The chicken here is very good, sometimes they run out of chicken and the wait is about 30 mins. The chicken is always fresh and juicy. Delicious flavor, the sides are good too. When I first had some Los Pollos #3 chicken the first thing I did was compare it to Pollo Loco, the outcome... Los Pollos #3 was better! The chicken was so tasty and tender that it literally fell off the bones. I got the chicken, rice and beans for my sides. My second time eating Los pollos,first time here in Downey. I like the city of Bell's store better. My advice call ahead of time to order for takeout. They said it would take 15 min but it took 30. They only had 1 cook and a cashier?! Crazy for such a busy place. However the today I placed a phone order after work it took me 20 minutes to get to los Pollos and when I got there I told the Lady at the register I was there for my phone order. I go to this place very often. Today for Father's day they were not taking phone orders for pick up so I had to walk in, order, pay, then wait one hour for food. No problem, I understand they are busy. I ordered a bag of chips and extra salsa (which I have done many times before). They never seem to know how much to charge for the extra chips, so today the cashier decided $5 was the price. Fine, I paid it. So an hour later I get my order and my "chips." Two small bags if chips, literally the smallest bag of chips you buy in a 24 pack. I asked for more to make it worth my $5 and the lady giving me my order pretty much says "too bad it's all we have." The service is horrible even after you place an order for a salad and they say 10 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes later and had to wait another 20. Well I would love to give this place 5 stars but they never have chicken when you go in for chicken. First time I went in,,have to wait an hour because no chicken was ready at lunch time so I left. The women who took my Togo order over the phone on Sunday around 6 was rude rude rude. I asked if she spoke English, she said no. (I'm Mexican and my Spanish is good enough to get me at least a "B" if I was still in high school) Anyway, i asked in Spanish their specials & how many chicken and sides i needed for 8 people, apparently because i don't speak prefect eloquent Espanol she seemed to dismiss me or say "¿Que?" to everything I was asking. I could hear her speaking English to that other person so when she came back on I started saying my order in English and guess what????? That cashier was talking in tongues, hallelujah praise the Lord! Its a Miracle! I said to her when i was finished, "why couldn't you just speak to me in English when i asked you or when you heard me having trouble saying it in Spanish?" She had no response but to say your order is ready in 20 minutes and hang up. I truly enjoy this restaurant. I often place orders for work events and I've always received decent service. Plus their food is delicious. No doubt about that! Potato salad is the best I've had! I don't know too much about their staff though. I try to place all of my orders with Evelyn. She appears to be the person in charge. They have a variety of sides like rice, beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, spicy salsas (which are AMAZING) and corn or flour tortillas. The only complaint is that I used to order over the phone all the time but they stopped making phone orders which is really inconvenient. I went about a week ago and waited for about 30 minutes, I noticed the cashier took a phone order so I asked her if they still took phone orders, and she responded "Oh only if we're not that busy"... Now how in the world am I going to know if Los Pollos is busy or not? If they have a large order they can have a policy that the customer has to pay over the phone which will eliminate wasted food, or orders. So I order the chile relleno the cashier tells me they don't have it..okay so I order cheese enchiladas and she says we only make them with chicken...
