giving 2 stars because my husband said the red chili was decent and the chips were pretty good. Got the chicken chimichanga and the chicken was old, dry, and definitely reheated. Tasted terrible and was like jerky. Couldn't eat it, waste of money and I'm still hungry. Rice was awful and the salsa seems to have oregano in it. Weird. It was like going to eat at someone's house who isn't a very good cook. Their handmade tortillas are dry and flavorless. Restaurant isn't very inviting and has an open doorway into the lounge which was odd. They didn't have what I ordered over the phone, so when I went to pick it up, nothing was ready and I had to reorder and wait. Wanted 2 slices of pie, they wouldn't cut one and said I'd have to buy the whole thing, it looked storebought. No thanks. Will not be going back. read more
