I've been many times over the past 5 years or so and have never been disappointed in the food. I've also never had to wait to be seated or wait too long for the food. My go to is the seafood chimichanga with rice and I get a side of beans. My husband loves the tamales with beef and wishes there was an entree that really featured them (he gets them ala carte with a side of rice and beans). We've had many of the entrees over time; spinach cream burritos, chili poblanos, the combo platters. Never had a bad or inconsistent meal. Haven't tried it yet but glad they added carnitas and birria choices which are newer to the menu. The only detractor is the location. It's in an alley so if you're seated and facing the window, you have a view of an alley. Would love if they were able the at paint the alley wall or something. Will certainly keep being a regular customer.

Gave this place a shot on a whim, and I'm glad we did. Though it was a smaller restaurant, they were packed, we had a large party, but they accommodated us and was super friendly. This place seems to be popular as people kept coming in. The birria quesadilla was really good. We all just split everything for the most part. My son really enjoyed the tacos al pastor versus the quesadilla. But me and my sister and I enjoyed the quesadilla more than the taco. Nonetheless, everything was really good. Though the rice was good, I feel that it could be more authentic. There is plenty of parking in this Plaza. Like I said, this place is small, so there may be a wait.

A little kitschy but cute . Margaritas were good and I had the Burria Chimichanga and it was delicious . Hubby had the Buritto Grande and although good it came out very plain . Service was very good and the prices were very reasonable.

You absolutely must find this hidden gem in Delmar! Killer guacamole, the Birra tacos are life-changing, and even my picky eater six-year-old loved the mac & cheese. Get yourself a pitcher of margaritas to share, and you will be so happy you did!

    Chicken Fajitas

I had the chicken fajitas and it was a wonderful dish. It was about as good or the best I've had in my travels. The restaurant is a bit hard to find, it's in the corner of a strip mall in Delmar. Highly recommend

Margaritas are really good and I always get the chicken tortilla soup when I go. The chips and salsa are very authentic.

My expectations weren't too high because I didn't know if Albany had a thriving Mexican community. Viva Cinco de Mayo blew me away! We sat in a comfortable outdoor dining section. Our waitress was extremely helpful! The menu was extensive and felt authentic to me. My daughter ordered chips and queso, clearly house made chips were outstanding! Her chicken and cheese quesadilla was also delicious. My wife and I shared some of the best tamales we've ever had! So fresh and vibrant, chicken with green salsa. My wife enjoyed three tacos and the sangria. I absolutely loved their pozole with mole sauce! The hominy was perfectly cooked. Their fresh Tamarindo juice was also delicious! Truly an awesome lunch!

The contrast was adult identifiable. Food here is good and comes out fast and piping hot. Service needs some tuning and it wasn't slammed during both of my visits. They seem ti have plenty of servers and help on duty, but they all seem running around but not doing what is needed to tend to the tables/guests. I will go back and again, the food is good and value/price for portion and quality very reasonable.

The Baja tacos were delicious and came with a super spicy sauce (they did have a lot of onions which was my only drawback). We ended the night with a special strawberry tres leches for Valentine's Day. It's not something I would have typically ordered but I do love tres leches and this did not disappoint - it was amazing. All in all excellent food you'll be glad you came for the food! A few other notes- the inside of the restaurant is pretty and draws on what I've seen in other Mexican restaurants. Staff were so friendly and had the perfect balance of checking in with us to letting us eat our meal. There is a small bar area that is separate from the dining area. Street parking only but there seemed to be plenty of spots. However, I would try to park as close as possible to the restaurant as the neighborhood itself didn't seem like the greatest. We had no issues during our experience but just something to consider. Overall I really liked this place and will definitely return!

Ordinary Surroundings, Extraordinary Food. I live in Texas,…read moreso I approach Mexican food north of the Mason-Dixon line with some trepidation, but while visiting my former hometown our visit to El Rancho was delightful. The simple laminated menu gave me pause, but one look revealed a thoughtful and extensive menu of traditional favorites, grilled items, seafood, stews and soups. There's a little bit of everything and even a large diverse group of diners is sure to find a favorite. There's a robust (and moderately priced) cocktail menu and the entire menu presents a fair value, especially since the portions were large and called for some take-home containers. My Camarones al Diablo were spicy and hot, and a taste of the Tacos Camarones was also delicious. Everyone enjoyed their respective selections and drinks. Two minor quibbles: it is bright enough inside to do surgery. A dimmer or fewer lights on would improve the ambiance. And, like so many places these days, it can get quite loud, with all the reflective surfaces echoing. The lights are an easy improvement, the sound-dampening a bit more challenging. Regardless, a visit to El Rancho will not disappoint.

Weather was solid, so we sat outside -- big win. Sunshine, cold drinks, and a light breeze carrying the scent of sizzling carne asada. Chef's kiss. First off -- the drinks hit colder than your ex's last text. Margarita was so cold I think I saw it shiver. My wife said, "Is this lime fresh-squeezed?" I said, "Mi amor, I don't care if it was stomped by angels -- it's delicious." Food? Traditional Mexican, not that drive-thru Tex-Mex confusion. Real-deal tacos, cheesy enchiladas, fresh guac so creamy it had my suegra nodding silently like it was church. If she approves, it's legit. Service was quick, chill, and friendly. Our server hit us with the perfect combo of "do you need anything?" and "I'll leave you alone to vibe." Respect. She called my suegra "señora" with such grace I swear the tip doubled on impact. Pro tip: go early before a concert. Parking was a breeze, we were in and out, and still had time to people-watch all the chaos downtown. By the time we got to the arena, we were full, feeling muy bien, and ready to scream along to songs we only halfway know. Final thoughts: El Mariachi isn't just dinner -- it's a vibe. A pregame party with tamales instead of tailgates. Good prices, cold drinks, and tacos that'll haunt your dreams (in a good way). ¡Dale! Don't sleep on this place.

The restaurant is very beautiful and there are vibrant colors throughout we enjoyed all the flowery photo op areas that are available. There was actually a very large heart near the main entrance where customers could take a photo; very cool. We weren't fans of the plastic silverware and they prevented purchase of their Margarita flights because it was a holiday; I get the flights but if we're spending $16+ for a lunch item or $23+ for a dinner item in restaurant we should get real silverware. Mom and me ordered the Fajita Express ($16) my stepdad ordered the lunch cheese steak quesadilla $14.50. we were a bit disappointed when the fajitas arrived; no searing skillet, what's up with that? Just the food on a plate. The quesadilla was a strange presentation as well. Folded over in half but not cut, zero crisp or crunch, and sauce on top. Never seen anyone have to eat a quesadilla with a fork and knife before. The food did taste good overall but the presentation was a fail. We ordered a few drinks as well. All drinks were served in plastic cups. The beer was reasonably priced and cold. The house margarita was delicious ($12) and the Mexican Muel was also tasty ($10). As for some of the other Margarita options they cost as much as some of the lunch and dinner items, a bit extreme. We couldn't believe they didn't have any margarita specials on Cinco de Mayo, another fail. The restrooms are a bit of a mess. The mens room toilet has a leak at the base and the caulk job is horrendous. One of the hand washing sinks is out of service with a grocery bag over the spout and valve. Overall we had an ok experience, nothing spectacular. If it weren't Cico de Mayo we would have just stopped by Teds Fish Fry. Next time I'm in the area and looking for lunch or dinner, we will most likely try somewhere else.
