I received a note from Schawb saying my 1099 Composite form for 2024 won't be issued due to the lack of taxable activity. Based on that information Tim finalized my taxes and submitted to IRS. A few weeks later Schwab changed its position and issued 1099 form. I immediately contacted Tim and submitted the form to him, and asked him to include it in my returns and amend my taxes if needed. His response: "This is nothing to worry about. Not a big deal at all so don't lose any sleep over it Sir. Have a great evening!" 6 months ago I got contacted by IRS saying I owe them taxes plus interest on that 1099 Schwab form that Tim apparently neglected to look at and submit. I contacted Tim and provided all details and background information saying it looked like IRS was correct and asked for his assistance to deal with IRS as my CPA who submitted the taxes for that year. After several days of no response to my emails and voice mails, I finally got Tim on the phone. He was rude and aggressive, as it goes with people who know they had been negligent and at fault, and told me he wouldn't help me. He said that he "Didn't need me as a client, and didn't need my business". How would you like to hear that rude statement? He said his CPA firm had plenty of clients, and if I needed some help, they had another CPA firm down the corridor looking for clients. I said that I hired him and his firm not because my taxes were complicated, but because I wanted him to step in and deal with IRS in case there are any issues. And as it happened, there was an issue because a tax form was neglected to be submitted by his firm. His response: "They won't drag you to Gulag for that". When I told him he crossed the line with his "joke", he realized he went too far and offered me a refund for his 2024 tax preparation fee, which even didn't cover the interest IRS levied on additional taxes I owed them due to Tim's gross professional negligence. I finally settled my IRS issue on my own. If I say it wasn't pleasant or not stressful, it would be an understatement. I was shocked at how Tim Taylor handled my IRS tax issue that he himself created due to his professional negligence. I see that his CPA firm has many good reviews. And my case could be regarded as an exception? Perhaps his clients haven't run into similar issues yet? I definitely would stay away from Tim Taylor and would not count on his help if you run into any issues with IRS. Especially if he turns out to be the cause of that issue. I will follow up with California Board of Accountancy and will look into other ways to make sure Tim Taylor and his firm adhere to practices and client policies expected of a CPA firm.
