From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel genuinely welcome, like you're a regular even on your first visit. The food is absolutely outstanding fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. And I have to talk about that green sauce they serve on the side... whatever magic is in it, I could seriously put it on everything. It's that good. To top it all off, I tried their tres leches cake and it was perfection, moist, rich, and not overly sweet, just the way it should be. Amazing food, wonderful people, and flavors that keep you thinking about your next visit. Highly recommend!

It looked great. But, it was way way overrated, like the cook is in love and doesn't pay attention…read more while salting the food. Kid said it was saltier than the ocean. Also we went at night and the food was dry-ish, plantains were not fresh and yammy as u love them. Oxtail was dryyyy. Yukka (for extra $2) was dryyy. From the meat options we got the best was chicken, chicken in my (super salty) soup was perfectly cooked. Grilled chicken was great too, juicy with crunchy skin. Beans were cooked perfectly. Too much rice in every plate and not enough beans though. I really do t know if during lunch time all that food was freshly cooked and juicy and just got dried up by dinner time. I might give it another chance if I am in the area and super hungry, cos it was generously served.

The inside of the restaurant is decently sized, clean, and even has a space where you can host a DJ, which is a nice touch. There was a slight language barrier, but it wasn't a big issue. I waited about 5-10 minutes for my to-go order since the hostess/server was the only one working outside of the kitchen staff. I ordered the MOFONGO MIXTO (Mixed Mofongo), which is crispy green plantains mashed with garlic and olive oil, paired with chicharrón, chicken, or cheese. It was solid--rich, tasty, and especially delicious with the salsa blanco, which was creamy and garlicky. That sauce was a first for me, and I loved it! While I've had mofongo that included rice and beans elsewhere, this version stood on its own nicely. A couple of notes: parking is a bit challenging, and I'd recommend placing your order through an app to help navigate any potential language barriers. Overall, a good experience, and I'd definitely give it another shot!

It is a family run establishment and having just opened, the place is super clean and super modern. There is a good amount of seating, so they can accommodate a large group easily. They are open late and on certain days, they have a DJ and the place turns into a club. The food was extremely fresh and is home cooked style. The chivo guisado was extremely juicy and the meat was so tender - falling off the bone. The pico pollo was great too and very well seasoned. Portions sizes were generous with very reasonable prices too. The staff are very friendly too. It's a nice place to come and enjoy some authentic Dominican food with some bottles of Presidente or cocktails. I recommend giving them a try. You will not be disappointed.

Sabor Tipico is LEGIT Bridgeport's Beat Kept Secret!!…read more We came in on a business trip and honestly we're IMMEDIATELY blown away by how clean it is-like eat off the floor clean. But we're ladies, so, ya know. We are on plates. The woman running this joint knows what she's doing-she made great recommendations and we certainly felt and ate like we were at someone's Abuela's house. Cuz only abuelas cook this GOOD! We had the baked chicken, pollo guisado with white rice and beans, a potato salad that was the perfect compliment, green bananas with pickled onions and some kind of maduros with meat that seemed like a casserole-but we really don't care because it was so friggin good. Coulda been a cadaver and we still wouldn't care. Is that normal?? So if you're in Bpt-stop in! And tell the The Jenns sent ya!!

The broth was rich, comforting, and packed with that slow simmered, homemade, Dominican flavor. I was hoping it would include a variety of meats, but it only had ham and pork, which is my least favorite of meats. I was glad it at least came with yuca, along with potatoes and carrots. I also tried the flan. Unfortunately, it wasn't packaged very well, and the liquidy made caramel sauce had leaked, getting all over my hands when I opened it. The texture and flavor weren't for me. I prefer flan with a custard pudding consistency, but this one was more like slime. I believe I had their combos before I started yelping, and it was good and affordable. I would give this spot another try, but I definitely won't reorder the items I tried today.
