Horrible place to eat. If a restaurant can't clean their utensils correctly than I don't trust eating there . They gave me new set of "clean" Utensils 3 times before they actually brought a clean one. Definitely not worth going. Should get some inspections in there instead of customers. read more

I hate to do this however it needs to be done. My husband and I got food to go and while my husband was eating he found a spreadable butter tab in his fajitas. I called to notify and they offered to replace the food but honestly we had lost our appetite by then. I wasn't expecting anything I just wanted them to be aware of whoever is boxing up to go orders or whoever the cook is needs to be more aware of these things. It's going to take me a long time to feel comfortable going back. Garbage in food is gross. read more

We have lived in Texas all our lives, and my first solid food was frijoles refritos. Gary got the shrimp and said they were pretty good. The quail were not even adequate. One was burned to a crisp. I think I got about 4 bites of meat off the two. There was no rice. They were out of it at 8:30. The beans were definitely not the way Mama made them. The tortillas were stale. Very disappointing meal. They would have received lower than 3 if Gary had not enjoyed his shrimp. read more

We stopped at Los Patrones for lunch on Thursday, March 15th on our way home from Austin. We arrived shortly after 1pm and the restaurant was not crowded at all. There were only a few patrons inside. Once we were seated, I ordered the Los Patrones which came with your choice of beef or chicken fajitas, one chicken ranchero enchilada and one ground beef crispy taco. I went with the chicken fajitas and don't let the description fool you. All the "chicken fajitas" were, was the chunks of chicken meat and a few onions found underneath. There was a scoop of guacamole and some pico on the plate, but that was it as far as the "fajitas" go. Our son ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce and tomatoes; however, when it was brought to the table, there was no lettuce or tomato accompanying the burger. Our son started eating his cheeseburger and told us not to worry about the toppings. The waiter did not recognize it until our son was about halfway done with his burger, that it dawned on him that he forgot to bring the toppings. Service was not great at all. I have been here several times before, however the last couple times service has been slow and not attentive. It took 35 minutes for the waiter to come to the table and and another 50 minutes after that to receive food. No waiter check on us during this time. We were able to finish a whole margarita and still haven't been waited on to see if we wanted another. When food came mines was cold. There was no customer satisfaction at the end to please the customer for the services. It was never like that before. Food is good. I do not eat here often. If your really hungry do not go during busy time. Certain waiters will not come to you in a timely manner. read more

Some of the worst food, service of a Mexican restaurant that I've been to in years. We frequent many Mexican restaurants throughout the state. The food was greasy, crunchy and hard and hard to eat overall. The service was pathetic. They never checked on us. The staff congregated near the bar or the kitchen area chatting instead of checking on customers. It was so loud we had to move to a booth at one point because of the music blaring and customers talking across tables to each other screaming. What a nightmare and a waste of money. read more

We were in town on vacation and noticed each time we drove by that the parking lot was always full. So we decided to give it a try, and man was it good! We got seated quickly ( tho soon after a line did begin to form and there were lots of people waiting) and our drinks came quickly. It took a while for the waitress to get back around for our food order, but since we weren't in a hurry we didn't mind. And let me tell you, the waitress were busy busy, cause the place was packed. I got the Monteray chicken Fajitas for one and they were delicious! And enough food to feed two people. I also got the house margarita and it was really good- not too sweet, not too strong, but definitely had a kick to it. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town. read more

I don't like giving 3-star ratings. I try my best to see the good in any restaurant I visit, but I like to be honest first and foremost. I look to Yelp for ratings often and I base most of my visits and purchases on customer ratings, so I depend on others being honest too. So with that being said, let me begin with the good; food was good and plentiful, the two salsas were REALLY good, the sweet tea was really good, and our waiter was very friendly and attentive. So, "Why the 3-star rating!?" you ask? So the second we walk in, our attention is immediately drawn to the trashy mess on the floors throughout the dining room. Holy cow! Chips, food, napkins...and more chips, food, and napkins! A gentleman, we assume is the manager or owner, is rude and acted put out that we were there as he seated us, just as he was when we subsequently paid out. I'm not one that has to feel pampered, but seriously...!?, you can't even push out a "How was your meal?"...or "Thank you for coming in tonight." Nothing! So, in a nutshell, food is pretty good, wait staff very friendly...and that's about the extent of it. Would I eat there again...? In Giddings, there just aren't many choices for eating out. Most places I like end up closing the next time I try to eat there. (Is it me?) Sunday, after church, the family headed to Los Patrones Mexican Grill. My cousin had recommended the place. Of course, I remember when that location used to be at least two other restaurants, so we'll see what kind of future Los Patrones has. Service was attentive and quick. The chips and salsa were plentiful, but I thought both of the salsas (a red and a green) were on the spicy side. I bit too spicy for me (and way too spicy for my elderly parents.) I ordered Los Mariachis, a delicious flour tortilla stuffed with seasoned beef fajita meat and shrimp. It was very good! The seasoning on the beef fajita meat was great. A nice mix of lime and something else. The plate came with delicious burracho beans and mexican rice. My sister treated us to lunch, so I have to admit that I didn't pay close attention to the prices. However, we all got plenty to eat and even topped it off with a free ice cream cone at the end of the meal. If you're looking to do lunch in Giddings, Los Patrones is a good choice. read more

The Galvan family has made Giddings a favorite stop for locals and visitors alike. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is better! Many times when we go for lunch or dinner there is standing room only. They also have a very nice meeting room on the side for corporate or family groups. Yesterday I had a bunch of things to get done at work and wasn't hungry. So of course I decided to have a leisurely lunch at a Mexican restaurant ... makes perfect sense, right? I ordered the Tacos al Carbon lunch special with chicken, a diet coke, and a side of grated cheese. I decided to be good for once and not order any extra tortillas. The complimentary chips and salsa were very good. The chips were crispy and hot with just the right amount of grease. They were served with two salsas, a creamy green one and a peppery red one. Both were good and obviously fresh but the red one was my favorite. The wait for my meal was pretty short. As expected, I got two rolled flour tortillas with cubes of grilled chicken breast inside, along with rice/beans/pico-salad thing on the side. The chicken was good for the most part, I think I only got one or two tiny cubes that were fatty/tendony, the rest was good quality. Beans were okay ... though a little too much on the whole-bean side for me and tasting oddly Zatarain's-like. Rice was obviously homemade and had good flavor, but was a bit on the moist/mushy side for me. Grated cheese was fine of course ... I love cheese. Total for everything was $10.11. Again, kinda pricy for lunch, but I did get quite a bit of food I guess. It's possible I'll be back, but probably not for quite awhile since I'm trying not to go out to eat for lunch very often. read more

SO GROSS. We stopped here on the way home to Houston from Austin. The reviews weren't that bad so we figured we'd try it since we were starving. I was grossed out and uncomfortable from the moment I stepped into this establishment. The pace is very dimly lit, smells funny, and the decor is not pleasing. A waiter showed us to a table that had flies circling it. The flies were a nuisance the whole time we were there... bouncing off of us, trying to land in our food... anyway, I ordered the fried avocado stuffed with shrimp. It came with a cup of soup that I had originally considered ordering instead. I'm glad I didn't. It was very salty, not hot enough and mostly broth. Oh and before I could even eat it, I asked the waiter for a spoon and he came back and stuck it in my soup even though I had my hand out for it. That annoyed me a lot since I like to wipe off all my silverware before using it. It's a habit of mine and I felt what he did was kind of rude. Back to the food... the outside of my avocado was good. Nice and crispy. But the shrimp inside wasn't great. It was limp, flavorless, and wasn't warm. The only thing on my plate that I was ok with was the rice. I gave my husband my taco that came on the plate because my appetite was gone. I read nothing but bad news about the beans so I didn't even touch them. They have complimentary ice cream here but I didn't even let my kids get any because I just wanted to get out of there! I'm still trying to figure out how this place has decent reviews. I come to Giddings every weekend during the Renaissance Festival season and I catch myself grabbing dinner here at least twice. It is a nice, relaxing and easy place to grab some Mexican food. The quality of the food is good with all the chips and salsa you can eat while you are waiting, but let me make a suggestion - order the large Gaucamole Salad appetizer and dip your chips in that while you are waiting. Trust me, it is more guacamole than salad with your other favorite dip fixin's and you will eat well. My wife gets the same thing every time - the Cajun Pasta. I know, she is weird but don't blame her. She is from Kentucky. Come for a late dinner on a Saturday or Sunday in February or March and you are bound to see plenty of people in Renaissance garb who are here for a meal after a long day of working at Sherwood Forest Faire. read more

Took my lady to dinner tonight and we were very satisfied! She had the Cicilian Pasta (spelled right) which consisted of bow tie pasta with jumbo shrimp,scallops, crawfish,sausage and a side of garlic toast. This is my second time there and I doubt I'll be back. The service was very good and the beer was ice cold, other than that it wasn't a great experience. The place just seems overall dirty. I ordered beef fajitas and there was NO seasoning on the beef or in the refried beans. Horrible and bland. The only thing going for it was the meat was extremely tender and cooked well.
