We were traveling through and stopped here based on all the positive reviews and they did not disappoint! We tried bacon, potato and cheese, egg and potato with cheese and brought bean and cheese ones home for later. The green sauce was quite spicy but so delicious. We will be stopping here anytime we are in the La Grange area in the future. read more

Definitely NOT a hidden gem. Must be the best Mexican restaurant in a quarter mile radius, the same radius the people who reviewed it live in. We asked for "cheese" nachos - 150% they added cheese and nuked them in the microwave. The supreme nachos were gross. And the menu is confusing - like do you have lunch tacos? And what comes n them? While visiting my brother in la Grange we picked up breakfast tacos here. We order the combo taco and it was delicious. Believe me when I tell you, this taco is pretty thick. One is more than enough to satisfy your hunger. The combo taco was really good and flavorful, and I enjoyed it. I think it's take out only because I didn't see any inside seating, but they do a good business and the food is good. I stopped by on my way back to Austin after locating this restaurant on Yelp. It's a takeout only restaurant and there's a 15 minute wait. I wanted the fajita taco, but it was unavailable. I choose the brisket taco, instead, and it was pretty good. The 2nd taco I chose was the REAL winner: the cactus and pork! I have had cactus before, but this went to a new level! It was the best taco I have had, in recent memory. The cactus was cooked to perfection and the pork was meaty and tender. This will be my go-to taco place in LaGrange. read more

I thought I had posted a review the last time I went to Taqueria Rio Verde but apparently note. I've had two vastly different experiences. First - this place is really popular on weekend mornings about 10:00, when I went in both times. Expect a good 20-30 minute wait. The first time, I ordered the migas plate, which was very good. It took about 10 minutes for them to prepare, after a 20 minute wait, but it was worth it because it was hot and fresh. The second time (this past weekend), I just got a taco made from the steam table ingredients. It was pretty huge but not particularly amazing in any respect. Just didn't have much flavor. The salsa is pretty good but not very spicy. My recommendation - order one of the specials plates to get hot, freshly prepared tacos. Next time I return to La Grange, I'm sure to give Taqueria Rio Verde another try to make it 2 out of 3 good tacos! read more

I secretly don't mind driving to Austin when I know I am passing by this outlandishly bright taco joint. The no joke burrito sized tacos lure me here! It's counter service, and the line moves quickly. Traditional and non traditional flavors can be found, and they have a great selection to choose from. Don't forget to add the rice and beans! I have lived in La Grange my entire life and if you want an incredible taco/breakfast taco or real, authentic Mexican food, this. Is. The. Place. To. Go! The people who work here are so friendly and the food is super affordable and SO good!!! When I was in high school, I would go here at LEAST 3 days a week because it's so quick and easy. Sometimes the lines get long but they move quick, I promise! I cannot recommend this place enough! I have eaten here so much that the owner knows my order when I walk in the door and he always asks how I'm doing and how college is going. They NEVER answer the phone so that you make call ahead in order to avoid the 35 minute line. They have plenty of staff, but their staff would rather talk, gossip, and laugh together than work. You have to pay ahead, and then wait on your taco until their staff feels like making it. This place has really gone done hill in service, but still the best breakfast taco in town. read more

The homemade flour tortillas are burrito size and delicious. List of meats are on the wall behind the counter. We had carne guisada and spicy beef tacos, both delicious.
