I was pleasantly surprised, albeit momentarily overwhelmed, by the number of additional menu items pasted on at the drive thru. In fact, all I remember was that they offered sopes and I think real gorditas. Perhaps pozole on the weekends? I had the adobada burrito which came with guacamole, a pleasing combination. For anyone unfamiliar with adobada or who hasn't been to New Mexico, it's pulled pork flavored with the highly colored achiote, akin to cochinita pibil. Not available at most restaurants in Wichita, but found here and there, it's a nice departure from the norm and I appreciated the option. My husband had carnitas, barbacoa and lengua tacos, all of which were approved and not overly greasy. Overall, the typical drive thru late night Mexican joint, but the additions like sopes and hot Cheeto fries make it worth stopping here instead of the other nearby options. Tacos appeared to be made to order, were fresh and generally pretty tasty. I went with carne asada and carnitas. They were served with cilantro, onions, fresh lime wedges and a roasted pepper for garnish. (which was a nice touch). Yes They have a self-serve hot sauce station and all of the sauces were pretty decent. I almost gave this place 3 stars for the complete lack of atmosphere. The name of this place may appear redundant - was the "Mexican" qualifier chosen so as to not mislead customers into believing they were ordering Italian or Chinese burritos? - but in reality, the burritos of Mexico were small, relatively, unpopular and originally meant to be portable food like tamales, which could be eaten quickly, out of the hand, and could fill you up quickly. It wasn't until the late '60's when the Mission-style burrito was created in San Francisco when Americans grew to love the hulking beast of a meal of today that requires a knife, fork, and plenty of napkins. So maybe tacking on that "Mexican" name could be warranted after all. Not here, though - these are the American-style burritos. Not that it's such a bad thing, because the increased space allows for some variety in flavor combinations, like the Colorado burrito I ordered, stuffed with carne asada and potatoes. The addition of potatoes inside the burrito is more indicative of a burrito California in origin, but I found the meat to be tender enough and the potatoes to have a healthy amount of browning on their exteriors. There was an option to have the burrito smothered, and given the trademark of the Colorado burrito is the mirasol chile sauce in which they cover most of their burritos, I thought it would be appropriate. Sadly it was just their enchilada sauce, but I had no problems with it functionally. There was also a tomatillo salsa that was too thin, but provided a nice bit of spice. One of the appeals of Los Mexican Burritos is that the drive-through is open 24 hours a day, and having driven past the place dozens of times on my way to and from work, I took advantage of this fact on a late Friday night after a beer or two and before another beer or two. At the time, I thought it was probably worth four stars, but as we all know, Meixcan food tastes at least 1.33x better when inebriated. read more

I favor tacos the most, so I ordered the beef tacos and enchiladas. They were both exquisitely yummy. I see my classmates go here every morning and they seem like they are having a good time. This place is the shit! I moved away from Wichita almost 2 years ago and I still think about this place at least once a week. I wish I could find a fabulous burrito like this in Kentucky, but no dice. The prices are awesome, it's open 24 hours, and they sell beer ! Went to get food, as we tried to pay they said the card was denied. Looked up bank info & confirmed we had money in the account. Then the drive thru lady continues to tell us she locked our card, okay. We got to the bank to get card unlocked, come back to pay for food & now the whole cc machine is down apparently. Los Mexican Burritos is my favorite spot to hit up after leaving the bar. The Supreme Burrito is your typical run of the mill burrito but hits the spot after the bar closes! Be prepared to wait for your food if you go right around last call, lots of other bar hoppers will probably have the same idea as you. This place gets packed on weekend late nights. The staff aren't overly friendly but they get the job done. The food is always hot and made to order! The restaurant isn't the cleanest but you get what you pay for. For years I only visited this restaurant in the wee hours of the morning. I made the mistake of going for dinner only once. I prefer the Colorado, but all of the breakfast options are also phenomenal. But after the second bite, I started getting gristle and fat in the burrito - a lot of it, like every single bite... This place is trash. Every Mexican restaurant at minimal should have there carne asada fries tasting decent. It's basic. When I say the meat is of poor quality, it's super disappointing. I tried to give this place several chances but sadly each time has been a huge let down. The meat besides having a horrible texture and being super salty should not be served in that condition. See here's the thing, I would have shared a photo, but the camera doesn't work fast enough. I haven't been here in an extremely long time and I'll be honest with you that is clearly a mistake. We kept it pretty simple today, wife ordered 3 Hard Tacos while I saw fit to try the Enchilada Meal(one cheese, one ground beef, comes with refried beans & rice). My wife barely got a couple blocks away before she had to wipe a tear because she ran out of tacos. Obviously we will be going back WAY more frequently. My enchiladas had the best red sauce I have ever tasted on an enchilada, the beans and rice were perfect. Our overall total for this excursion was less than $20, which says a couple of things, we should've have bought some for leftovers. Amazing food! read more

But honestly, the tacos de lengua are what stands out here. If you like brisket or any similar rich meat, you're missing out if you haven't had the lengua. I've been coming to this place for the last several years and I've always worshipped their food. It's authentic Mexican food at its finest. However the last couple of times I've noticed the quality slipping. The first time, I had an excessively greasy and stale Taco with nearly burnt meat. I ate it anyways thinking it was an off day because everything else was delicious. Months later, I received the same greasy and stale Taco with meat that looked like burnt greasy remnants that were scraped from the corners of the skillet. I tried to refrain a complaint but couldn't help it and told the cook. "my taco is tough, stale, and greasy" They acted like I was out of my mind. "no it's not they're crunchy!" the little cook guy said. "look I don't know what to tell you, Ive been coming here for years and now your tacos are stale! " so he gave me another one and lo and behold, it was crunchy with a nice helping of meat cooked just right and not scraped from a grease trap. It just p#sses me off they would tell me there was nothing wrong. I'm tasting with my mouth not your mouth. Moreover, the chili relleno my mother had also seemed really tough. This place is a joke. I actually do enjoy their food quite a bit, but their service is the worst. The taste of the food does not even come close to making up for how mean and nasty their employees are. This is the third time out of three times going there, and they have done something wrong on my order every single time. I understand that mistakes happen, as I am in customer service as well, but it should be a given that employees should try to fix their mistakes if at all possible. This is not what happened. I went back with my receipt after they got my order wrong and asked very politely if they had just forgotten my burritos. I ordered two burritos, an order of tacos, and two desserts for my friends and got zero burritos but nothing else. They said they had only charged me for one burrito and that it was there. I told them yet again that I got no burritos, and from the very first they had been rude, and now they started to talk down to me like I was stupid or in the wrong. I told them that I would be more than willing to pay the difference if I could just get the two burritos I previously ordered. They had to ask me over ten times what those burritos were and then charged my card for both. When I told them that I had already paid 14 dollars and they charged me an extra 12, they just shrugged and told me that was the price. I just decided to leave before I got even more mad. The funny thing is, I never get mad, and am always polite, because I know how much it can suck to work in fast food. No excuses can be made for these people.
