This body shop was recommended to me and I took my car in for an estimate for a minor scratch. Told them I would pay for it myself, no insurance. I used to own my own body shop and am familiar with what is involved repairing body damages. I know that the paint for my car would be problematic but everything else was pretty standard. I called the paint suppliers and the dealer who sold me the car and was quoted that the paint would cost about $50.00. My estimate of the labor was about $500.00. This shop wrote an estimate of over $5200.00. Their paint charge alone was $917.00! They claimed that the headliner, the rear bumper, the roof rack and so many other things that had nothing to do with the door scratch needed to be removed and replaced! Went to have an estimate on my brand new Chevy Equinox EV that got two small dents in the rear lift gate. Travis took pictures looked over the lift gate inside and out. Explained how they would go about making my car look brand new again. Gave me the written quote within minutes and told me how to contact my insurance carrier and get my insurance claim approved. The facility was very clean and modern looking. The craftsman that I saw working seemed first class and friendly. I am visiting the area. On the way down, I backed into some sort of utility pole and damaged my bumper cover on my 2007 RAV4. It looked awful and I was so upset. I stopped in to see if anything could be done. Since I am just visiting, I need my car and couldn't just leave it for a full on bumper cover replacement. Scott and Daniel really helped me out. I'm really disappointed that I have to write this. I initially had a great experience with this shop, even leaving a glowing review. However, they now refuse to stand behind their work. I was in a vehicle accident almost seven years ago and was recommended this shop by a former co-worker.The person I originally worked with is no longer there working here, and now I can't even get a callback from the owner, who avoids responsibility. Recently, I noticed that the original door trim, which was held on by double-sided tape, started peeling and oxidizing. I decided to use a heat gun to remove it. On the passenger side, everything went smoothly.However, on the driver's side, where LOAB did the repair work, I discovered they had used a very strong adhesive to reattach the trim without consulting me. This wasn't communicated to me at the time. When I tried to remove the trim, it pulled off the paint and clear coat on both doors, leaving noticeable damage (see attached photos).I called LOAB, hoping they would stand behind their work, but each time I asked to speak with the owner, I was told he was too busy to call me back. Instead, the office staff informed me that they would not help, despite this issue being entirely due to their negligence and failure to follow industry standards.I have changed my 5-star review to 1 star because this shop is a scam. After 45 years in business, if they rely on poorly executed work and cutting corners, it's time to reconsider their practices. This negative review could have been avoided if the owner had any integrity and simply returned my call. It's pathetic to have office staff handle the situation instead of addressing it personally. read more

I had and experience with Travis and Los Osos Auto Body that went way beyond my expectations and stands out as the most positive outcome of any mechanic or auto body shop estimate process in my long career of car ownership. I have a 10 year old car that I plan to keep forever. I brought it to Travis for an estimate on damage to the spoiler after hitting a curb. Travis needed the car for an hour to remove the front end and inspect the extent of any further undercarriage damage. I agreed to pay $100 inspection to determine the extent of the work estimate. The car was fixed when he called a 1/2 hour later and was 100% safe and ready to roll5. When I went to write the check, Travis said "No charge. It only took 15 minutes". He showed me the actual estimate if I wanted to "make the car like new" (repairing plastics :) I could pay the $500 deductible and call insurance to pay the balance ($3,725). He said "Altho, I'm talking myself out of work, I wouldn't advise it". I agreed and was thrilled with the outcome! :) read more

This body shop is the absolute best you will find. We had a bumper get partly ripped off the front of our BMW while on vacation near Los Osos. We limped over to this body shop and within minutes they had it on a hoist and put it back in place so that we could drive home hundreds of miles away and have it fixed where we live. We were literally in and out of there in 15 to 20 minutes and they refused to charge us. These guys are brilliant. Do not hesitate for one second to hire them. They are amazing. The fender insert on my 2018 Ford F-150 needed to be replaced. My mechanic ordered the part, but told me that he wouldn't really be able to replace it and that I should take it to Los Osos Auto Body. So I made an appointment to have it installed. They had the truck for about an hour and a half, did the replacement, and did not charge me anything! I have been taking cars to them for years after accidents and have always been extremely satisfied with their work, but this just amazed me! I drive a car that has a lot of sentimental value attached to it. It's a Chrysler 300, and it has a very LOW front end. It belonged to my late husband and it was his "baby", so when I drive it I think of him, and I imagine him shaking his fist at me whenever a bird poops on the door. So, you can imagine how I felt when I my dog walker showed up and said "WHAT IN THE H#$ DID YOU DO TO YOUR CAR"??? I'd pulled my bumper away from the body of the car. It was just hanging there. Apparently, this happened in a parking lot, and I wrote off the crunchy noise to "huh, that was strange".. My son tried to put it back on, but failed. He told me I'd probably need a new bumper, because this happened to DAD once, and they had to replace the whole thing. I was relieved to hear that DAD did the same stunt, but a new bumper? Oh no! I was so freaked out. But from the time I called Los Osos Auto Body, until the time I pulled out of their driveway, I was nothing but relieved and happy. They came highly recommended by everyone I know, so they already have a stellar reputation. It started with the call to the office, which connected me to a woman (I wish I could recall her name) who was very kind and understanding. She assured me that I could come in any time, just at my convenience, and someone would be happy to look at the car and give me an idea of what needed to be done. I would be very day to trick because I know so little about cars, and I tend to be trusting and friendly. I am sure I have "VICTIM" stamped on my forehead with dollar signs on my eyes. They could have taken me for a RIDE, and I would have gladly paid them for their services. Instead? A gentleman named David took my name, phone number, and took a look at the damage. He was so kind, and he had a calming effect on my nervous system. That is what you NEED when you are in an auto body shop. He told me if I could leave the car, they'd get to it as soon as possible and he'd give me a call. This was late in the afternoon. I got a call the next morning telling me I could come and get my car. They had the screws they needed, and they'd re attached my bumper. FOR FREE? I still cannot believe they not only put my bumper back on, but they polished up my car and made her look brand new. I drove off in a car that was gleaming, and intact. And that is the kind of service money can't buy. They are clearly busy. But, they treat you like you are the only person in the place. Even though they are surrounded by crunched cars and sad stories. I cannot say enough nice things, and even if I'd had a bill I'd be saying the same nice things, because this was VERY stressful and sad for me. I think to it is safe to say, this is a business that you can put your faith in. I hope I never need to use them again, but since I do all of my own stunts, I may indeed be back. If YOU need them (and I hope you do not) I cannot tell you how highly I recommend that you put your faith in the people at Los Osos Auto Body. They are simply the best. My insurance recommended them. Not only they were 8 minutes away but also had loaner cars which is excellent since I need my car to get to work. They did an excellent job after a rough weekend on some snowy conditions in Tahoe. Snow chains fell off and a rock cracked my windshield. The plastic under the tires ripped off and bent my front bumper. It was a mess. I had to take my buck knife to cut away the plastic so I could drive. Anyways I was shocked that this company even detailed my car! It was immaculate! They did the front grill up nice, looking brand new, I wish I could get the rest of the car done, bumper ain't too nice since this car has a crappy turning radius. Amazing experience. Our little MINI Cooper was hit by a big ol' SUV in a parking lot. There was about $2500 in damage. The other party's insurance company suggested we use one of their pre-approved repair shops. Los Osos Auto Body was the closest to our house. They were very professional (the estimators wear ties!), Hector, our estimator, gave us an estimate right away, they found the parts is a couple of days (including a very hard to find high performance tire) and they completed the work when they said they would. Hector checked in with us every couple of days. I always knew what was going on. The work is perfect! The paint match is spot on, they got all original MINI parts and the work is flawless. This place is great. They fixed the crunched-in passenger side front quarter panel on my 2015 Toyota Tacoma, now it looks brand new.
