I tried this place a few weeks ago via Uber Eats delivery and sadly was very disappointed. Uber Eats said they were open til 2am, so I thought that was great and everything would be fine, since I was ordering around 9 something PM. Well, as always, I should've consulted Yelp first as I found out later they really close at 10. So I take partial fault on this one. However, what transpired next should never have occurred. The restaurant took on the order right before closing with no intention of making fresh food clearly, but yet they sold everything full price while giving me old scraps. The only reason why this isn't a one star is because I didn't get sick. I ordered a variety of items: caldo de pollo (chicken stew) which comes with corn tortillas, a steak sope - which I've never tried before, a side of rice, and a corn tamale. Let me break things down: First of all, I didn't receive a corn tamale at all. I'm guessing they ran out, since it was near closing time. That's understandable, but there was no note or phone call for the substitution like I'm accustomed to from other places when they run out of things. I instead received an extra side of rice, I'm thinking to replace the tamale (but not entirely sure as it could also have been a side to the soup and they just forgot to bag the tamale). In any case, I would've accepted this as I normally love Mexican style rice. However, both servings of rice were completely dried out and tasted old like they'd been sitting under the warmer all night. Next, the steak sope, which I've never tried before, was very lackluster. The meat provided was super gristly and the base tasted like soggy cardboard. Additionally, there was barely any seasoning to speak of - not a good first impression of the dish unfortunately. Finally, the main dish - the caldo de pollo was unacceptable. I was charged full price for cold soup (mind you, I don't live very far from the restaurant), but worst of all, there was only one piece of chicken, two small slices of carrot and one baby size half-slice of chayote. Now, once again, I know they were almost closing, but if they were not intending to make fresh food and serve a decent, reasonable portion, then they should've cancelled so I could get a full refund. I should not have been charged full price for what was left in the pots and pans before they were scraped out for the night. The tortillas that came along side the soup were no better - dry, burnt, hard, etc. I see some people had good experiences here, so that's great, but they should afford all their customers the same consistent quality if they're going to serve at all. Unfortunately, because every single item was served in such poor quality I have no desire to order from here again. I wanted to try something new, but I'll have to stick to Don Pedro or El Indio for now. Luckily, Uber Eats refunded me for the missing tamale, but I had to take the loss on everything else. read more

Very rarely do I not have a good experience with food. I love food especially Mexican food but this really lacked in everyway. I came in at 4pm and they clearly weren't ready for customers. She seemed almost annoyed to wait on me. I ordered a steak quesadilla and a chicken taco. Everything was chicken. The rice tasted like the beans. So bland. Bad bad bad. Such a shame. I gage all Mexican restaurants on a couple of criteria. Chicken Enchiladas, Margaritas, and their prices. How much care and thought put into each one of these items can tell me how much the people care about their restaurant. Los Ranchos is a great little place to go while I am on my lunch break and I have a little cash on hand. Just a stones throw from where I work it takes no time getting there and back. Although I have never had one of their Margaritas they do score good points for their other criteria. Prices are good and their Enchiladas aren't half bad. They do have many traditional Mexican dishes (not just tacos and burritos) that I have never tried and will probably never try. Just the fact that most of the patrons are Mexican makes me believe the place is authentic. The wait staff does speak a little English so they will probably understand you if you don't know much Spanglish. They also accept most major credit cards in case you don't have cash. They get 3 out of 5 stars right now cause I haven't tried their Margaritas yet. read more

It was lunchtime -- and I wanted comfort food. The old Southern standby -- the meat and three -- was not available in this part of Norcross. But there are oodles of the New South's replacement of the meat & 3 -- the authentic taqueria. For no special reason, I picked this one. I had two things -- just two. A "watermelon" agua fresca, and a chorizo burrito. Well -- watermelon turned out to be cantaloupe, and this huge, cold drink tasted like the freshest cantaloupe evah. (On a hot, hot, day, this was extremely welcome). The chorizo burrito was not as spectacular -- it was merely excellent. I doubt, ingrediant was, it was any different than the chorizo taco. It was just a bit easier to eat. It was high quality chorizo. As with a lot of Hispanic restaurants, the joint was a bit empty for an early lunch. The Univision cooking show made an odd counterpoint to the meal. If you have a chance, peer into the kitchen when you pay for your meal. The little grandmother dishing out the home cooking has a large Virgin of Gaudalupe collection in there. Go. read more

Hidden gem in Norcross that proves you can't judge a book by its cover! (Caution: False advertisement in Menu pricing!!!) I am writing this review in real time, which should help you understand the experience as I am doing so. Immediately greeted by the smell of a bathroom, which I hope just means they are or just finished cleaning them. It is mid December and they have a very small heater in here, so I am cold and half of the lights are out, so I can't see my chips. I'm a little worried about getting anything to drink, so I ordered a bottled water while we enjoy the chips. The salsa tastes store bought, but she just brought some green sauce out, so let's see how that tastes... It tastes very fresh as it hits the taste buds and is shortly followed with a spicy kick. My coworker who I am having lunch with today, got tea in what seems to be a 72 ounce cup that he says "tastes like Lipton." Now I will continue eating chips as I wait for my cheese quesadilla and two tacos... The food just came (about 10 minutes from the time of order) and unfortunately, I still smell the bathrooms which could affect the experience. The smell of a previous customers looming stool fills my nose, but I will endure for you. It looks and smells good (the food) and I am going to start... The cheese quesadilla was not good. I won't sugar coat that. Very plain and flat. Not much flavor other than a grilled tortilla. The tacos on the other hand were great! Paired with the green sauce I'll give them two thumbs up. Great flavor and a good kick with the sauce. All in all this was a pretty god experience and I will be back for these tacos, but if it smells again, I'll order it to go. read more

I should have known better and stopped when I detected the chips were turning stale. The steak fajitas were a total abomination, but the waitress was such a nice lady I was too embarrassed tell her how bad it was. Chef, whoever you are, you need to turn in your apron. Great place to go for a meal overall. The setting/decor is really all over the place and the cleanliness of the place seems a bit questionable. Lots of open space and the place immediately feels like they'll have some authentic cuisine once you walk in. Foodwise... they do know how to do make a hot salsa! WOOHOO! The enchilada lunch combo overall was okay. Definitely had better, but since it came with the hot salsa, l couldn't really argue. The tortas was pretty good as well. The only problem I ran into with the food was due to me ordering takeout. Waited a bit too long and things got a bit soggy. Will definitely go back again for their authenticity and overall bang for the buck. Plus, after seeing their menu... you're gonna want to experiment more things. read more
